Completely indepenent of the main cast? In what way? Szeth certainly interacts with the main cast (I would argue moreso than Jasnah) and has interludes. Something will be told of their travelling together at some point, even if it is simply Jasnah recounting (vague) details. Otherwise, She and Hoid wouldn't have met up. Hoid is in places for a reason. If he could have met her elsewhere, there would be no reason for him to meet Jasnah when she exits Shadesmar. We could assume that her being in the epilogue was there only to show Jasnah still alive, but Hoid wouldn't need to be present to show that. I'm not saying there must be travel scenes/ first hand discussion between them, but I see nothing in what's been said to indicate there can't, either.

Mat really is the best- all the way through. I really disliked Rand during his sulky period.

I remember asking Brandon about Hoid's backstory, and if my memory serves me correctly, Hoid's backstory will be in Dragonsteel.

I would like so as well. What I'm getting at is that if- if- they do share any of that, they could be essentially secret weapons for the KR; having special insight, or used as fire to fight fire. It was your supposition, btw. I'm just making posits along those lines, since it seems to be the context of the convo, here.

This is why I added caveats. Saying that IIRC/as far as we know they dont. But if they did, they might just as easily go towards stopping them as they would to joining them.

Rock can see Syl, and holds her in reverence. There's definitely some story there, and story about Rock's past would be great. I don't know that Horneaters would be affected by the Everstorm/stormform. They don't mind link with song, or choose a form, IIRC. But if their shared DNA did mean something in that regard, my thoughts might go to whether Horneaters would play a role in stopping the Stormforms.

Roshar has more than one moon. I can imagine the gravitational pulls of each warring with the axial spin of the planet, or perhaps they affect the magnetosphere.

It doesn't even show on the Little Orbit, nor Brandon sites anymore. Last update from the game's FB page said it switched developers, but it was still being worked on. Originally it was supposed to follow an Alomancer nobile, then I saw something on it following a Terriswoman. Man, I would love a MB game.

I suspect with Dalinar bonding the stormfathrr, we may find more out about the origin. I like the idea of going west from Shinovar to reach the Origin by that route, but with the Everstorm now happening, I'm not sure it's feasable anymore. I should think a submarine would be plausible to pass safely underneath both types of storm, but then again, we habe no idea of currents or anything other than santhids that may be lurking in the depths.

At least for the craters, I believe those were the old home of the listeners, before they were forced to retreat to the planes. For the rest, I am guessing this is as relable as anything known. http://coppermind.net/wiki/Stormseat

(Warbreaker Spoilers) Conflict of Szeth and his New Sword
Massik replied to Radiant Returned's topic in Stormlight Archive
As I said, my takeaway. But, my theory is that he will ultimately become a Radiant, witch would be an arc filled with a lot of conflict. As for Adolin.. Sure. I guess he wanted to scratch at a flea that kept biting his back. It's hardy the same seeking out people to kill, which is the context of my post- It wasn't his desire to seek people out to kill as Travagnian had him doing. -
(Warbreaker Spoilers) Conflict of Szeth and his New Sword
Massik replied to Radiant Returned's topic in Stormlight Archive
I don't think Szeth was ever really evil. He didn't want to kill those people, or rather, it wasn't his desire to. He was bound by oath- bound by honor- to do what he did. The fact that it eats at his soul, says to me deeds done weren't his actions. He was a tool. A blade isn't evil, even if the one weilding it migjt be. Aside from that, my takeaway is that Szeth actually died and was brought back; reborn, and thus his slate is clean. Though, I imagine he will have to feed Nightblood stormlight so he won't die, just as Vasher had to do with breaths. Then again, we don't know what has happened with nightblood since leaving Nalthis. He was created, could he habe been augmemted? -
The Stone Shamans and the Faithful Order (Extended Version)
Massik replied to Erklitt's topic in Stormlight Archive
No, I mean who did he see using stromlight, and not who did he talk to about it. Obviously when he tells his people about it, they nake him truthless. At any rate, they hope another desolation never comes. That's far from believing that there won't be another one. It implies they think there will, IMO. Nale only goes after those who broke the laws of the land. This is why he gives up on Lift is let go. She is pardoned. Dalinar goes by a strict code, so I don't see him and Nale being at odds... Rather, if the KR (and therefore their patron heralds) have to work together, I don't see a way around it.- 15 replies

Favourite Stormlight Archive qoute
Massik replied to Asasasyn in White's topic in Stormlight Archive
“Perhaps a story for a child,” Wit said. “I will tell you one, to get you in the mood. A bunny rabbit and a chick went frolicking in the grass together on a sunny day.” “A chick . . . baby chicken?” Kaladin said. “And a what?” “Ah, forgot myself for a moment,” Wit said. “Sorry. Let me make it more appropriate for you. A piece of wet slime and a disgusting crab thing with seventeen legs slunk across the rocks together on an insufferably rainy day. Is that better?” -
So... when will the Voidbringers conquer Urithiru?

