WoB on the Breaths question:

This is basically accurate It's an old forum tradition of giving out digital cookies and then when the Dark Alley started (Our resident Hemalurgists guild) I made the 'come to the dark side, we have cookies' reference and then the two sort of merged into the Dark Alley sneakily putting spikes into cookies and offering them to people.

Merry Christmas all, anyone want some celebratory christmas cookies?

See I understand that sentiment but my view is that that then completely undercuts the whole depressing, gruesome realities of war thing they had, which actually did add some emotional weight to a story that I think was sorely in need of it. I really really want to like this movie but any time I find something somewhat redeeming for it I find something else that just completely undercuts it. Maybe I went in overhyping it or something, don't know. I'm sure that the early annoyances (CGI Tarkin, overly used and forced cameos) probably spoiled the latter half of it for me but even on looking back I still just can't bring myself to actually think well of it.

I feel really confused about reviews of Rogue One, I'm kind of used to defending star wars movies from criticism, I really don't think the prequels were as bad as everyones always making them out to be, yes they changed the tone quite a bit and there were a few silly things in them but why is it that the thing people always complain about is midichlorians? Explaining the science in a sci-fi saga is pretty standard for the course and is barely worth mentioning let alone going into some huge rant about. (Someone ranty review below, spoilered for those who just want to discuss their enjoyment for others)

Highly tempted to start a Cookieborn RP or fanfic right now...

None taken, I said as much myself Salem was mostly just meant to be a fighting arena, but it's slowed down quite a bit recently so we're looking to try to introduce some plots in there.
-
@Jedal I'm happy for Leech to be in Salem, but as was mentioned Portland is potentially a better location, particularly if you want to do anything plot heavy. Though we are looking for some more plots to be introduced to Salem but it's been pretty dead lately. In other news, until I get some Neverthere inspiration I'm doing these again. I find the email notifications system more than adequate, takes some settings adjustments but you can get them constantly rather than in batches. It was enough for me to keep up with the Reckoners RP during its prime when we had a post ever half a second.

Yeah, I mean friction is kind of awkward because it's not really a property in and of itself, its derived from a whole bunch of other stuff. So whenever magic negates friction there's always a somewhat awkward part of my brain that wonders how specifically it does that. Pretty much any way to consistently apply it as a rule ends up making it insanely overpowered. But yeah, anyway you try to invalidate friction it's going to make running impossible, unless you mean they run to max speed and then remove all friction and just slide? In other news I just realized it's been ages since I posted and I know there were some posts I was due for so anyone got any suggestions for postings from Voidus?

The mobile version of the site is already pretty awesome, not sure that an app would add much more other than be a drain on Chaos' already stretched resources and time.

Or just not follow the person who knows his weakness around? I mean Epics are arrogant and prideful but they're not opposed to running when they're in an obviously disadvantageous situation.

Bout -200 C, so around the temperature of liquid nitrogen, which will cause its own kinds of problems.

It'd probably just crash the computer you were playing on as it sped up but wasn't getting enough power to run at those speeds. Other than that probably just lots of lag.

Is Allomancy really of Preservation
Voidus replied to Brightshade the Cunning's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I would have bolded ' Preservation is stronger at fueling Allomancy, Ruin stronger at fueling Allomancy or Feruchemy when it has been given via a spike. Both are balanced when it comes to Feruchemy. ' personally since I think that's the proof that Feruchemy = both, Hemalurgy = Ruin, Allomancy = Preservation. But yeah as others have mentioned it's been brought up quite frequently but it's pretty clear that Allomancy is of Preservation not Feruchemy. Which makes sense because in terms of what they do with Investiture all magics are either end neutral, end negative or end positive but there are only three shards that have direct bearing on those traits so we'd have to say that it means that all end-positive magic is Ruin+Preservation, all end negative magic is Ruin and all end-neutral magic is Preservation and no other Shards own any magic. -
It does include poisons but not at lvl 1. Greater physical resistance, reduced Endurance, start with Magic, Dark aligned Let me know if you want to change race or whether you want fletching or herbalism and I'll PM you starting stats and abilities.

So a thought I've had, who'd be in favour of a transition from a turn based system to something slightly more freestyle? There'd be limits obviously but I think it would free up combat and RPing with others to be more than 'I use my turn to use this attack' which I've been feeling a bit at the moment when writing my own sections. There'd still be hard stats and rolls and such but it would just help the flow a bit I think.
