Nah, Hoid had nothing to do with things like that. That was entirely Preservation and Ruin fighting one another and doing all kinds of stuff. All Hoid did over there was take a bead of lerasium to become a mistborn, and maybe some other small things, but nothing else that is important to the story.

@Zellyia No need to spoiler things in threads with [OB] tags. All spoilers allowed (for all Cosmere, on this board). @LopenTheTwoArmedHerdazian (for some reason I can't tag you) what if fabrials are a form of voidbinding or whatever it is the Fused do?

I don't like that idea, because I think that the Rosharan magic system is one that can be well explained through general rules, in the same way the Metallic Arts can. I also don't think Kaladin's windshield is impossible (it could be Adhesion or the beginning of Shardplate) and I don't even know what you mean with Shallan's sketching, but we do know that special artistic abilities are common among Lightweavers.

Note that this is explicitly something bondsmiths weren't able to do in the past, even at 5th Ideal.

That's not what I'm talking about. There's a theory floating around of Adonalsium breaking into pieces, reforming, breaking into pieces again, etc. It doesn't actually try to explain the origin of Adonalsium, and I just don't think that his origin is "being 16 Shards", because that actually doesn't explain anything, it simply moves the "where does it come from" question from Adonalsium to the Shards. You'd still need to explain where the Shards would come from, which would be just as hard (or easy, actually) to explain where Adonalsium came from, and I would argue that the sixteen Shards forming seperately and then being able to form a cohesive whole would require a whole lot more design than simply Adonalsium emerging. And of course there's the point that Brandon has flat-out stated (in my above post) that the Shards are not fixed; they could have been different.

I'm having a hard time theorizing about something if I think the base assumption (spren can burn lerasium) is incorrect... I'm like "yeah so what would happen, yeah actually, a spren has no physical form capable of ingesting the metal, so nothing at all".

I don't have the book either, but I very much doubt I'd both have read past that without realizing it, and that no one on the forum mentioned it in three months.

I'd definitely put Szeth in Lawful first and then figure out where he'd belong on the Good-Evil axis. I would argue, in fact, that he's been basically everywhere on that axis, but I think the best fit is Lawful Neutral; he does what he is asked to do.

True, they're all linked. I was thinking about it being more specific than just arbitrary "linking" though, possbly using the same mechanism that life uses. The Cognitive Realm is 2-dimensional, so if you travel far enough into one direction, you'll end up in "space", though space is actually much smaller in the Cognitive Realm because there's barely anything to manifest in the Cognitive Realm. As for the plant life, those plants don't resemble actual, Physical Realm plant life; rather, they're special to the Cognitive Realm. Actually, you might be on to something here. Maybe the Heralds are, in a way, all linked to one another, just like someone's Physical, Cognitive and Spiritual self are all linked.

No. Nightblood doesn't stack breaths, he consumes them. He simply doesn't have the power to destroy something that has as much Investiture as a shard. As for Vivenna's sword, it's likely an improved version of Nightblood, which behaves more like a normal Shardblade. They probably found a better command. Maybe "cut" instead of something as rigorous as "destroy evil".

I'm going to mostly agree with Weltall and Calderis, but I'm very interested in your ideas on allomancy and feruchemy influencing certain particles, @Canton of Indecision. Looking forward to a potential theory about that.

1. From how I read it, he went off-planet soon after reaching the 'ocean', and those plants are actually off-planet themselves. 2. I think this was just like plains or something in real life, or maybe a cultivated area in a way. 3. I would say the Cognitive Realm is different enough from the Physical Realm that it might not require breathing or, otherwise, there's air everywhere as that is what people would expect there to be; the Cognitive Realm forms after perception of living beings, after all. 4. Same as 3, I think this has to do with perception and expectation. 5. Been a while since I read SH, what is the context here? Also, all questions are relevant.

I'm pretty sure both Wax and Szeth actually did die, same for the Returned.
