  1. Aslo he is claerly aware of Plato's Theory Of Forms from how the physical realm, the cognitive realm, and the spiritual realm work.
  2. This. 1000 times this. Read his annotation from chapter 6 of Elantirs, published online, and you will understand
  3. Also I have been rereading Elantris lately and I couldn't help but get the whole "life is suffering" connection to Buddhism thing. And let's not forget the whole yin-yang Taoism with Honor and Cultivation in Roshar
  4. There is a wordpress blog called Race For The Iron Throne where a historian goes over A Song Of Ice And Fire chapter by chapter. I meant something like that for the Cosmere only by a religious studies major.
  5. Basically what the title post said. I sometimes wonder what someone with a Religious Studies major would make of the Cosmere.
  6. Now that I think about it, you ARE on to something.
  7. While it is DIFFICULT, Brandon ALSO said it was NOT impossible to bond multiple spren. And Venli DOES show a precedent fro multiple sprean. Even if her precedent is Voidspren and the more normal type. That being said I admit I could be off my rocker. Speaking of being off my rocker, I also don't think these other two bondsmiths that I mentioned will stay bond smiths for long but only until the end of the first arc.
  8. Well the ONE Bondsmith we know screwed up BIG time, his brother, who we are told is a proto-Bondsmith basically started the unification wars but saw things couldn’t continue that way. This could easily be misleading given that we only have two samples to go on, but there seems to be a bit of a pattern here. Screwing up big time and admiting your mistakes. (That being said I am hoping in the future that the screw-ups don’t all have to be so big.) So as long as we’re all making crazy guesses here’s my two. Venli, and someone from the Shin. Probably even the Shin who said Szeth was truthless.
  9. "He gets knocked down, but he gets up again" Sorry I couldn't resist. In any case it's true. Also do you mind If I share this stuff on the Oathbringer re-read where appropriate.
  10. Speaking of Yin-Yang I wonder if a fractal pattern could change into one. More specifically could the shape of the land change?
  11. Sorry. And I KNEW you didn't have to be broken to bond ala Lopen. However I WAS thinking from the point of view of Yin-Yang symbolism. That combined with how little we knew about the stonewards (and another crazy WMG I don't even want to go into because it's even MORE crazy) was what made me think of it.
  12. Speaking of Adolin HAS changed. He might not have changed much but the change is there. IF YOU ARE right about him being an Edgedancer maybe in the next book, once Dalinar’s confessions comes out, Adolin will tell Sadeas’ wife (can’t remember her name) about the fact that he killed her husband. Because let’s be honest, Adolin has PROBABLY been operating under some misconceptions here. He might have thought that Sadeas was responsible for his mom’s death. While I doubt it will change his mind that it needed to be done it may make him re-examine his motives about why he did it. It might also make him realize that in some ways Sadeas and his own wife had their own warped marriage similar to that of his parents, and that his wife has been ignored while in her genuine greif and he is the one person who can give her answers. So in that case he would be listening to those who were ignored. how does that idea sound?
  13. Kind of a random thought but I wonder if it’s possible to be broken WITHOUT realizing or thinking you are broken. Maybe that’s the reason that the patron herald of the Stonewards lasted so long. He basically broke a long time ago but took forever to realize it. The reason I bring is this up is because of all the talk about Adolin and Maya. It’s been speculated before that Shalash, patron of the Lightweavers might end up becoming a Dustbringer. And when you think about their opposite positions on the Knight Radiant board it makes sense, she’s changed so much she’s become her opposite. Well guess what position is opposite the Edgedancers, aka the type of Knight Radiant Maya belonged to, the Stonewards. Maybe similar to how Shalash will become a whole new type of Radiant/Kinght (in theory at least), THAT’S how Maya will be revived as a whole new type of spren. I could be wrong of course but it seems to fit. Adolin was born under the symbol of the patron herald of the Stonewards. Also IF he is broken but doesn’t realize it (and such a thing is possible, etc,) the reason why he doesn’t attract his own spren could be because of the reason mentioned with Maya.
  14. @cubelithlet me know when you get through Oathbringer. We can have FUN discussions then.
  15. Thanks. I can appreciate that. For what’s it’s worth I think you may be on to something, based on intext hints. I won’t give any spoilers, but I will say this. Semetry has a kind of value in-world. Names are often JUST shigh of being symmetrical as it’s considered blasphemous to be exactly so, and there’s a type of five-part religious poem called a ketek that also has a symmetrical form. You can find SOME echo of the ketek’s form in the books structure if you look carefully enough. So I would NOT be at all surprised if the first ideal MIGHT be meant to be looked at both ways. And I would even less surprised about the vows as a whole. (Or at least that’s what Brandon Sanderson is setting up.) Because while the first ideal is three part instead of five part there IS some symmetry there. MORE IMPORTANTLY each order of the Knights Radiant has FIVE VOWS. Given the Ketek has FIVE PARTS and is SYMMETRICAL I doubt this is a coincidence.
  16. Whoever gave me the rep thanks. Also, I was kinda hoping there was enough there to promote discussion. I understand if not given the context of that statement, a death rattle in an epigraph. But still.
  17. Someday Soviet Rosar will be REAL I tell you! EDIT: I’ll stop now.
  18. Am I allowed to tell him?
  19. I screwed up. Please delete. Real post is underneath
  20. There is an epigraph from The Way Of Kings (one of the death rattles that you might find interesting) This is the epigraph from chapter 60 specifically if you want to look it up yourself. “The death is my life, the strength becomes my weakness, the journey has ended.” So since you mentioned a possible reverse meaning. And here seems to be one (possibly) right in the text. If in epigraph Death Rattle form. Make of it what you will.
  21. In peacetime would Windrunners be the Police officers? I know it MAY sound crazy but think of the policeman’s ideal to protect and serve? Or think of the progression of a windrunners ideals as the struggles many policemen face between the ideals of the job and the reality? Heck even the tension between Windrunners and Skybreakers makes sense if you think of it along the lines of the tension between police officers and prosecutors. Maybe I am crazy to bring this up but I had a theory that the back 5 will deal with the Knights Radiant having to deal with peacetime. And the differennt challenges it brings.
  22. For the record I am beginning to have my doubts about my theory. (Big parts of it anyways.) Mainly because I came up with a new crazy theory.
