It's no problem. That said, he did say he would have pushed the date back regardless, as he doesn't want the end of the front half to be "just another book", and wants to take his time polishing it. Also, I know people repeat this all the time, but it's thanks to all his non-Cosmere stuff that the Cosmere stuff is so good. If he didn't take breaks from it to avoid burnout, Stormlight would probably be over by now, but it would most likely be a very disappointing series.

What are you playing right now?
Eluvianii replied to Link Von Kelsier Harvey's topic in Entertainment Discussion
The excitement around Metroid Prime's remaster caught me, so I decided to play Prime 2. It's a really fun game. I'm enjoying the way they're portraying metroids here. It's easy to use broad phrases like "Space pirates enslave metroids" but it doesn't hit you as hard. This on the other hand let's you see them up close. "This metroid is being tortured by its cage and can't fall asleep" or "This metroid has been milked half to death and its cells are messed up because of it" or "This metroid was fed normal food, presumably for fun, and now has food poisoning". It's a whole new side to it. Metroids are such a sci-fi concept, it's easy to forget that at the end, they're essentially abused animals. -
Maybe too much. TPBM likes hazelnut cream.

That's it, next time I play chess I'm making up funny names for all my checkmate attempts. Also Beatrice can be such a middle school bully. She's incredibly cruel, but she goes about it in a really childish way. I find that weirdly endearing.

Also, don't be afraid to ask the group itself for help. I think after a while experienced players just sort of assume without realizing it that anyone can fill a character sheet, but I know the first time is really daunting. My experience was that they just told me to make a character, I didn't know how to do that, was very afraid to ask but after I did one of the players walked me through the process. Then from the second time on it's way easier. As for tips, well, I'd say splitting the process into bits makes things easier. - Rolling stats (can't be specific because there's several ways to do it and I don't know which your group is using) - Choosing race and class. - Filling in attributes using the stats you rolled and applying race bonuses. - Choose feats. - Buy gear. I've personally only played Pathfinder but I think at least these bits are done in dnd too. Still take it with a grain of salt though.

Yeah like, it was this session that confirmed Battler could now see everything. He was in denial watching a lightsword fight during the first twilight. That would have been disappointing but you had given me both a heads up and an explanation so I was already expecting it.

That's so... You know what? Thank you for that, it would have been disappointing to read today without going in prepared. And the part about rewriting the episode makes the difficulty disclaimer slightly funny. "The difficulty is fair". Like ok fine, have some hints but leave me alone.

Episode 3 chapter 4 might be my favorite chapter so far. Not like this has had a shortage of good moments but if there's something that gets the blood flowing for me, it's a word battle. And while there has been no shortage of that either, this one lasted like a whole hour and I don't know, I enjoyed that so much. So, anyway, couple things.

Hmmm maybe the spoiled ending? Those stories that tell you how they're gonna end from the beginning, and then have to keep your attention the whole way through despite it. Even better are the ones that spoil the ending and yet when it comes it still feels surprising. What is the easiest story trope to pull off while still being amazing?

Maybe one. He's on the "art is objective" camp and says he prefers reading classics for their artistic value so he becomes more knowledgeable about culture I think. Myself being on the "art is subjective" camp we have some fun discussions on the matter. Favorite kind of fantasy setting?

Tbh Star Wars has always been a turn off your brain series for me. I agree with the general consensus that episode 9 loses a lot when it comes to being cohesive but aside from that, I'd say I enjoy all 9 movies about the same amount for the same reasons. Which is to say, spaceships and lightsabers are fun, but that's about it. That said, aside from Rogue One (which is tied for my favorite along with episodes 5 and 8), I have zero experience with any spin-off, TV shows, books, or games. And I do hear that those go way beyond what the movies cover, and they seem a lot more consistently regarded as good in comparison to the main saga, which is a minefield of a debate. Still thinking about doing some of that.

The amount of things that can go beautifully wrong in a very short time is, well, beautiful. We were just a normal run of the mill crew of mildly evil pirates. But after a bit of a boss fight, well, stuff happened. My character had a run-in with an aboleth. She rolled a natural 1 on a Will save against it which means I now serve the entire aboleth race, no questions asked. So I continue my journey with the crew while secretly advancing the plans of a hive mind who wants to take over the world. One of our crewmates fell into a coma that would kill him after three days if he failed a save, which he did. However, at our request the GM gave us a 10% chance he'd be revived by some deity. Which he also did. So he continues his journey with the crew while secretly trying to revive the evil cult of the god that brought him back to life. Our captain also fell into a coma that would kill her after three days if she failed a save, which she did. But a certain cursed map she possessed revived her as an undead so she could continue to search for the treasure it leads to. Of course, maps don't usually revive you, so we're pretty sure there's yet another greater power pulling the strings here. So a few hours ago we were a normal crew in the simplest of missions to fight a witch. Now we have a secret war between deities while also working together until the goals of our masters collide. And of course, there's also the rest of the crew who is still blissfully unaware that anything has changed, they're just happy that their friends opened their eyes after being declared dead. I'm so storming excited for whatever happens next.

Well, I got a muffin. It's not here anymore. TPBM typically reads however many pages they missed on this thread before posting again.

Weird moment for this thread to be revived but I'll take the chance to say I'm in the Thriller Bark arc and holy crust did I underestimate this series.

Trails of Cold Steel (and the Kiseki series in general)

Haven't watched Shadows House, but from this song I conclude that I should.

I'm pretty sure that's the general opinion about that book, when people remember it exists.

Who LOVES The Legend of Zelda!
Eluvianii replied to Ironwill2112's topic in Entertainment Discussion
That makes sense. It would allow the return of traditional dungeons, while also keeping the "whatever order you want" thing. That way they don't need to lock progression behind items, though maybe some things could unlock based on the number of tears you have. -
Week 2, Day 3: Powers Emerging.
