  1. As far as spheres are concerned, they can be handled with practical effects. Glowing spheres wouldn't be that difficult to make, since you won't really be using close-ups for 95% of shots with them.
  2. There's a WoB that explicitly says that Leras swapped out cadmium and bendalloy for atium/malatium (bolded segment is the relevant part): Leras could have technically made it eighteen metals, but keeping it at sixteen was all part of his hint system. That's why atium/malatium were incorporated as the external temporal metals, and not cadmium/bendalloy.
  3. On the upside, that means that we basically get the coolest first episode ever.
  4. Oh man, Reus is amazing. It's such a beautiful game, and it's so complex and now I want to play it again.
  5. Seems like a good fit for Sesemalax Dar, since the place is supposed to have gouges to ensure that highstorms don't mess up the city. I'm guessing buildings are built into the cliff faces, since that's the only way to make sure the highstorm doesn't flood the entire city whenever it hits.
  6. Durandal, Gram, Caladbolg, Excalibur, Arondight, Kusanagi-no-Tsurugi WLIU, name seven stars in the night sky, excluding Polaris and Vega. And no using the Bayer designation, because that's waaaay too easy. And yes, this is revenge for my constellation question!
  7. If you're under 18, and it's the sort of stubble that you're going to want to shave off before it develops into a proto-beard, then yeah, it's pretty fast. Otherwise, it's about average. It takes me about two/three days to get a decent amount of stubble, but that's because I shave my hairs extremely closely (smoothness in three directions!)
  8. Honestly, I wish more people had the second part figured out.
  9. The one thing that absolutely drives me up the wall is when people pull up beside me when I'm trying to do a left turn. There's this one particular junction between my apartment and college where there's the main road, and the road I live on. I can pull in between the two traffic flows and wait for an opening, but sometimes some moron will pull up right beside me. Then I'm forced to wait for a longer time because I can't see because they're blocking my way argh. As far as things that can seriously ruin my mood in the mornings, this is pretty close to topping the list, and it's absolutely annoying.
  10. This is my jam now! To make things a little more fun, I'm going to name less common elements! Astatine (At) Tungsten (W) Gallium (Ga) Osmium (Os) Manganese (Mn) WLIU, name five constellations in night sky, excluding Ursa Major, Ursa Minor, and Orion.
  11. Words of advice: 1) You've got a ways to go, and there's plenty of time to try growing out facial hair. While it's not unheard of for people to be able to grow facial hair around 14/15, I'd recommend waiting until you're at least 17, maybe even as late as 19. A lot of the freshmen I see in college try to grow facial hair and it's horrible when there's patches. 2) Know thine facial hair. This is absurdly important. If you don't grow facial hair beside your mouth, a goatee is out of the question. It's better to know what your genetics let you grow than to just try and do everything at once. Not everyone can grow a bushy lumberjack beard, and that's fine (I can't do a goatee, for instance). It's better to style around what you can grow than to pretend growing something you can't. 3) Proper shaving is incredibly important. I'm not sure what type of razor you use, but I find that a cartridge razor tends to give me razor burn, which isn't fun. I use a double-edged razor, which gives incredibly clean shaves, although I'm not sure if you want to try that at this point in time. Regardless, skin care and taking care of your facial hair are high priorities. Growing a beard is like nurturing a plant - it's a delicate process that not everyone values. Take pride in it, and work to the best of your ability with what you have, and you'll have something good.
  12. Yes, it is. Malay technically refers to the overall language group, of which there are a number of individual languages. Bahasa Melayu (also referred to as Malay in conversation) is spoken by Malaysians, and what is most often understood as "Malay," but there's also Bahasa Indonesia, the official language of Indonesia, which is super close. Ooh, this looks fun. Let's see how high I can get on this: Singapore Malaysia India Pakistan Bangladesh Brunei Papua New Guinea Sri Lanka Australia Canada New Zealand Guyana Jamaica Bahamas Ghana South Africa Kenya Namibia Uganda Tanzania Rwanda Swaziland Tonga Trinidad & Tobago Nigeria Okay, wow. 25 names is not fun. Takes me back to geography class in high school WLIU, name twelve types of birds found in North America, none of which start with the same letter.
  13. Rick roll, nyancat, Be Like Bill, Doge, JOHN CEEEEEEEEENAAAAAAAAAA, "Not Sure If _______ or ______" (the Futurama one), Mr. Bones' Wild Ride, the one comic with Batman slapping Robin, Bye Felicia, and let's see... "You Are Already Dead"? I'm not entirely sure what exactly constitutes a meme, but this took me like ten minutes just to put together. WLIU, name 10 Rush songs.
  14. IIRC, cadmium and bendalloy wouldn't have worked because Preservation messed with Allomancy in order to allow for the presence of atium (and presumably malatium) Mistings, in order to burn off Ruin's body and weaken him*. It gets fixed during Sazed's ascension, though. *It's been forever and a half since I've read Hero of Ages, but I do remember there being a section about the fact that 1/16 of the people who Snapped died(?), but that was because they were atium Mistings. I might be misremembering this, though.
  15. Vin. Gaz doesn't have a chance in a fight, and he's not the best person to have around.
  16. I wouldn't say that she's "lagging" in any sense of the word. In those six years, she's become proficient enough at Soulcasting to Soulcast at a distance (we're not sure if that's a unique perk of Elsecallers), and she's capable enough in Elsecalling to be able to escape from Shadesmar. She's also at least of the Third Ideal, assuming that the Third Ideal always grants a Shardblade. Jasnah is probably the one fledgling Radiant who has the strongest grasp on her Surges, just because she's naturally the sort of person who would try to learn the most about them, and because she's got the longest known bond to date (maybe besides Ym, but he's a goner).
  17. We know that there's a Shard who just wants to survive Odium, and there's at least one more Shard that's been Splintered by the O-man.
  18. That's precisely why it's so amazing. We have no real idea if Rashek's bracers survived the Catacendre, but we do know that they were his atiumminds (I'm away from my Era 1 books now, so someone correct me if I am wrong) that he used for Compounding youth. The Bands we see in BoM are an entirely separate thing, but because bands also refer to bracers, people assumed that's what they were, when it's literally just a banded spearhead made up of a whole lot of metals.
  19. Well, it definitely mislead a whole lot of people during the book, since they were expecting bracers and got a banded spearhead instead. I should try to get a WoB on the matter sometime.
  20. I just checked on my Kindle version, and Chapter 7 has a scene where Wax is testing an aluminum bullet, and he comments how it's an alloy, but he doesn't know the composition, nor does it match other alloys. Here's the passage:
  21. It's mentioned in Alloy of Law that pure aluminum isn't good for bullets, so they've had to develop alloys which still had aluminum's resistance, but could be used in firearms.
  22. The thing about pewter savants is that while they can undergo more punishment while burning pewter, this often means that they also ignore the effects of whatever's causing the pain in the first place. This leads to a lot of Thugs dying before they can fully become savants, so an actual Pewter savant is fairly rare. But, for the most part, Bronze, Copper and Tin are the most common types of Allomancy where someone can feasibly become a savant.
  23. Ah, but was it not Spook who once, in his infinite wisdom, said "having the has Sazed a metal?" Also, if we're talking pre-Catacendre, then I'm still going to go with Spook. Being a Tin savant is surprisingly strong, and Breeze wouldn't be able to win against post-HoA Spook.
