Mid-Range Game 22: My Little Perfidy
Droughtbringer replied to Herowannabe's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I picked mine for both, I really like to be able to PM other players, so I thought that it would be useful, But I also am a magician in the real world, and I thought that this would be a fun time to RP as one, so I played a Unicorn so that I would be able to do that, also, @Seonid I imagine this as being your cutie mark: The image didn't save...- 628 replies

Mid-Range Game 22: My Little Perfidy
Droughtbringer replied to Herowannabe's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Name: Twilight Blossom Type: Unicorn Cutie Mark: Spade CR: Magician- All posts will contain some sort of magic. This could be a card trick, asking if someone wants to see a card trick, shouting magic words, etc. Twilight Blossom was out, shorty after a performance she had done with some magic tricks, and ran into a changeling. As Twilight was attempting to escape, she started channeling a spell. The changeling attacked at that same moment, and caused the spell to have no form, but only release a wave of energy knocking the changeling back, but the power, combined with the force of the attack, broke part of Twilight's horn off. As a massive amount of pain surged through Twilight's head, she ran off towards home, the changeling not following. When Twilight finally reached her house, she collapsed from exhaustion, pain, and fear. --A while later-- Twilight attempted to cast a basic levitation spell, and the deck of cards in front of her began to wobble. I'm making progress! she thought. As soon as Twilight finished thinking that, a blast of magic energy launched out of her, horn sending her cards, and herself flying in opposite directions. Pain quickly spread across her head. Another migraine. she thought, why do I have to keep getting these? --An even longer while later-- The cards twitched as Twilight focused, then slowly raised up into the air. She was so focused on her task, that she wasn't able to think about how long she had been practicing, day in and day out, to reach this point again. To reach the point that she had been at years prior. She chose a card at random, and slowly moved it across the room, flipping it around while the deck stayed still. As she set the deck down she allowed herself to think again, I still have a long way to go, but I think I can make it. --Wow...even longer later into the place that is called the future-- Twilight slowly moved up, into the spotlight. Her hair and clothing was immaculate, the lights perfect, but still she wanted to shudder at the thought of performing again, one false thought could blow it all. She didn't let herself shudder, of course. She wasn't just Twilight Blossom at that moment, she was a performer, a magician, and she was ready to start again. Well I've never watched MLP before, so for all I know that entire thing could be all weird, and full of holes, discontinuity, and the like. But it was fun writing, and I think that this will be a fun game.- 628 replies

Wow, I was doing really well (or so I think) until I made a mistake, that I thought was going to cost us elims the game, but thanks to my amazing cohorts @Elbereth @TheMightyLopen @BrightnessRadiant @OrlokTsubodai we were able to win. Seriously go upvote something, anything that these guys have posted. At any point, they deserve it. More thoughts will come when I'm not as tired.

1. I have no leads to follow currently, besides some minor suspicions, but I seem to trust most people that I am in contact with, currently. This means that I don't really have anyone to go after that I have a lot of suspicion against. Rand apparently has information that is not available to the rest of us, which gives him an 'advantage' over the rest of us information wise. 2. It's more of...I worded it the one you quoted...let's see if I can do it better here: It's more that I feel like this could be some sort of ploy by the elims. If Rand is an elim and has a talent like Arriving Late or has an elim who can trip him to protect him then this whole 'information' thing could just be a ploy to get us into next cycle, and allow the elims to win. I don't think that that is whats going on, but it very well could be (or something akin to it) and if this lynch goes awry then I plan on putting some stress on Rand and/or his information source next cycle. 3. Part of my vote is that I want to make sure that we don't end up getting vote manipulated and end up getting a double lynch, allowing the elims to win the game if we are (still) completely wrong. 4. Thanks, I try

My big concern, if this turns out to be wrong, is who the source of this information is. This person could be intentionally attempting to lead players astray, set up a mislynch, etc. Also looking at the numbers: I am assuming that this game started with 3 or 4 elims, plus the conversion. That puts us at 4 or 5 elims. We have 13 players left in the game, 5/13 being elims. (Taking the worse estimate) If the elims don't kill an elim (why would they...) and the we don't lynch an elim, and the knights don't kill an elim, and all of those kills go through then we are at 5/10 meaning the elims don't outnumber us...but they are equal with us. ( @A Joe in the Bush that's your definition of outnumber, right? More elims than village, not equal (just being safe)) If the dancer also makes a kill and misses an elim then the game is over. We then have lost. So @Knights @Dancer @Village try to be very careful with your kills this cycle, if it goes wrong then we lose. @Elims Please kill one of the other elims. @Tripper Please stop the elims from killing someone. (Unless they are killing an elim...) Umh...@Joe please don't let me get beat up again...I would die.

Hmm...I have a PM going with Rand and I have a village read on him. I also think that he will be able to pull off something that could win this game for us. I, without all this useful information that is being hinted at, still trust Ecth. (Given my defense of him) But...I also trust Rand and would like to get information if he thinks it's worth it. So I will vote for Ecthelion for now. But if Ecth is innoocient then I don't think I will be able to trust Rand's decision for the rest of this game.

I currently, after talking with them, trust Ecth. First off I scanned Etch and was confirmed that Ecth is not a librarian, which kinda throws off what Rand was saying last cycle with the whole: @randuir @Ecthelion III You can't just trust my word on that, though. We would need another Librarian to scan Ecth, just to prove that he is not a librarian (We could, theoretically, both be Hushlanders, and attempting to throw the village off with this play, though) There is also the whole marriage thing, and with that I think that it is a cool mechanic, that I have had fun participating with. I can understand just wanting to get married. It seems like it would be something fairly useful, and weather or not you had a power it could allow you to be useful to the village. With having a power you can give it to someone you trust, and not having a power would allow you to try and hide actual power trades distracting the elims from being able to just target people with powers. Conclusion: I have a decent amount of trust for Ecth, but, as with everyone, I will keep an eye on him.

