LG 111 - Day 1: A Locked House Mystery
Mint11 replied to Araris Valerian's topic in Sanderson Elimination
sorry I didn't know you tended to get suspected on D1 (did you mention it last game? I might have forgotten). to be fair though, I thought some other trains would pick up the closer we get to rollover so we'd have future votes to analyze but no such luck -
LG 111 - Day 1: A Locked House Mystery

well now I'm shipping it I do think voting is more productive in finding baddies when we put pressure on players, so I'm going to break the tie. These are all over the place rn which makes it easy for someone (or many someone's) to hide. this post from mist reads village to me. not many people are putting out suspicions so far, so I don't see an incentive for someone who's against the village to draw attention to themselves like that I'm also inclined to read fallen as village for suggesting we prioritize clues. Information is the main advantage whoever the elim(s) is has over the village right now, I imagine they'd want to keep it. Not much to go on, but I'm going to vote Wahr. I'm seeing a couple posts pointing out that exploration and clues are unreliable. Which is true, but I'd be curious on thoughts on how we should best go about solving this @Through the living Wahr Mint(1): Striker Qian(1): Wahr Doc(1): Dive Fizz(1): ____/mippo Wahr(2): Fizz, Mint Fallen(1): Mist Akimiko(1): Doc ___/mippo(1): Qian Upstairs: Dive, Doc, Ver, Fallen, Middle Floor: Wahr, Star, ____, Fizz, Conure, Basement: Mist, Striker, Mint, -

okay so I thought the scenario would actually be revealed on D1. this should be interesting hello! I don't have much going, except that I chose to explore the basement. also that doc PM'ed me my guess yesterday was that most people would choose to explore either the upstairs or basement, which would lead to scenario 2 or 3. I wanted to be village this game, so I figured basement would be my safest bet. of course, if I do get converted later, I will show no mercy current tally: Upstairs: doc, divergent, ver Ground: ___ (aka mippo), wahr, fizz, star Basement: mist, mint @Through the living Wahr @Divergent @Doc12 @Fizz9 @___ any particular reason you guys chose to explore the floor you did? edit: I put my vote in the wrong place :') fixed now edit2: last time, unless I got something else wrong.... -
Luminair was out of breath by the time she reached the top of the hill. It's dangerous, her children had said. Rubbish. It doesn't matter, they said. It mattered to her. You're going to throw out your back, they said. Well just because her bad knees gave her a hard time on the climb up didn't mean she couldn't make it in one piece! People had always talked about ghosts up here, and the stories had only grown more wild after the mansion appeared. Half the town was scared to death. You couldn't talk sense into any of them. Well she wasn't going back down there until she got to the bottom of this. "Don't mind if I do, lad," she said, taking one of the s'mores being offered around. (@___) Luminair took a look around at the crowd that had formed. Hopefully they were more level-headed. (okay after getting a cosmere refresher, I decided my character idea doesn't make much sense here so I am tweaking)

how do you guys come up with the coolest characters while it takes me forever to think of a concept my character will be Luminair who is sure ghosts don't exist. also if magic exists in the world, she is an anti-magic conspiracy theorist

oooh I'm down is the existence of magic common knowledge in this world? I have a character idea but it might not work depending on the answer

these are the possibilities I'm thinking of right now e!Ink, v!Ver Ink votes down both coco and Ver (this could be misdirection but that feels like it would have been a risky move) e!Ver, v!Ink, e!TJ: Ver felt that TJ is cleared, because TJ was the only other person who knew Ver was prefect and the elims did not kill Ver. And they've continued to strongly reiterate that TJ is village. I don't think an elim Ver would do that for a village TJ Drake has pushed both the lynch on coco and now Ink, so e!Ver could implicate e!Drake, though e/v is also possible. Honestly if true, it would have been very good teamwork on the elims' part, if both TJ and Drake are lying. e!TJ, v!Ver, v!Ink TJ also voted down every other prefect last cycle. if Ver does flip elim, I think it'll narrow our pool of suspects quite a bit. and my reasons from last cycle still stand, even the one for coco : edit: I think the strategy drake mentioned around only voting negative on one of the suspects is a good one, and makes it harder for the elims to hide/manipulate the vote. so my -3 will be going to grass and tbd on others -

