  1. We currently have two dozen people in either one or two guilds. Three are in three, five are in four, and five are in five or more. A poll that was conducted supported a resolution that 'characters should be required to join guilds and RPers should only be allowed to join a certain number of guilds'. An ongoing poll in the guild reform topic is a close race, eight people support the limit being three, while seven support four. The other 14 votes are split among the other options. I will note that if a guild like TUBA, which has nine members, wanted to, they could theoretically change where three or four of their members counted for, to prop up small guild who wants greater influence. For coalition inquiries, please see Karnatheon. I'm not sure if that was a serious suggestion or not.
  2. Obviously the Dark Alley is jamming the signal to prevent you from learning their secrets. (I'm getting a perpetual loading symbol as well.) EDIT: Maybe this link will work? https://www.17thshard.com/news/brandon-news/hemalurgy-table/
  3. New guy shows up, then seconds later this happens to Nogard? Is no one else seeing this? He's E V I L! It was hard thinking in all caps, but Klasten managed it. He briefly considered moving forward to help, but he knew what the real root of the problem was. Quietly, he moved along the wall. He was just about to grab a rock to hit the stranger with, when a feeling gave him pause. He looked at the rock. On it was inscribed a cryptic message in ancient text. Bah. Stupid side plot warning going off again. He chucked the stone aside. He didn't have time for distractions. Instead, he began providing moral support for Araha in the form of thumbs up and encouraging positive thinking.
  4. You've read Infinity Blade? I haven't, so I've been looking or people who have to tell me what its magic system is like. The IB wiki just lumps everything together, game and novella. As for your character, yes, you may submit it now. But it may not be officially approved until later. Name: Hasn't decided on a good one. What would you like me to put on the list beside your name? eg. @King Taravangian Returned Investiture: None I'd like you to put down 'Returned' as his investiture. Alternatively, 'One divine breath'. Also put any extra breaths he has, the ones he got from the man. That's important for determining his power level. He's also masters many skills that go well with combat, such as woodcraft and stealth. "Oh no! Attackers! Quick, Returned, lathe us some chair legs!" I know what you mean, but thought that was funny. Weakness: No unique powers to speak of. He also has a code, and a pesky sense of honor, which is kind of a weakness. Not very good at playing a role or pretense. I'd like to see you challenge yourself. First, expand upon the limitations of his code. Then, I'd like to see some other weaknesses to develop his character and balance his power more. I don't understand what you mean by 'no unique powers'. Here he survived by eating metal, and seizing the investiture from it. I'm not sure that's possible. We have a WOB that says they can do it with stormlight, but I've never heard of them doing it with metals. This is the relevant WoB which implies you could, but one would need to look into the mechanics of how investiture on Scadrial works to confirm that. During his travels, he also met Hoid and other worldhoppers, who trained him in non-weapon related skills. I discourage making Alleyverse characters meet or interact with people from the books, with the exception of beings like Nightwatcher. It ties you to canonical events, which can change from what you expect as books are released. I'd prefer if he doesn't meet Hoid. Also, are the other skills referenced the woodcraft etc.? His travels ranged throughout the entire cosmere until he stumbled upon the Alleyverse. Similarly, this is a difficult statement. A planet like Scadrial is in the Alleyverse and the cosmere. If he went to it, he'd be the Alleyverse. It's a side effect of our premise, it makes for weird geography. I usually avoid this by specifying planets. ...as the head of the guild. I appreciate your mentioning that. hope it's not too OP, but the fact that a mildly skilled surgebinder or mistborn would be able to survive an encounter with him (maybe) is evidence to the contrary. That's not how we judge power. Different skill-sets are vulnerable to different attacks. For example, you could argue a koloss is weak because a soother could beat them, but they could obviously beat someone like a gasper. But underwater, my money would be on the cadmium ferring. Rather, I've started using this Index, allowing people 100 points. The Index currently lists returned as being OP, so I encourage you to give them greater weaknesses. It does not factor in stuff like their weapons training at this time, but I'm looking into including that at some point. I did throw in some stuff from infinity blade anyway, because it was too good to pass over. I missed those parts. Can you point them out? Thanks for your submission!
  5. Any power not mentioned on the list that people try to use shouldn't necessarily be rejected, just evaluated on a case by case basis or added to the Index when it comes up. But I'll include a generic enhancement option in the next update for you since it's relevant.
  6. Wouldn't that mean he'd just keep bleeding forever? If an enemy hurts him, the wound wouldn't seal, he just wouldn't die from it.
