Perhaps you didn't notice that I was responding to Jondesu's statement about the elims making weird decisions?

Yeah, that's the real question. Did they skip their kill as an unusual play to take advantage of the detainment (which suggests they were expecting the detainment, which is highly indicative of Orlok being an elim), or was it due to inexperience or a miscommunication or something along those lines? What weird decisions have they made other than skipping the first kill?

But on the other hand, they might have expected him to be protected for that reason, and therefore attacked someone else. Did he ever even explicitly say he had no idea? Or did he just strongly imply it? And the reasoning for the detainment was good; the question is whether that was a villager detaining a suspected elim that just so happened to be when the elims forfeited their N1 kill, or the elims elim detaining a legitimately suspicious villager and forfeiting their kill in order to get us to mislynch.

Villagers can also get spikes off of lynch victims they voted for.

I still find some of Orlok's language, and the fact that the elims planned on an arrest, fairly suspicious, but with an explanation for inactivity (including, I presume, the lack of an arrest), it isn't quite enough to vote for him any more this cycle. (Still, please try to at least get online enough to do arrests and let us know what you find out.) Orlok.

Garshin looked at Hadrian. "And on what basis do you say that? Pretty much the only thing she's done that's remotely suspicious is thinking that Booken was a spy, and she wasn't even the first one to do that, Valbar was. I do, however, find it interesting that the Venture agents didn't do anything that first night...almost as if they knew that Booken would be arrested. And it's quite interesting, as well, how all of Locke's comments about Booken would be technically true if he were a Venture agent who planned things to play out how they have. That would also explain why there was no arrest this past night, by the way." I was not expecting to be made an Archivist for this trial...but perhaps it will turn out useful. Orlok. And @OrlokTsubodai, the above is halfway a poke vote, to encourage you to inform us why you did not carry out any arrest last night. Arrests are useful for information (if not as reliable as lynches, as we've seen), and a whole lot less permanent than lynches. (Edited to change the vote to a brighter shade of red.)

On the contrary; an elim expecting it would probably mention it, as it's an easy but not really valuable way to seem to contribute. The most likely explanation for not mentioning it is simply not noticing it. (Then again, if that's what she expected us to think, she might not mention it as an elim, though that's a bit unusual for someone so new. Or she might have not mentioned it as an elim due to being new and therefore thinking that it would attract undue attention to mention it...)

If an actually witty person wanted to take that approach, they'd say "if you people were Taravangian, you would be the kindest people ever to live".

By the way @OrlokTsubodai, I notice you chose not to detain anybody this cycle?

I often, as a villager, don't vote early until I have a clear read. Leaving aside the advantages in terms of meta (planning ahead for games where I am an elim), I prefer to let someone with a better read do the early-game determination (I am very weak at early-game reads, and in fact at reads in general except when they come from a PM).

Can't have; seekers in this game only tell what power was used the previous cycle, so night 0 it would be useless in any case. (Otherwise, Booken would have been much less suspicious, as there's no way an elim seeker would be the one to send in the kill if he could use his power instead.) Regarding the impact of losing a metallurgist: On the one hand, powers generally favor the village because there are more villagers and therefore more villagers with powers. On the other hand, the elims are less likely to have to worry about metals, since their hazekillers can order and transfer to teammates more reliably than village hazekillers.

Windrunner, because honorspren fit my personality and philosophy far better than cryptics. Terrisman (assuming feruchemy), since its powers are more useful in day-to-day life. Mistborn, since they've got (at least by age 3) better tech.

And would an elim (who knew that was the case) really leave out something that would be found out so soon?

The soothe on Cluny could very well have been done after the point where Booken was certain to be lynched. Question: Did any village Hazekillers use their ability night 0? That would explain the lack of a n0 kill. The only other possibilities I can think of are that the elims decided to mess with the village (unlikely they'd sacrifice a kill for that), or that they all had something else to do (i.e. that they all have either spikes or night roles). The loss of a seeker is less harmful than in most games, since it isn't an alignment indicator.

Well, some/most of us anyway. (The only night action available to everyone is ordering metals, and that isn't possible this cycle. Most of us are probably Hazekillers and therefore have a usable action...but it's also a one-shot, so might not be such a good thing to use this early in the game.)

Garshin was a bit confused...how did so many people here know about Hemalurgy, in this age? Perhaps they too had been put here by the mysterious forces that were responsible for his own situation.

Thank you. I believe I will join. Question: Will all our important records be kept inscribed in metal? (Oh, and let's not forget that the group goal here is to find the Venture agents; the paranoid hunt for the spiked is an entertaining diversion, nothing more.)

Actually, Ruin cannot control those with one spike, only manipulate them. It takes two for control.

How can you live in Luthadel and not know of the Sliver's Steel Inquisitors?

No, as spikes aren't implanted at the start of the game. You should invite a few Inquisitors to join your anti-spike legion.

(By the way: No character of mine, unless he is specifically intended to be a particularly hate-able villain, will ever "remind someone of his place as a newbie" or anything along those lines. Mehir must have misinterpreted Garshin.) Garshin went over to Balbar. "You seem defensive about something. Care to tell me what it is?"