Don't have much time to post today due to real life...I will try to be more active in the coming cycles, but no promises. Sorry. Sabaneta Smedry - She admitted to being an Elim, and Joe would probably let us lynch her. In reality, my current reads are Rand - Village, he has been more than helpful, and gives me a village read. He was able to fool me (completely) in LG30 though. Lopen - Village, he has proposed a double (or mult-)lynch a few times, and I don't think that an Elim would be willing to do something that could end so badly, so blatantly. Steph - Village, Well she is my wife. (we talked a decent amount in PMs and I feel fairly certain that I can trust her now, Plus I don't have a (non RP) talent so I feel like, as an elim, she would have been searching for a talent a lot more before marrying me. (She proposed)) As far as Elim reads...I have a few small ideas, but would have to take quite a bit of time to go back through and write down solidified thoughts, but I don't currently have that time. Also if we want to pull off a double lynch, lynching Sabaneta would be a good one.

That's the big reason that I wanted to be able to discuss this before just saying "Hey, everyone do this!" But also, in counter to that, we could use the tripper to protect people who would appear to have a lot of contacts.

Ah, now that it is cycle 2, I have some plans that we should talk about, as a village, and see how we want to do this. So I figure that if we request the info of who made PMs with who last cycle, we should be able to narrow down the list of possible elims by seeing if they made PMs with each other, as an elim would not want to waste a PM making one with another elim, as they could easily just use their doc to communicate. I understand if people don't want to use this idea, but I thought I would propose it. I won't reveal who (if anyone) PMed me yet, but I failed to make one last cycle.

I am. But I don't want us to rely too heavily on the information I can gather from it. (no point in denying it now ) If I find any librarians I will probably PM them, and talk with them a bit. If they seem suspicious I will reveal them to the thread, that is also what I would suggest other Librarians do, for the time being.

Note on votes: Please be careful with leaving a singular vote on someone, it can end fairly badly and be mean and such, as there is enough vote manip out there, and there are people out there who really want a multi person lynch *cough*Lopen*cough* and might do something there to guarantee that it happens. So just be careful of leaving a singular vote on someone. @Cluny the Scourge With that in mind I am willing to to take my vote off of you, but you have to respond to it first.

I don't see much reason for there to be no one being a librarian. It wouldn't create any of the confusion that Joe thrives off of. Scenario 1: All Librarians We all start scanning people like crazy, and the first person we scan is revealed to be a librarian, then we scan someone that, if person A is an elim, is likely to be an elim as well through there interactions. Based off of this info we all build our own elim teams in our head, and we end up believing it quite a bit. Chaos ensues. Scenario 2: No Librarians We all start being like Librarians do this! Don't do this! Give me a book! And no one does anything, because if someone were to say that they were a librarian cause they could be scanned by another librarian and proven wrong, probably lynched. Scenario 3: One Librarian We all start looking for one person to come forward, and this one person is looking around can't find any librarians, and is lead off of the course of the elims, and tries really hard to find someone but is dead before they do anything. Even better they announce to the thread that the best guess for an Elim is not a librarian, and they escape the lynch thanks to that. Scenario X: X A lot of other possibilities for trolly-ness exist Conclusion: The end Out of those Scenario 2 would be the least interesting to watch play out, I don't see much of a reason to let that all just unfold and have practically nothing happen in the game thanks to the role. It would be kinda interesting, but probably not what Joe would be going for.

Joe would do this literally just because he wanted to. He is that type of GM...there is a reason this game is titled "You don't want to play this"

This is Joe we are talking about, he could quite possibly have just made everyone a Librarian just to watch the shenanigans, or only made one person a Librarian just to confuse them. This could end badly Interestingly. Finals...Pff who cares about those?

I've noticed that @Elbereth hasn't really been saying much in the thread... So this is my encouragement to come say something! I also understand that you are GMing a game that looks like it take a lot of time and effort, but I have an idea of how much time and effort it takes, I'm GMing one that is practically the same game as that one, so I think you should be able to spend some time and come join us. Also does anyone else have any suspicions? I have already stated mine above, and would like to get some ideas in my head before I end up heading off to bed. And that is an interesting idea... @A Joe in the Bush Is it a scan role or a hey you know this thing role?

Although this could be really useful, it could also lead to a lot of mistrust placed upon our revealed Freeworlder Librarians, them coming forward essentially is like saying "Hey look at me, I have a decent chance of being an elim!" And that could be scary, so I feel like it would be best if they don't step forward, but we should have everyone say something, and try to do what the village, as a whole, wants, not just me. In the second half of last cycle @Cluny the Scourge said something that I don't agree with; And I don't entirely agree with this logic, At this point in the cylce Yitzi2 has actually done quite a bit, he called out Bridge's weirdness, posted a lot of RP, tried to get people to post (Orlok, namely), Whereas Cluny did...one thing. He talked about Yitzi2. When Yitzi2 responded he never responded back. I find that very small amount of contribution more suspicious than anything Yitzi did last cycle, so, Cluny Also, guys, don't forget to send out a PM, I would suggest to send one out earlier rather than later as sometimes life can get in the way, and you can forget...which is something that would never happen to someone like me...right? I had planned to start a PM this morning, after more people had posted, and due to school was not able to sign in and start one. I would suggest starting PMs earlier, while you are thinking about it, compared to later. Don't be like me. I am not a good person to play follow the leader with

It does prevent you from getting married to someone else. So...we need to play this carefully. If only Smedrys get married than the elims know who to target, and if everyone just marries someone random then we run out of people to give talents to...probably take a cycle or two to plan who to marry, then get married fast.
