Thanks for all your work! And for the link I can only see 4 questions up there now, but I’m guessing it all needs to go through an approval process. I’m looking forward to reading them all. I can’t even imagine how much time it takes to transcribe. I had to listen to my own part a plethora of times before i got it all right and I was there and knew what I was thinking. (I had no idea I said “um” so much) (hope that’s ok I left the um’s out of my transcriptions of myself — way too distracting) Makes me wonder too. It might shine some light as to why Vasher came to Roshar. (Not necessarily why he left Nalthis) Maybe he has relatives here. ?

So here is the audio from my first time through the line. (Thanks @OrangeJedi for recording) Later on, I had some friends go through who had an extra wristband and I hopped in with them (after buying another book for him to sign) and asked the question about the color green and Mraize's chicken. (Is it just green, or green and another color) When I find that audio I will post exactly what he said about the green chicken's color. Basically -- It's green. I have to admit after listening to myself talk at the signing I realize that I need to just shut my mouth and let Brandon talk!!! @MonsterMetroid "Is Mraizes aviar from First of the Sun, or is it from another planet?" BRANDON SANDERSON: If it’s called an Aviar, its origin is First of the Sun. @JoyBlu Color of the Green Chicken. In Sixth of dusk there is a green and white aviar and a green and red plumed aviar. Is the color green important? BRANDON SANDERSON: I’ll RAFO that. @JoyBlu The Patji Lake. Theoretically could an Aviar fly into the Lake on its own and into the Cognitive Realm? BRANDON SANDERSON: Theoretically, um, so @JoyBlu Like have a bird catcher on the other side waiting for birds to fly in? BRANDON SANDERSON: Theoretically, I’m going to RAFO that. But it’s not a big RAFO. Its more along the lines of I’m going to get into the mechanics of how things go through shardpools in future books. Right? What you just described is not outside of reason. @JoyBlu Could also one of the grubs/parasites/rotten fruit – whatever – could that have fallen into the lake? BRANDON SANDERSON: That is Plausible. The question is once it gets to be a non-sentient thing, -- how does going through to the realms work? -- That’s where it starts to get – that’s where you get your asterisk. OK? Like that piece of fruit falling – I’m going to asterisk that one @JoyBlu Evi – In Oathbringer. She uses strange idioms. You had mentioned to watch / be on the lookout for people using strange idioms. . . . (examples “White as the sun at night” ) Is Evi native to Roshar? BRANDON SANDERSON: Yes. Her people are related to the Iri – who are not native to Roshar. She is not Irili herself. And all the Irili – they are native to Roshar – the people who are born now – even if their people aren’t. So Evi you could say right, like no humans are native to Roshar. But, Yes, She (Evi) was born on Roshar. @JoyBlu Would she (Evi) might have some of the same blood in her that Vivenna & Siri from WarBreaker would have? BRANDON SANDERSON: I’ll RAFO that.

@The Sovereign @WeiryWriter Brandon Sanderson clearly answered the question —before @OrangeJedi even finished asking the question. —and I’m pretty sure I remember the part now. I just took my brain a bit to go back to Scadrial because it’s been hanging out in Roshar & Nalthis lately.
-
@OrangeJedi recorded the entire thing. He has already uploaded the audio to Arcanum for review. ( @little wilson was recording audio too — I could have chatted with you forever!) ) but there was a lot of background noise. I think that I’m allowed to post the transcription from my own questions? I’ll do that tomorrow. Brandon elaborated on the Iriali I can’t remember verbatim every thing he said — but it was interesting. There might be something else important in what he said but I do better reading things than hearing things. I forgot to ask if there was an Aviar in WarBreaker!!!! I think there has to be with all those birds— but I was going to ask and totally forgot. I had a great time and I’m glad I stayed until the line fizzled out. I enjoyed taking with so many people. There were a lot of people who had never read Sanderson who were getting books signed as gifts. @AllomancerSam I kept my eyes out for you but didn’t “see you”. Hope you made it. I thought the store was well organized and staff was friendly and helpful despite being extremely busy. And the Dragonsteel people were very kind to me. There were a few fun costumes. This Mistborn cloak was my favorite. It was made with ribbons. @Mason Wheeler I won’t post your picture because your GF was in it too —- but it was so great to talk with you! Your GF was a sweetheart! It would probably be upside down anyway! So fun that I got to meet you in real life! I ran into a few people that I knew in real life that I didn’t know were Sanderfans so that was fun too.
-
@little wilson Sorry for the upside down photo! I have no idea how to change it. I really enjoyed talking with you. So fun to hear your stories!