Given Syl forms a spear for Kal, I should think that any shard weapon coukd be made with living spren. As for the moving parts, is that not what Fabrials are useful for? with the right gearing the levitating platforms that Navani makes could essentially make a vehicle. Moving back and forth in location A could mean locomotion in location B.

The Stone Shamans and the Faithful Order (Extended Version)
Massik replied to Erklitt's topic in Stormlight Archive
If the Shin had anything to do with the KR, wouldn't they know that another desolation would come, and therefore a refounding of the KR would happen as well? I am highly interested in who Szeth spoke of using stromlight, which had him named truthless, and where he goes next. Since he is reborn and taken under Nale's wing, he will essentially be aligned with those he was attmepting to kill under the Diagram's orders, no? Chaos! And what happens to those who named him truthless?- 15 replies

SPOILERS! ---Does Kaladin like Shallan, and Vice Versa?---
Massik replied to ChullRider's topic in Stormlight Archive
This is true. But Adolin doesn't know this, and it says nothing of how Alethi society would view Adolin. I don't mean that Shallan will hate him over it, moreso that he may be shunned/disowned by his people. Or it could conflict him internally, causing him to leave, or even change his temperament, driving her away. This could lead to an opening for her to develop feelings for Kaladin in Adolin's potential physical/mental/emotional absence. This would be the perfect set up for the love triangle conflict I was mentioning. Say, if she started falling for Kal, and Adolin returns, or Veil runs across Adolin, somewhere in the underbelly. Of course, Adolin may well win out in that scenario, when/if she finds out about Heleran. Conflict. Great stuff. edit to add: Kal may find himself there, eventually. But only with a lot more personal growth. -
So... when will the Voidbringers conquer Urithiru?
Massik replied to Patrick Star's topic in Stormlight Archive
If they do, I see that as an edgame kind of thing. Urithuru was just rediscovered, Immidiate books will deal with furthering the refounding, and consequences of the everstorm/how mankind copes. Urithuru will be the last bastion for mankind in the physical realm. I can see it possibly falling at the end of the series, moving the true end battle to the Tranquiline Halls, but I'm not sure it makes sense to have it fall until the last or second to last book. -
SPOILERS! ---Does Kaladin like Shallan, and Vice Versa?---
Massik replied to ChullRider's topic in Stormlight Archive
So, obviously spoilers.... To an extent. I'm not sure that Kaladin can ever really allow himself to fall in love, and Shallan is pretty smitten with Adolin. But.... The time they spent in the chasm together allowed both characters to grow, prejudices and presumtions fell by the wayside. At this point there is a level of attraction between the two characters, whether or not it's ever acted upon is another story. And it could go either way. Adolin is now a murderer, which will certainly complicate things, and could drive him away from everyone. Kaladin killed Heleran, which even if it was in defense and/or honorable, will certainly complicate things. I will say, a love triangle would be pretty good for character conflict purposes. -
Thanks! I knew it would be something simple I was overlooking. Any word on why the link seems to go to the most recent post, instead of what's linked in account settings?

Hey all, Couldn't seem to find anything about sigs since the forum changed over. I am not seeing anywhere in my profile to change mine? Mine currently links to whatever page I am on, but I believe it was a link to a page of mine at some point.. ? Can we still access these, or are they a remnant from the old format? I know it's probably something simple I am overlooking, but help would be appreciated. Cheers!

Lightweavers might be the Strongest of the 10 Radiant Groups
Massik replied to TheBlueShifting's topic in Stormlight Archive
Another thing to consider is harmonics. If certain frequencies are put out at a high enough amplitude, with a medium for harmonics to resonate in, they could cause (perhaps) unintended consequences. Think along the lines of trying to make an avalanche happen with a low rumble- but, a higher pitched harmonic causes everyone in your party's teeth to shatter.- 32 replies

Lightweavers might be the Strongest of the 10 Radiant Groups
Massik replied to TheBlueShifting's topic in Stormlight Archive
It is possible that it could lead to flight/levitation, sound and light based weapons (sensory as well as projectile, for a lack of better words), as well as manipulation of other physical objects through wavelengths (though some of this would be redundant, as soulcasting could accomplish some of it) As for balance... At this point, Shallan needs some kind of reference to base her manifestations on, though that may change as she becomes more powerful..... I do find myself wondering what the stormlight cost would be for things that require/displace so much energy, though. Lasers, for instance, should be possible. But, just like in our world, it should require a great power source for it to do too much damage. Currently, she is basically as powerful as a movie projector.- 32 replies

I'm sure there are many reasons wby Hesina doesn't work as Shshshshsh. I was merely wondering about the chronology coppermind page, where it States the year Shshshshsh died is 1163. I don't remember anything from chapter 22 of WoK specifically stating this. Cheerx
