  1. @Alderant Thank you for that amazing post! That is the type of stuff I love to see on this website. I actually really agree with a lot of your post, actually. I think that Jasnadin would be a good relationship, and the idea of Jasnah experiencing character growth through a relationship and having to open up to her partner actually sounds really cool. I personally don't think that a romantic relationship is absolutely necessary for this growth, however. I could totally see a scenario where Kaladin and Jasnah become really close friends either through Kaladin being around a lot because of Gavinor, or simply because they're both very prominent Radiants and will probably be around each other a lot. This could lead to a romantic relationship between the two, and I feel that Kaladin would definitely be willing to give Jasnah more freedom than women are traditionally given in marriages, especially because of the example he had of his own mother's relationship with Lirin. Overall, I agree with most of your points. There are a few things I want to comment on, however. I don't really have anything against this; in fact, I agree wholeheartedly! I thought of this point after I'd already posted, but then I forgot to go back and edit it in. I totally agree that it's possible for Jasnah, or any woman for that matter, to be in a relationship and still be strong and independent. I just didn't clarify that in my post. You mentioned the point that Jasnah arranged this marriage both of these times, and maybe more, though I focused on these two, and focused on the fact that it was done without Shallan's permission-which is true. What you left out, however, was that Jasnah was sorry for doing this. Here's the passage where she tells Shallan of the betrothal. I've bolded the important parts. Thoughout this whole conversation, Jasnah makes several attempts to apologize, in the Jasnah way, for preparing the betrothal without Shallan's permission. She definitely felt bad about making this decision for Shallan, and assumes that Shallan will be mad or feel betrayed. She also reveals part of why she doesn't like marriage: the implicit nature of reduced freedom in a marriage. Of course, like I've said, this doesn't necessarily stop Jasnah from having a relationship, as long as she makes the choice herself, is guaranteed to be able to keep her freedom, or deems it as politically necessary.
  2. @Alderant I just read through this myself. Don't worry about it, we all have things that go on in our lives that get in the way, so it's fine.
  3. I know that I don't speak for everyone in this thread who's said that they think Jasnah could be asexual/lesbian, but I feel like you're kind of misrepresting what we're trying to say. I'm not saying Jasnah has to be asexual to be independent, I'm saying that she can be independent and asexual. I'm not saying Jasnah has to be lesbian to be strong, I'm saying that she can be strong and lesbian. I definitely I don't speak for everyone on this part, but I think Jasnah could go many ways: 1) heterosexual and disinterested in relationships; 2) homosexual and disinterested in relationships; or 3) asexual all together. None of this has any impact on her independence or the strength of her character, in my opinion. It's simply a part of who she is. I'd actually love to hear why you think Jasnadin could work. If you've read my posts, you've obviously seen I lean more towards her being asexual, but that doesn't mean I'm unwilling to change my mind.
  4. @Spoolofwhool I like that WoB, haven't seen it before. I kinda want that bullet point flowchart even if he releases it in book. That'd be so interesting to have, and would make it much easier to reference back to. @Calderis I don't have much to say about your idea, but I think it could work. The medallions are just so confusing, so I don't even know where to start on figuring out how they work, so this is a way better theory than I'd ever come up with.
  5. @TheManKnownAsHoid That's a really good question. We have no idea exactly how he got off Threnody. He probably got of-world through one of those unpredictable perpendicularities.
  6. Spook Beldre Clubs Demoux MeLaan Teft Renarin Vivenna Vasher Susebron Karata Roial Ahan Daorn Jalla Eliminated Sazed. He seems like the type to keep a secret. Who do you think would be a good chef/baker?
  7. You have no IDEA how happy that WoB makes me. I know it isn't a full confirmation of Adolin becoming a Radiant, but I'm about 80% sure that's what he was implying there. Oh, the brokenness thing is pretty good, too.
  8. @xinarin Well, the reason I like Venli is OB spoilers, so can't talk about it here. Also, in the future, try not to post twice or more in a row if you can, that's against the forum rules.
  9. It's this thing Tor, the publishing company for Brandon's fantasy books, does. It's a weekly blog by a few fans of Brandon where the go through a couple chapters each post and analyze the chapter.