@MonsterMetroid Yes, all Aviars are from First of the Sun. Including Mraize’s chicken. I asked if the green color was significant and it was RAFO’d. (With a smile I might add) but the chicken is green. very green. Mostly green. Patji lake is a shardpool and theoretically a bird could fly into it and enter the cognitive realm on its own. But he RAFO’s how that would/could happen (like if a bird catcher was on the other side to catch it) Evi was born on Roshar and while her people are not native to Roshar she was born on the planet I asked if Evi could share a bloodline with the Nalias (WarBreaker) Royalty, He RAFO’s that He also RAFO’d if we would see Hoid’s flute again

Just got here. They are handing out wristband 220 right now if you are interested.
-
I hadn’t thought of that! Yes, good questions! I’ll post the answers once I have them. I need to not assume so much sometimes. If I have time I’m going to ask about some theory's I posted on the Mraize’s green chicken thread too. Maybe I should consider how to phrase those more intelligently.
-
I’ll ask the Aviar question (as it goes along with my other Aviar questions — but I’m pretty sure it is from 1st of the sun.) — my questions are: is the green color of the bird an indication or hint of its powers? And is Mraize’s chicken green and white, green and red, or another combination of colors? @The Sovereign do you have a page number I could look up your question in Bands of Morning? I have to admit that at the end of Bands of Morning things got a bit strange for me and I felt I wasn’t grasping what was going on on all the levels. Maybe a re-read of that part will help me get a more intelligent answer. I might have someone else in my group ask that question as well. Not sure how much time we will all have.

Someone I was with grabbed a few extra wristbands as we were leaving for some friends — but we just learned they are sick and won’t be coming. They are numbered in the 60’s. If anyone will use them — message me and I will give them to you. I’ll be at Barnes & Noble at 5:45 at the latest. I’m going to wear a red kerchief (not the full red scarf because that was too hot last signing) and a white flannel button down. I was wondering who from the shard was planning on being there the entire time to record the WoB’s? I can stay if no one else is but if someone else is already doing it, I won’t get in the way and I have lots to get done for Christmas in the next few days. I assume that the administration of the 17th shard already assigned someone the task but i don’t know if that’s true — or if people just volunteer to do it. @AllomancerSam I’ll keep my eyes open for you. And if you see me first — don’t be shy! Come say hi!

I was there early (with Hot Chocolate) (hello @OrangeJedi — nice of you to play the Kaladin soundtrack while we were waiting in line) to get a wristband. They were only giving one wristband per person but then when I left they were handing out more if you wanted. At 10am they were on wristband 100. Signing is from 6-9. There will not be a presentation. The manager I spoke with at the store said that they didn’t have a microphone / karaoke machine to broadcast a reading and that Brandon’s publisher said he was worn out after his European tour and was only doing this because he likes that store and the fans here and wanted to maintain those good relationships. They had almost every Brandon Sanderson book. Most they had in both Hardcover and paperback. Most were full price though. If you have a Barnes & Noble membership you got 20% off the books. You can share a phone number for a membership if you know someone who has one. Memberships are $25 a year. I’ll include a photo of some of their books. There were 3 different Sanderson sections that i saw. They didn’t have White Sand, and Emperors Soul was only in paperback. They had all Mistborn & Stormlight in hardcovers. As well as War Breaker, Arcanum Unbounded, and the cute Edgedancer. Oathbringer Hardcover was the only one discounted. They said that you can get as many books signed as you want. But only one book (plus any you buy from their store ) personalized. When you come in the store they will put a special removable sticker on the books you bring in so they don’t try to charge you for them when you leave the store. If you have a number higher than 100 you may want to come after 7:00 if you don’t want to wait so long I hope this information is helpful!

