I dunno about last year, but Ookla season has always been meant as Peter's birthday to Brandon's birthday.

...traditionally when it ends because SotS is usually the same day as Brandon's birthday. That was the original intent. 

Like, this isn't an argument, you can stop or start it late or early if you want, participate how you like! But if you're looking for "official", that is the reasoning I have always heard.
