  1. That might work better. Except for taking a treck across the Shattered States. How would an Epic, who has no real travelling abilities make it to Oregon, much less hear about it? I could revamp the story to make it easier to place around Oregon. But yeah, if Batter were to be hit by a gust of wind, he would get blown over. If he were to get hit by a fireball, he would be burned. For kinetic energy, I'm talking about things along the lines of telekinesis. If pure telekinetic energy were thrown at him, he would b able to absorb it. If the Epic used telekinesis to make a building fall on him, we would have a different story.

    failed

I think that's the point. She explained accidentally uploaded twice.
  3. Granted. For your bane, you desperately want to be a burning stick. For my wish, I desire to be able to control what I look like after transformation.
  4. Yeah, so energy from nuclear fission. I'm not the best science guy. As I posted above, I'm making a retcon saying that Battery can absorb kinetic energy, but only if it is not transferred through physical contact(punches or walking). This would prevent him from being OP, while still being able to fight a telekinetic.
  5. Don't listen to @The Honor Spren, she claims to be girl. We all know that those are MYTHICAL creatures. Anyway, I'm Jedal, welcome to the Shard! We are a generally friendly community, so have at it in debate or RP! By the way, have an upvote!
  6. I don't know the scientific qualification, but it includes electricity, atomic energy, and whatever concussive energy is thrown out. So excluding heat and kinetic energy from physical contact, Battery can absorb pretty much anything.
  7. Let me rectify. I wish to have control over when my transformations occur.
  8. If he were to stick his finger in a socket, he would absorb the energy, but kinetic energy and heat are no-nos.
  9. The city isn't really important, just that he was in control of a large place which could have been considered a "kingdom" and that other Epics would have wanted. Also, @Edgedancer the redirection is not limited to Epics, which I should have made more clear. It was more of a general ability to redirect energy. The limits would be basically restricted to his weakness. If he died, however, he would not reincarnate. Limbs could regenerate. EDIT: It could also be a fictional city. Just some place with a local power grid and enough ground for Battery to feel fulfilled.
  10. I have my ways...
  11. I don't really mind, it would really help me understand. Anyways, granted. However, you will be the wife of a powerful duke, and inherit his land after he dies. For your bane, you are forced to randomly burst out in rap, specifically Eminem. Oh, how that is going to confuse your late husband.
  12. Alright, I revamped my Epic, and I'm gonna divide the different parts into different sections. Name: Battery Real name: David Powers: Personality: Pre-Calamity Backstory: Reason for coming to Oregon: I don't know if I should put my weakness here, but if I should, I'll just add it in. I would really appreciate some feedback from you @bleeder .
  13. Granted, but you will BE the babel squid. I wish to know the mind of a woman.
  14. Definitely. One of the things that kept me drawn in WAS the story. There is a lot of potential for a good book. Just not Brandon, because I don't think it works well with him.
  15. I actually read Illuminae as a galley. It was a good book, if a little bit hard to get into. I'm a tad rusty, but I remember that the ending was a bit of a cliffhanger.
  16. The first one. I like it...
  17. It seems you have completely disregarded my previous post. EVERYTHING, is alive to some extent. A rock has a cognitive form, so why not a satchel? If the satchel knows where the tongs are, then it would be there in the Cognitive. Shallan herself does not need to be aware, only something alive does. EVERYTHING is alive. Therefore, Shallan's perception is unimportant. This applies for the original questions. In each one, the change is percieved by objects in the surrounding area, this would create a change in the Cognitive realm. This is barring my misinterpretation of the quote that everything is alive.
  18. Ah. Well then, serious revision is needed! Thank you for opening my eyes. I'm going to being compiling a google doc and post something more complete sometime tomorrow.
  19. Well, any character would be two-dimensional after five minutes pondering! Thanks for the feedback though. Of course Ethan has failures and flaws. He is no perfectly good person, and is alright with crime as long as it is in the name of survival(meaning self-defense, stealing). Time has made him a hard man, and easily distrustful. One could argue that when not an Epic, he hates Epics, including himself. This carries over when he is corrupted(except for hating himself). He finds reasons to get rid of allies quickly, preferring human pawns. Ethan has a penchant for strawberries, as well. Battery and Ethan hate each other, and would do anything to keep from becoming each other. Batter sees himself as a hero, while Ethan a sinner. Each one thinks the other is evil.
  20. Yes. Due to the fact that both the person who placed it and the bag knows that it is there, Shallan would see it in the Cognitive Realm(everything is alive, remember?).
  21. I think I'll take my chances.
  22. Correct me if I am wrong, but didn't Megan(an Epic who was far more powerful that Battery) manage to shake off the corruption over time? And the journey to Oregon would be on foot, requiring weeks of travel. This would allow plenty of time for Battery to be purified of the corruption.
  23. Well, let us assume there is a conflicting identity in a single bead. This would allow some inconsistency. I'm working along the principles that beads cannot be created unless a physical object is created. This could allow for discrepancies in thought, because I assume that the Cognitive realm explains and controls how our mind works. Are the people thinking of two different cakes? Or is it the same cake with different icing? Because if they know of a single cake, then only a minor part of the cake's identity would be changed. Schroedinger's cake seems to be most likely.
  24. Oatmeal Raisin cookies aren't spiked, dude, they are too unpopular.
  25. Well, I don't know where he is going to be, but I can summarize his story very simply. After doing battle with a rogue electrical Epic in Washington, Battery leaves the ruins of his "kingdom" in search of another people to rule. Over the course of his journey, his power supply depletes to nothing, and he slowly reverts to his original personality. Ending a lone wanderer, Ethan seeks to start his life over and never use his powers again, but knowing the magic of plot and his overwhelming compassion, he will soon be forced to.