  7. Thank you very much!
  8. I read your post in the Character thread, and like the idea of having a scale based on bone strength etc. Kandra are still much harder to kill than, say, humans, but I agree that they're not indestructible. I think I'll start at 30 more than a gold ferring since they have similar healing abilities, but kandra are older and can disguise themselves, then have the scale go up past 100 for experienced fighters with combat skeletons. I'll consider the Era they're from to be a potential weakness.
  9. That's why I stuck asterisks on approvals whenever I remembered to. I think there was a reason I felt confident approving yours, but to be fair I'll look at it again anyways when the time comes. Remember, weaknesses have to be taken into account too.
  10. I was surprised how quickly you'd responded to my fabrial update, but then I saw the content. I set it up to be a base 100 system, but if added tech and skills points make that too limiting, I'm open to bumping it up to 110. But plan on characters being allowed 100 points. (Remember, weaknesses allow you to subtract points as well.) @Dr. Dapper's working on the WoT section. He's been pinged.
  11. Go with that then.
  12. Depends on the fabrial. Similar to an aviar maybe? Somewhere between 0 and 15.
  13. La la la! I can't hear you! Deadlines aren't real! At least the Index is kind of done. It and the government are on track to be finished in time. But I haven't even looked at making edits to the Guide thread to account for all the stuff we've established...
  14. It's a good question. In my opinion, Aether of Night is pretty distinct. The magic system isn't cannibalized as directly, and since we have a full manuscript available, we see it fully developed.
  15. Plus, there could be some confusion about what's being referred to since it was cannibalized. Is that a Mythwalker skaa, or a Mistborn one? Was that a typo, or did you really mean kkoloss?
  16. This list is going to end up being more up to date than our membership list in the TUBA thread. (But don't tell SD I said that. )
  17. Be sure to tell him to indicate that next time they're on. I'd prefer to have everyone tell me or publicly state it themselves, to avoid the pitfalls of assumptions. But I can add you to the OP.
  18. Responses to Questions: First, why is there a lerasium misting? There isn’t really any lerasium left, and anyone can burn it. - Mac True, but lerasium mistings still exist. They're just redundant. My logic was that anyone who made their character one is probably going to give them lerasium at some point. Otherwise, why would you do it? This being the Alleyverse, people can find ways to get it. Upon reflection, that was a bad way of going about it. A lerasium misting would have some value (5 points or so) for Dakhor experiments etc., but it's so impractical that it's negligible. I'm just going to remove it altogether. Then they should be more than mistborn? Not less than mistborn. - Mac I was under the mistaken impression that lerasium mistborns were less powerful. That mistake has been corrected. It's possible to be a naturally strong mistborn, and a weak lerasium mistborn, so I'll just leave it to the tabulator's discretion to judge that. They should be similar, within a few points of each other. I think that hemalurgy needs to be a general rule, instead of specific values, because you can conceivably spike any trait. - Mac Also true. My thinking was that anything not mentioned on the list would be subject to the tabulator's discretion. The general rule would be something like 'figure out how powerful that makes them, then subtract a bit for damage to their soul and vulnerability to rioting', yes? With the ones listed, I was trying to account for people replicating feruchemical and allomantic powers with spikes. I'll replace that with a footnote indicating what to do in those circumstances, and what to do about others. Non-Human Updates: *Dysian Aimian: +45 (Hard to kill, great potential for spying and espionage. Functionally immortal. In short, they can get a lot of stuff done and not face many consequences for it. Knowledge is power and all that. I'd consider them to be more powerful, but being made of bugs is a real roadblock to having a social life.) *Siah Aimian: +45 (We haven't seen much of them, so I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt. I'm assuming that their ability to manipulate their form could be extrapolated to give them greater ability to take damage. They've had years to practice doing it, so why wouldn't they have developed ways of shifting their form that would help in brawls or to make disguises? But if someone maintained that they'd stick to only powers seen in the book, of course it would lower, +20 or so. But I want to judge their peak potential. I feel that being long lived should be considered a significant bonus as well. With functional immortality comes the assumption that they have amassed a significant number of skills, knowledge to use their abilities effectively and avoid harm, and are experienced with keeping their emotions in check to be an efficient fighter. Plus, they can afford to play the long game. It presents the opportunity for the RPer to adopt a different mindset, one that has a lot of advantages.) *Singer: +20 (Enhanced strength, durability of warform.) *Spren: 0 (the drawbacks seem greater than the benefits, but that's all a matter of perspective, isn't it? They can still fly and make friend. But if someone argues it's a weakness because it makes them less powerful