village read on Drake because of the chaos vibes from both Aman and Drake village read on TJ, because otherwise I don't think he'd share doc's owl mail or bring potential suspicion on himself as a prefect of the remaining prefects: Ink has been giving off vibes of pure innocence in the gryffindor PM lol but that's mostly based on tone rather than content, so I don't know if that means much Ver has voted for a killed prefect in both cycles If I'm counting correctly, Twinstorm and Fallen did also. Question mark on mippo since they forgot to vote this cycle, but they voted for Mist on C1 I see a lot of suspicion on coco, but to be honest, I'm not seeing why they're getting more suspicion than Ink or Ver (possible I haven't read closely enough, I've been skimming on and off for all day and am realizing I should have come on sooner...). I still think it's odd that e!coco hasn't gotten positive votes from fellow team members aaand I have 10 minutes left to submit votes. My -3 is going to Ver, I think I'll be waffling with the other two until the last minute @coco.pudding Ink is prefect and I'm not sure what Drake is up to -

I didn't like the votes coalesce'ing around Fallen. Doc's question, I think, was valid wrt why Fallen got positive votes. But for Fallen to have gotten so much suspicion when IMO the elims didn't have much incentive to vote positively for e!Fallen seemed strange to me and at the time it felt like Qian was piggybacking on Doc's and Aman's stated supicions. -

also gonna adopt this philosophy, will deal with the actual gameplay not right now (related, I'm not ignoring you coco, or well I am, but just for tonight. will reply later) Pali paced up and down the Entrance Hall with her head down, to the great annoyance of students who had to dodge her on their way in and out of the castle. There was an awful lot of death going on, more than usual for Hogwarts, where in her experience, the usual number of murders was zero. Azalea was gone, Lamar was gone, his ghost of a sister also gone. Dumbledore had sent Big Leo home to recover, allegedly from a herbology accident. But who knew what the truth was. Rumors had taken over the school. She had hoped for an exciting year ahead of her, but she couldn't have predicted any of this. Pali loved a good bit of chaos. But this was more than she ever bargained for. First years were crying in their beds. People were scared to go to class (not her, of course). Some of the other students had even refused to duel Pali, because they thought she'd try to kill them! What else was she supposed to do with her free time, study? They needed to figure out this mess before things got even more out of hand. Gosh. Things next year had better go back to normal. -

Okay now I get where the misunderstanding of me not trying to look inactive comes from. When I said this: what I meant is that I don't want to ding others for being inactive. As in, I didn't want to lean elim based on inactivity. But yeah, I did mention in the house PM that I was just very busy with irl stuff but kept being pulled back to SE because its fun and I haven't played in a long time.- 849 replies

Mid-Range 76: Or Worse, Expelled!: A Harry Potter Mafia Game
Mint11 replied to Archer's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Honestly I didn't really have a strong read on anyone last cycle, so mostly vibes? I knew my +1 would go to you, but the +2 and +3 were a toss up. My trust in Mist was pretty high towards the beginning of the cycle and it then waned. Not because of anything they did really, but as more activity happened, the more that a strong village read felt pre-emptive for C1 (which it was IMO). I see what you're saying, but I don't really feel that the gap between the two is as noteworthy as you do. Mist posted a lot, but I don't see how that on its own is a strong village move. Mist's slip thing felt village and Fallen pushing for house PM activity felt village also. @Amanuensis I only had two suspicions. I guess I could have done a -1/-3 or -2/-3, but my general C1 indecisiveness had me not want to use the strongest vote unless I actually had three people to vote for. I'm reading too many people as village.... I need to get more suspicious. The most interesting thing this cycle is the alignment between Aman and Doc. What I'm seeing in thread is Doc asking questions that seem to be prodding for relationships between me, Ink, Fallen, and Grass (this post). Aman later posts that Fallen and I are among his top suspicions. Aman says he's sure coco and Doc are village (I assume because Doc was asking questions that were also on his mind, correct me if I'm wrong). And then later Doc also shares that Fallen and I are top suspicions for them as well. I don't really have much else to say on this rn, it just struck me as noteworthy. I think its likely an elim sits in at least one of the -1/-2 votes for Araris, since it lets them join the train while still staying a bit under the radar. I already explained why I have a village lean on coco. That leaves Grass, TJ, and TUM. TUM has been participating but I haven't seen many strong opinions other than thoughts around general town strategy. That's kind of an easy way an elim who wanted to stay active to participate since IMO reasonable minds can disagree on strategy, even if they're all village. Grass' posts have given me village vibes, and TJ I'm neutral. I like his analysis but he's also one of the players I find hard to read. I also don't really get the train forming on Fallen. It sounds like the main thing people find suspicious is that she got some unearned positive votes? But to what end would the elims go out of their way to give a fellow teammate positive votes when they're not in danger of expulsion or in the running for one of the bonuses? So far it looks like Doc, Aman, and Qian are voting for her. Going back to my earlier note, Doc seems to have planted the seed for Fallen, Aman had the same thoughts, and then Qian it looks like added himself to the train? I don't think Aman would fake a mind meld with Doc if he was elim (regardless of Doc's alignment) though it's not impossible. So I'm going to say my negative votes as of right now will also be going to Doc and Qian. Hopefully I don't get ninja'd here: (3-9) Miss: Doc12 (1-3), Aman (1-3), Qian (1-3) (3-9) Qian: Aman (1-3),Wahr (1-3), Mint (1-3) (2-6) Mint: Doc12 (1-3), Aman (1-3), (2-6) Coco: Wahr (1-3), Qian (1-3) (2-6) TUM: Aman (1-3), Mint (1-3) (1-3) Ink: Doc12 (1-3), (1-3) Doc: Mint (1-3), I really want to hear from more folks on who they're thinking of casting negative votes on. I'll probably come online again before rollover, but I doubt I'll have time to post again. "Eat slugs, Slytherin!" @Qianweilian- 849 replies

