Thank you. Now I would love to see some artwork of it

No problem. I've seen quite a bit of good fan art of Bridge Four, but none with armor, unfortunately.

I'd draw it myself, but the extent of my talent is doodling a chull cart on my stats notes.:P

  2. When the bridgemen go to Dalinar's Quartermaster to get their new uniforms near the beginning of WoR, he talks about armor:

    Quote

Moash took it. "We're going to wear our leather jerkins over these?"

"Ha!" Rind said. "The ones tied with so much bone that you look like some western skullbearer on feast day? I've heard of that. But no, Brightlord Dalinar says you're each to be outfitted with breastplates, steel caps, new spears. Chainmail for the battlefield, if you need it."

I got that, I was wondering who Kal had cut, and because I couldn't remember any scene that maked sense, I thought it was from Oathbringer.

I just assumed that it wasn't referencing any specific scene. If the OP was a beta reader, they wouldn't be allowed to give hints, and it's not anything from the sample chapters.

What exactly is this about? Is it about something that happens in Oathbringer? And if it is, just say yes and leave it at that, you don't have to explain any further.

Haha it's a joke on the popular Star Wars fan quote: "Han shot first"

When you say Graphic Audio, what do you mean? Who is reading it? Who sponsors it? Where do you get it? I listen to all Brandon Sanderson on Audible, just curious if the "Unabridged" means that it's different from Graphic Audio version. I would assume if mine says unabridged and yours says "Graphic Audio", they just might have a few differences.

Graphic Audio is just another company that makes audiobooks, but they do it kind of like a play, with different actors and sound effects and such. 'Unabridged' means 100% the same as the original text, and is the category most audible books are in.

I have both versions for a lot of the Cosmere.

  6. The Legend of Eli Monpress series is a little silly compared to Brandon's stuff, but I thoroughly enjoyed it, and it's completely clean as far as I remember.

The magic reminds me a bit of Soulcasting, as it has to do with talking to inanimate objects to convince them to do things.

  7. My favorite scene is from the end of the Way of Kings.

    Spoiler

When Kaladin and Bridge Four are doing their last bridge run. I'm a fully grown man and I tear up a little every time I read this section:

    Quote

"Bridge Four!" he bellowed. "Side carry right!"

They hadn't practiced that maneuver in weeks, but their training was manifest as they obeyed without question, dropping the bridge to their side just as the archers loosed.

@Toaster Retribution: Can you share with us what it is about Amaram that makes you a fan?

I have to admit, I'm curious too.

I don't hate him as much as a lot of people seem to, but I don't really like him either...

In my opinion he thinks he is doing the right thing, but is very incorrect.

Edit: I actually do like him from a story perspective, simply because he creates good conflicts, just not really as a single character.

Always off. Hard to rip or crease it that way. I do prefer hardcovers above other options. It feels more like I'm a wizard digging through some ancient tome or something. More immersive somehow, but only if they are giant door stoppers do I get that feeling.

    Exactly this :P

So like Tom Hardy or Christian Bale?

Yeah, anyone who could do the disguises right would be good in my book.

    Edit: I don't know about Christian Bale's voices though, if I hear a Batman, I'm done. :P

I will be surprised if the only use of Transportation is for crossing between the Realms.

It's named transportation. It's use as a none fabrial Oathgate seems implied through the name alone.

I agree that there is probably a way to use Transportation for direct teleportation (or something similar) somehow.

    However...

From what we know, Jasnah may have used one perpendicularity, entered the Physical, got some Stormlight, and then ported to where Hoid is? Perhaps the amount she got only got her so far?

The WoB above confirms that she used a Perpendicularity this time.

Edit: As a side note though, I would love to see what Stormlight looks like, as well as how one would get it, in the CR.

    I can't find a good Wayne though.

I think Wayne would have to be one of those actors that can look completely different depending on costuming. I don't know that it matters too much which one though.

@Isaiah Zayth Umm... First when did Jashnah soulcast rope on that ship? If you meant shallen she didn't either, she soulcast the boat making it so the ropes weren't secured to anything... In fact I don't remember if she even did that much I think she just soulcast the bottom of the boat away letting them get free if possible.

You might be referring to the non-canon bit from Jasnah after she fully entered the CR, but that wasn't 100% canon last I checked.

That is most definitely what they are referring to.

I mean, the article does say that it's 'not quite' cannon, but that's only because it's a rough draft version, not because the event isn't canonical.

  14. I picked up the Graphic Audio version of WoR to go with the copy of WoK that I already had, in preparation of the Oathbringer release, and I was just wondering if anyone has spotted any differences between the GA and standard versions?

In Warbreaker there were breath commands that could be heard in the GA version that weren't specified in the text, is there anything like that that I should keep an eye out for?

I'm in a similar boat.  I've been working on book 2 for a couple of months, and I'm only a bit past the middle.  Every now and then I'm able to pick it up and read another chapter, but it takes energy and I have other things I'd rather be reading.  Fingers crossed that I can finish it before Oathbringer!

I know what you mean, I had the audiobooks and just kept finding myself not paying attention.

I eventually stopped trying because Arcanum Unbounded came out, so good luck on finishing it in time :P