than the base level human, I'd be inclined to give them the negative points for it.) *Kandra: TBC (I'm looking at somewhere around 80-130) (Again, looking at peak potential here. A kandra is immortal, so see previous comments on that. With a carbon-fiber skeleton and some pre-planned modifiers for disguises they could be very powerful. Remember how much damage that kandra took going through the temple as they were hit by all the traps? It's like being a gold and pewter msiting, but with the benefit of years of experience. This has been debated in the Character thread, so see there for more points.) *Full koloss: +20 (Super strong and a good fighter, but not very smart. Easily controlled. These weaknesses detract from their score.) *Koloss-blooded: +10 (You have the advantage of being stronger and more capable of taking hits, but not extraordinarily so. Adjust for how much koloss-blood they have. More = more powerful.) ***** Updates: - Dr. Dapper is working on the WoT section - Voidus is working on the Reckoners section - Made elantrians a scale - Centrifugal section has been added to - Removed alleymatics - swapped electrum and Malatium - Integrated non-humans - EDIT: Added fabrials (surge replicating ones. Go crazy on the heat fabrials) To Do: Points for common skills THE INDEX: SECOND DRAFT:
  19. Thanks! I'll include those two on the next update. I'm holding off on reviewing characters for the moment, until the Index is improved. There's a few ongoing tasks related to that, including the Warhammer section, figuring out if there's a use of Alleymatics that's low powered enough to be worth including, and brainstorming common non-human characters that could be used and ranking their innate abilities (koloss, kandra etc.). If you want to tackle one of those, be my guest. They're big projects though, so I understand if you don't. Thanks again for the help.
  20. Thanks for offering! Do you feel like reading a 'very bad story'? The Centrifugal section of the Index is incomplete (read: non-existent) at the moment. I need two things done: 1. Confirm it's set on Earth. 2. Rank the power of the magic system's users. It's been a while since I've read it. I remember there being something about science making people full of energy, but I can't recall enough specifics. If you could give it a read through and note the mentioned enhancements and how many points you think characters should get for having them (using other magic system's scores as a reference point), that'd be a big help.
  21. I'm fine if people start submitting them now. Once the Index gets reviewed (I'm estimating by Sunday or Monday it should be edited and updated enough to make it usable) I'll start going through each bio and evaluating it. That way I can be consistent. If the process takes less time than I expect, I'll start sooner. It's a little up in the air at the moment. But any bios that get submitted early are added to the post anyway, so I can find them again. So if you've got some ready, feel free to post them.
  22. I'll leave Epic categorization to Dad then. I agree, those need to be factored in. There a few ways of going about it. 1. Assume everyone's going to have some level of skill, and just try to keep them even across the board. 2. Give the common ones point values and include them in the tally. Weapons proficiency, dexterity, encyclopedic knowledge of local fungi etc. all set at a range to account for varying degrees of skill. 3. Compare each skill to an established value. For example, a strong character has a quarter of the ability as a Pewterarm, so they get a quarter of whatever the points for that is. I think for exceptional skills we'll need to do something like this. Same goes for tech. If you've got armour that makes you as observant as a Tineye, you should get some points for that. The problem is there's a lot of tech and skills out there to catalogue.
  23. Klasten played 'got your nose' with himself as he waited. He lost, because his nose chose that moment to disappear and he couldn't find it again.
  24. Only his head is visible, and a small swathe of neck. The invisibility is spreading upwards, so the level of his chin will be the next to go, followed by nose level, then forehead, until he's just a floating mop of hair. But soon that will disappear too, and... I don't know what will happen then. Probably a lot of internal monologue about following people around and eavesdropping. Or maybe he'll hit his head and slowly bleed to death as his companions stand mere feet away, unaware of the tragedy unfolding. The alarm bells in Klasten's head started ringing. Evil! Evil! Evil! But of course, all he could do was stick out his tongue at the man. Where are you hiding your hideously deformed biological experiments, eh Mr. Mad Scientist? Nevermind that Klasten himself was just a floating head, he had very strong views on mad sciencery. The island reprimanded him. Instinctively, Klasten spun to glare at the gemheart. Fine! he projected. I'll do it. But you owe me one. With a sigh, he retracted his tongue. He even waved at the newcomer, but no one could see him do so. Bah. Still say he's evil.
  25. I tricked my brother into reading the first three WoT books in hopes that he would be able to fill me in on this stuff, but for some reason he hasn't been very helpful on that front. And wikis just aren't the same as first hand knowledge. So if you want to beef up the WoT section, that'd be fantastic. Or maybe Voidus' first guess was right, and I was asking my darling if she'd like some road making material.