Mint11 replied to Archer's topic in Sanderson Elimination
From my post on my village reads last cycle: Honestly there isn't much to go off of on C1, but I think its important to commit to votes regardless. I have no idea what Aman's up to, and I'm also pretty sure the auror role is made up. Regardless, he's definitely lying about something which feels like a risky play for an elim. So I'm reading him as village now. coco, hopper, and twinstorm were all marked on the chopping block last cycle and received no positive votes. I'd expect elims to try to protect their own, so I'm reading all for of them as village as well. Okay I'm now going to do my best to resist temptation and log off for the rest of the day.- 849 replies

I mean, was Fallen pushing for a vote to happen or for them to personally become prefect? I interpreted it as the former. Okay yeah, this is a fair argument. I know this isn't the only reason you give, but the concrete example helps me wrap my mind around the strategy. -

But votes are published next round anyways. Does is matter if people are pushed to explain them now versus later? I think we should all discuss suspicions in thread, but I don't see how sharing the exact vote counts ahead of time is helpful. Could you say a little more on how posting votes ahead of time makes it harder for elims to misdirect the vote? I feel like I might be missing something. Yeah fair point My current village reads are Mist and Fallen. Mist, because how they tried to catch Aman's "slip up" very early in the cycle felt village to me. It was also mentioned that Fallen was pushing for a prefect to be selected, which also sounds like a village move. Curious if anyone in Ravenclaw could elaborate on how the prefect vote has been going and if there has been any disagreement or debate on who should be prefect? @mippo (since you had mentioned people are just voting) This early post of doc's gave me village vibes: Seems like Doc has stabbed a number of people in the back, but seeing as I'm not one of them yet, I'll lean village on them I have an elim read on coco and a slight elim lean on Aman? I feel like coco's posts have been fairly noncontroversial/mostly agreeing with things others have brought up: This post of coco's did give me a village feel (might be that I just like the player by player breakdown). Though it's not particularly controversial given others' opinions thus far either. Ironically, coco's description of Araris pretty much matched my gut reaction ("Mildly suspicious mostly because I feel like he has been in thread and said some things but just nothing stood out to me as being particularly either helpful or controversial.") but from what I remember, this is pretty typical of Araris' playstyle, so I'm not inclined to give him an elim read based on that. Aman goes full on analysis no matter what, the only thing I really have on him is this felt a little strange: It's a very general statement amidst a lot of detailed analysis. -

wait did I say that? I wouldn't say thats true and it looks like the guests that I thought were leaving today are leaving at an undetermined date so yeah, between that and work, I'm in and out I do want to post reads because those contributions give everyone important info as we sus each other out. but establishing opinions on other players is hard for me. I'll do my best but irl stuff will probably limit my headspace -

this is so rad I don't want to look at inactivity too early in the game, but I'm also wary of how little we've seen of Ravenclaw so far. Posting votes does give elims more of an edge than villagers IMO. I'm interested in thoughts around sharing votes in the house PM, instead of in thread, to help deduce which houses the elims are in. The downside of course is that if elims have access to all the house PMs, then this will give them an edge over village. I'll share reads later when I can get on a computer/have some more energy. -

(oh I'm down) Pali looked over, suddenly cold and serious. "Murder. Possibly." Then she grinned again. "Or probably an elaborate prank. Mcgonagall reckons its Fred and George. Legendary even for them if it was." She looks with pity at the first years. "Might've been a bit much for them though."
