I can't help (I don't own minecraft) but it sounds like a really cool idea. If you posted a video of it on YouTube when you're done, that would be really cool.

CONFIRMATION - The Weapon that killed Adonalsium no longer exists
ILuvHats replied to imriel452's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Correct me if I'm wrong, but when Presevation said "the weapon I buried," I thought he was talking about the atium mistings which were the weapons (of sorts) that defeated Ruin.- 65 replies

I'm guessing they have some sort of magical way to maintain artificial gravity on the floating cities, especially if they have facilities and people on both the under and over sides of the cities. I doubt any disease would grant enough power over gravity to affect an entire city, even if a number of dedicated individuals constantly worked at it, so it's all really just speculation

@Weltall Those are some interesting thoughts. I'd doubted there was any official word yet, but I'd just assumed that they couldn't be biological siblings because I'm so used to the custom of keeping the former life of a Returned a secret from them. My original thoughts were that Arsteel and Yesteel chose their new names after they had been returned, and made their names similar to reflect their adopted brotherhood.
-
This question probably doesn't have a good answer yet, but I was wondering if there was a WoB about Arsteel and Yesteel being brothers, and/or Shashara and Denth being siblings. I can't see how they could be biologically related since they're returned, so I'm assuming they adopted each other as family. Just wondering if any explanation has been provided concerning this, and maybe why Vasher is the odd man out.

The Importance of Being Sel
ILuvHats replied to SylphrenaHonorSpren's topic in Elantris and Emperor's Soul
That's a very interesting connection. Whenever I thought of how ambition is a favored trait in Shu-Dereth, I always attributed this to the association between Shu-Dereth and Dominion (although this has been debated before; the link is below). Anyways, I'm not convinced that it's not just a coincidence. Ambition most likely had no time to Invest in the world and the cultures there. Although we still know so little about the Shattering of Shards and its repercussions for nearby worlds... I'll keep this connection in mind when I reread Elantris. -
Yep just fixed it

Tyn because if her team started losing she'd just join the other side. Who's more likely to forget to flush the toilet, Shallan or Vin?
-
My List of Totally Ridiculous Theories 1. Shallan leaves Adolin and gets together with Jasnah. 2. Lift kills a Thunderclast with her shard fork. 3. Sadeas didn't actually die. Turns out that the WalDo we've been looking for this whole time was impersonating him, and faked his own death. In reality, Sadeas is a kind and charitable human being. 4. Szeths hairstyle catches on and everybody starts shaving their heads.

What is the best moment in The Stormlight Archive?
ILuvHats replied to ICanDream's topic in Stormlight Archive
I'll have to go with the 4 shardbearers duel. I'd been waiting so long for a chance for Kaladin to shine in a setting like that, before all the lighteyes. I was constantly thinking, "Oh my gosh, yeeessss!" And then Kaladin accused Amaram and was arrested and my line of thought switched to,"Nooooo!" At the best moment, he just lost everything. -
Lessons we learn from Brandon's books
ILuvHats replied to Rebecca's topic in General Brandon Discussion
This isn't so much a life lesson as something that I found really relatable. In HoA, while Spook was undercover in Urteau, he mentioned that the quieter and more reserved he was, the more people wanted to talk to him. It seems like a small detail, but I see this every where in my life. I'm pretty introverted, and don't talk much to people I don't know well. But often when I'm new somewhere there's a number of people who try to talk to me a lot even though I'm pretty unresponsive. I'd just count Spooks insight as just one more example of how well Sanderson understands people of all different views and personalities. -
I think my problem is that I don't have a good impression of how much stormlight would be needed to do this. When I wrote my post, I was thinking of when Szeth lashed a bunch of King Hanavars body guards to the ceiling of the palace, and they only stayed there for about a minute or two before falling. I wasn't sure how much stormlight it took to do this, but since Szeth had been breathing in so much storm light from the gems on the ground I'd decided that it must have been a significant amount. So, I'd come to the conclusion that it would take a LOT of stormlight to provide enough lashings to get somebody into orbit. But seeing your post makes me realize that this is probably more feasible than I'd initially judged. And of course my math was wrong. Stupid planet, having an atmosphere that doesn't stay constant. This is what I get for trying to sound smart.
-
Would this actually work though? I mean, the normal terminal velocity for humans is 53 m/s, on earth at least. Discounting the time needed to accelerate to this speed, it would take over 3 hr to reach a low orbit (600 km) if a person is lashed upward once. You could lash them a number of times, of course, and increase the terminal velocity limit, but this would require inordinate amounts of stormlight. This whole thing really brings into question if it would be possible to use Basic lashings to create a satellite. You'd need to use fabrials capable of simulating basic lashings, and you'd need to get the correct momentum parallel to the planets surface to maintain orbit. And now that I think about it, you wouldn't be able to provide enough stormlight given that the satellite is significantly higher than highstorms, so you wouldn't be able to refill your storages of stormlight. Honestly, powering any kind of interstellar flight with storm light is probably out of the question since stormlight dissipates from gems within a week.