  10. Yeah, but we don't know exactly for sure if Taravangian went to the Nightwatcher before or after Dalinar did. If he did, then it makes it highly likely that Culti could've showed up for him and her statement to a Dalinar still be true. And it wouldn't be impossible for her to have visited Lift either.
  11. Voidbinding isn't lacking an order. Like Unlicensed Hemalurgist said below, the voidbinding chart has the little order symbols. Even in the Ars Arcanum, Khriss herself says that's voidbinding has ten orders as well. Now, here's kind of where I think you're both getting tripped up: I don't think that the Fused have been voidbinding (I'm not the only one who believes this, by the way; just ask @Calderis). What we've seen of their powers feels way too similar to surgebinding to be voidbinding. Voidbinding should be something completely different from surgebinding. I believe that the Fused are just using surgebinding, but hacked to be fueled by voidlight. EDIT: As for the actual topic, I could definitely see a redemption arc for Moash. Part of me wants to keep hating him no matter what, but the rest of me really wants to see him redeem himself. My personal philosophy is that no one is ever too far gone, so it'd be cool to see even Moash get redeemed. Or at least have a sort of Darth Vader-style death.
  12. I don't know if anyone did, but who knows. Rashek only knew how much he did, which wasn't much, because he held the Well's power, so maybe no one knew anything beforehand.
  13. There's not really that many people from Warbreaker in SA, it's just that they're more prominent than worldhoppers from other planets. There's actually two from Taldain. Khriss and Baon (Blunt from the Purelake interlude in WoK) are both on Roshar at some point, though they are not together. The two from Scadrial (where Mistborn takes place) are Demoux (Thinker in the Purelake interlude) and Felt. One of the two from Sel is OB spoilers, but the other one is Galladon (Grump from the Purelake interlude). Iyatil is also from Silverlight (a city that exists only in the Cognitive Realm) and is Southern Scadrian in descent (she wasn't born there, but someone in her ancestry was). Nazh, who is from Threnody (the world where Shadows for Silence in the forests of hell takes place) and is a traveling companion of Khriss, has been on Roshar before too.
  14. Oh, I know. I've heard that a lot of Perrin comes with the slog that is books 7-10.
  15. This. The reason I'm not too mad about everyone being chill over Szeth joining team Dalinar is because he's valuable and they're in the middle of an apocalypse. Plus, if people can accept Dalinar after what he did, I'm sure they'll be able to accept Szeth.
  16. I don't know, but I'm still mad about that. He was becoming one of my favorites and Robert Jordan had to just go and kill him like that.
  17. I like this idea. It would make it easier for people to find games and there would be a way to specify that there are spoilers in the games.
  18. I finished book 5 of WoT, The Fires of Heaven, this morning. I'm about to start the nest book, Lord of Chaos.
  19. Um...I'm hoping Nynaeve can stop being annoying. She definitely go better in book 5, but she still has a long way to go, in my opinion. I also really want to see more Perrin. I missed him in this book. I really want to see more Rand and Aviendha and how Elayne and Min react to their relationship thing that's going on. Did we ever find out who Slayer is in book 4? I wanna know who he is still. Why didn't the other Forsaken attack Rand when he showed up in Caemlyn? Oh wait, no, the trap was with Sammael, nevermind. So, there's only 7 Forsaken left. What are all of their names? I can't think of anything else off the top of my head.
  20. @ScarletSabre You wanted my reactions.
  21. @xinarin Welcome to the Shard! Have a free upvote and a spiked delicious cookie! DISCLAIMER: Side effects include, but are not limited to, hearing voices, gaining supernatural powers, having the sudden urge to kill everyone, and completely losing control over your mind and body. The Dark Alley™ claims no liability for any damage done to/by the eater of this cookie. I think my favorite character would have to be either Venli or Adolin. Maybe Vin, too. My least favorite character is Zane, hands down. How many Cosmere books have you read? If you could have any of the magic systems, which one would you want?
  22. @ahill3780 Using the Windrunner symbol for something in a game that is private shouldn't go against copyright, so you hold be fine to just use the actual symbol. I mean, the coppermind uses the actual symbols in its articles, and hasn't been copyrighted.