You see this headline “Ash falls like snow” and get excited because you think for a second you are back in Mistborn Era 1! -
I have not made the time to go reread Sixth of Dusk after finishing Oathbringer but I’m wondering if there will be clues in there. I also remember birds in WarBreaker that I didn’t pay much attention to (But need to on a reread). (Except that one guy tortured birds in WarBreaker). I wonder if the color of the Aviar is a clue to its powers. I also wonder about the chirping as well @ccstat Perhaps it indicates someone who has bonded a spren or something (or has access to investiture some how).
-
Well that was the biggest smile I’ve seen from Brandon Sanderson this tour. I’m glad he got a chuckle out of it. And I’m thrilled that the costume actually worked out! I’m very impressed. After seeing your photo . . If you really wanted to dress up as a named character, I’m imagining you as a good Sebriel. Although I would have to go back to the book and re-read his physical description.

@the.fulgid i hope it wasn't too big of a shock to see your photo on there! yes! In fact after I left the party and finished the book I immediately wished for an after party where we could discuss the book in person. If there are enough people interested in a cosmere book club in Utah County, where we met in person either a few times a year or on a monthly basis — that would be a lot of fun. I wonder if one of the local libraries would let us hold it there. I’ll look Into it, and post back once I know. In the meantime feel free to post here or message me if you want to be invited to such a gathering if we do ever have one.

I absolutely love the bottle on your head!!!!!!!! so much fun! @Ookla the Obtuse did Brandon say anything about your costume? I bet it is the first he has seen! What great pictures! Thanks for sharing.

It was my understanding that there were clues in Oathbringer as to the powers that the green chicken granted. (But I heard that second hand) When I went through the line I confirmed that the green chicken was an Aviar but Brandon RAFO’d what powers the Aviar granted. I have not finished Oathbringer yet but I’m looking for those clues. Maybe @taxilian can clarify
-
Hello Taxilian! #3, right? Thanks for all fun conversations! My son is 20 pages from finishing the book while I’m supposed to be cleaning up Legos. But instead I’m reading this thread because it’s the only safe thread to read!!!!! When he got to that chapter you told us we would know by he was like yeah - mom, I totally know! (I’m not that far yet) Hoping I can read tonight. I was so tired yesterday that i didn’t get much reading in. @Ravioli thank you for the script on that. Fun to see Spensa written down. I can still hear Brandon saying it in my head.
-
Yeah, I was so dang hot that I took off the scarf. My bad! I forget how quickly the room heats up when you have that many people in the room. Thanks for posting your Q & A’s. My son was recording our questions — but most of mine were RAFO’d and I’m not sure I can post the one about the sample chapters on this thread because it might be considered a spoiler. (I did post it on this other thread and he confirmed it for me in line) Brandon gave some insight into the eye color of Siri & Vivenna, when I had him sign my WarBreaker book. My daughter is reading it now and took it to school with her so I can’t take a photo of it but I’ll try to get it up here too. My son is almost done with Oathbringer. He will finish today. After he gets his homework done I’ll have him post our stuff. I love your UserName @BLU3 Thanks for recording and posting the link!
-
I have no idea! @Argent can you fix it for me? I tried but I was not successful. I am not in Australia. All my photos on this site have been that way ever since I camped out with this phone in the freezing cold. @Mason Wheeler I totally saw you! But you were very busy and so I decided I best not interrupt. Looks like you have some serious equipment. @john203 nice to have met you. My son loved your shirt! Where did you get it? Are there any available for purchase still? I’d love to get him one. I think that these photos are right side up! So nice to have met you all!! Maybe my phone is thawed out now! @Zas678 @Peng the Just

I’m at the signing now. I’m sitting next to someone who was with Brandon earlier today. Brandon confirmed to him that Mraize has an Aviar. Mraize is not from first of the sun. There are clues in the book as to what the Aviar’s power is. Aviars are very rare at this point in time !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You take a picture with a somewhat stranger and when you try to airdrop them the photo this is the name of their phone
