  1. I suspected it because of how complete it was. I had a hard time prior assuming it wasn’t the case because of simple human nature. While the vast majority of Radiants are people who want to help, if it mean sacrificing their own lives to save everyone, they would 100% do it. But in this case, it’s the potential life of a being they basically see as family. I figured they both agreed to it knowing the cost, or like it was mentioned, they didn’t know it would kill the spren given how complete it was.
  2. It was the chain. It makes sense that when Oathbringer was released, Brandon when he was asked about the silver chain the store, he basically “Super-RAFO’d” it at the time.
  3. Been away from 17th shard for a few months, didn’t realize people were referring to Taravangian/Odium as Todd now. Hearing about the evil “Todd” harming Hoid in someway was confusing. Especially since I think of Todd Howard when I hear the name.
  4. Definitely clears up that mystery I had about her artwork. It was the only one that I wasn't 100% sold on if it was "official".
  5. When he said the part of 9 groups, (probably dumb question) did he imply these 9 will have some impact on this storyline? Or did he just say there are 9 groups in the sense how you can find various worldhoppers on different worlds as a worldbuilding thing? And very good point on the ardentia comment, they have been sitting back in the shadows. And I think we've gotten potential hints that they will cause some big issues going forward. Brandon usually likes to keep big "villains" hidden in plain sight until the headliner bad guys are dealt with.
  6. I did have the same question when I saw the portrait. All of the other Herald pictures were basically spot on from what I had imagined aside from maybe some slight outfit changes. Paliah was the only one I had to pause because she seemed far younger then we were led to believe. I'm not sure if these images are "official portraits" for us, or more like "in world" depictions of the heralds if you get my meaning.
  7. I saw this theory on reddit posted by the user The_New_New and it might very well be the first time I've actually seen this theory put out. https://www.reddit.com/r/Stormlight_Archive/comments/jlucp9/paliah_may_have_played_a_part_in_destroying/ It actually sounds very plausible that this would be the case, what do you guys think?
  8. The Nale one keeps making me laugh at how stylish he looks. The Skybreakers have style
  9. We've only had one in Axies, but he seems like a pretty aloof person in general. We've seen others, but we don't necessarily know they feel internally about what happened. Do we have a current estimate or any clues on how long ago the Scouring actually happened?
  10. That would sure be some dedication lol, but I don't think that would be the case.
  11. Does he also only do the main questline first?
  12. I'm not sure they could've handled the Sleepless. Arclo in Edgedancer easily took care of those 2 journeyman Skybreakers. He said something along the lines of them not being able to do any real harm to him. Now with that said (and if it wasn't them), it makes you wonder what actually managed to destroy them.
  13. I thought at first "one of them will destroy us" might have referred to Dalinar as the whole champion stuff. Everybody with some foresight seemed to falsely believe that he would fall to Odium and become his champion. Preservation even after she prunes him mentioned something along the lines of "Even if you are ultimately his" despite being the one to help him. But I definitely did reconsider that theory when I was researching about Aimia and the Dawnshards.
  14. The Dawnshards was a theory I've also heard mentioned by others. It's going to be interesting learning how exactly Aimia was destroyed. Arclo in Edgedancer easily handled 2 journeyman Skybreakers and I would assume it would take some pretty powerful tools to get rid of them.
  15. From an Oathbringer Epigraph:
  16. From the Kaza Soulcaster interlude, we found out that the Aimians are guarding the island (or maybe more specifically Akinah?) to prevent people from finding out some secret. I also found this mention from one of the epigraphs in Oathbringer: Kaza was around this area while dying slowly from the poison the cook (a disguised Aimian). Her last scene was her soulcasting the ground into smoke and falling through it: What are your guys theories about what is going on here? What is this secret that they are hiding? We know the Aimians have long been allies of the Knights Radiant (unless that changed, but I don't think that's the case"
  17. Do you guys have any theories on the people in this interlude? How do you think the people in this part (well besides Sheler) will play a role in the story going forward? Is the Herdazian general just that? or Do you guys have ideas about him?
  18. I wonder how this will make Mraize react towards Shallan. He has to think Shallan would help out Jasnah right? They might try to blackmail Shallan into compliance by maybe threatening Adolin (find out he killed Sadeas?).
  19. Whoever came up with that theory that Tezim was Ishar (not guessing) using the clues from Edgedancer and the first two books is a genius. I wonder if the other Heralds have a moment of clarity like Nale did. Or will there come a moment where they actually have to fight them?
  20. Been a while since a May Aladar mention, went mia right after the 2nd assasinations. Coincidence? I think not. In all seriousness, for whatever reason Mraize's conversation with Shallan completely caught me off guard. I was expecting him to all be "not now" or a little less candid. (albeit only reason for this is from other books) People have theorized that Kaladin could be Odium's champion for a while now. Heaven forbid that happens, but I could see it happening now with how Kaladin's been interacting with the Parshendi last couple of chapters. Maybe Odium somehow influences Kaladin in someway to eventually get him to that point? Albeit not well versed in that regard to make a good argument. I wonder where those Parshendi that escaped from Eshonai are currently. Mr. T testing how Dalinar would go about uniting everyone was subtle. I'm surprised Dalinar and company didn't mention that some of the other nations were negotiating with the Parshendi. That Dustbringer is making me uncomfortable.
  21. Magic-form
  22. MAYbe its Maybeline
  23. I wonder why Elhokar wasn't at that meeting prior to the murder. Is he really that sick still to not attend or is something else going on? People were saying he could be all antagonistic towards Dalinar this book.
  24. My first time reading a Brandon Sanderson book was the Way of Kings about one year ago. I was always a huge fantasy/sci-fi book reader. It started with the Harry Potter series which I've read at least 7 times growing up. I've read the Eragon series (Book 4 was the biggest blue balls ever), Rangers Apprentice, Asoiaf, the two King Killer books, LoTR etc. I've enjoyed all of those series in one way or another besides the 4th Eragon book... When I started WoK, I expected a generic fantasy story because I've never read a Sanderson book in my life. None of those other series (ASOIAF was close) gave me the "high" that I felt reading WoK, WoR, and Era 1 of Mistborn. Ive lost count of the amount of times I've said "alright that's enough reading for today" and continued reading. What I would give to read the Tower, the Arena duel, Kaladin's 3rd oath moment completely fresh. Those moments were some of my favorite throughout any books that I've ever read.