Well, thank you @The One Who Connects, and everyone else for answering my question. I was expecting a simple one post answer and instead got a string of posts debating the topic. So... yeah. Voidspren = canonical term (with debated meaning as to how broad a term it is) and Desolationspren = fan-made term. Got it.
-
This is pure conjecture on my part. But based on this idea, perhaps Axehounds become Midnight Essences when they are bonded to desolationspren. Essences do seem rather dog-like, and they kind of have a similar body structure to Axehounds: by this I mean they both have 6 legs, which could be coincidental. Obviously Midnight Essences are made of smoke, but Voidspren can cause Listeners to attain Smoke form, so it's plausible Axehounds could turn into Essences. By the way, are the terms Voidspren and Desolationspren synonymous, or is there a distinction between the two?

Warbreaker can only be described as mmmmm, mmmmmm deliciously amazing. Have fun reading it, and welcome to the 17th shard.

Why a beaver? WHY A BEAVER??? Beavers are the most majestic animals alive. When humans are gone, beavers will rule this planet in harmony until the Lord Beaver comes and we have the sequel to Mistborn: Beaverborn.

Mistborn is the only way to go with films. Wayne needs his camera time.

No, I'm not talking about Black Pipers album (though I'm really psyched about it). There's a new Stormlight inspired orchestral piece on YouTube by David Gruwier - finally. This guy is an amazing artist, and it's been nearly 2 years since his last piece, which was inspired by Mistborn Era 2. The new song is about when Kaladin first learns how to fly using surges, and though it starts with an unexpected style of music, it is definitely an awesome piece. We're hoping Gruwier will stay to continue composing after his long break, so please like his video to show support.

I have a sad tale to share. I bought the what if book on a whim before I really knew much about Randall Munroe. It was only later I discovered that EVERY SINGLE PAGE of the book was posted on Munroe's what if website. I will recommend taking a look at the what ifs. Ever wondered what would happen if you threw a baseball at 90% the speed of light? The answer is here: https://what-if.xkcd.com/1/

YAAASSSSSS! I will upvote you even though this post isn't Sanderson-related. Here's one of my favorites. If only we could actually do this... https://xkcd.com/1073/

Dalinar: Can I redeem myself no matter what horrible things I've done? Answer: No, you can't. See you in hell, Dalinar.

First of, yes, I was assuming Kelsier's body was still Mistborn since it would be linked to his sDNA. And I see your point that Kelsier is ambitious enough to spike himself 16 times. Still, it's hard to see Kelsier putting himself that much under Harmonys control. Harmony was already resistant to him resurrecting, as at the end of SH he lied to Kelsier, telling him there was no way for him to enter the Physical realm again. Plus, I've always thought of Kelsier as having his own agenda. And if his goals ever crossed with Harmonys completely, then I wouldn't put it past Harmony to stop him. True, Kelsier seemed to be doing the right thing after he initially came back and saved the Southern Scadrians. Perhaps doing so was part of his agreement with Harmony for coming back, or maybe he did simply want to help them. But what has he been doing since? Probably doing his own thing, possibly against Harmonys will. Also, note that Marsh who is spiked a lot, is serving Harmony, even if he's allowed to have his own opinions about stuff. Why wouldn't Harmony do the same to Kelsier if he spiked himself 16 times?

Hmmmmm... I wonder if Kelsier's spike is the Lost Metal (no matter whether it's Atium or Leratium or whatever). I don't remember any mention of any spikes on him other than the one through his eye. Maybe Sanderson just never mentioned them, but it seems unrealistic that he'd spike himself 16 times to become Fullborn. First of all, he'd be susceptible to Harmoniums control and second, his sDNA would be pretty messed up. It would be pretty convenient if his eye spike happens to be the lost metal and allowed him to become a Full born, though perhaps he achieved this in another manner.

Well. I think your need to use potty humor is a clear indication of your mental acuity. Never mind your failure to use an allusion to the cosmere. Undeniably, you're a storming pile of chull dung (and you smell like it too). I'd take your comments with a pinch of copper, but that wouldn't be enough to keep my mind from being blown by your colorless lack of wit. At least I'm not the one insulting myself.
