Intense. Give the artist all the love.
  2. Yes. Era 1 always had the feel of higher stakes. You can feel that Era 2 is more of a placeholder that was inserted then expanded to be a part of Cosmere.
  3. @Kingsdaughter613 Excellent thoughts. I really feel the same way with a number of them.
  4. All spren are splinters which means they are sentient. That means that there cannot be spren on the gas giants. The spren do not gain sentience from the nahel bond, they appear to gain the power to influence the physical realm more strongly while maintaining their sentience there. It has been clearly indicated that at least some of the unbonded spren which form nahel bonds are from high-functioning societies before they crossed, such as Wyndle's type of spren which had a group which presided and decided over who to bond to. It seems to me that he's referring to a reading from one of the three planets of importance, not the unimportant ones. What's interesting to me is that the question was from a WoR Q&A which implies that the reading was probably from WoR.
  5. I don't think spren can manifest as a fluid metal. It seems to be that they need to dematerialize every time in order to change the shape, as that is what Syl was doing. Therefore, the constantly changing skeleton idea wouldn't work because there would be a period where there would be no bones, in which case the kandra would start to collapse, then there might not be room for the spren to materialize inside the kandra, and nothing would work.
  6. I'm fairly certain that there's a WoB that a spren can manifest as separate objects, but wouldn't normally since it would require some complex mental gymnastics and splitting of themselves.
  7. I get what he's going for. Basically what he's thinking is this: Consider these arbitrary numbers: Based on how you're walking/running, you're accelerating yourself upwards 4.9 m/s^2 each step, and you're taking 2 steps every second, so you're cancelling out gravity and remaining in the same place vertically. However, with steelrunning you would be upping your steps/s, so you would be overcompensating for gravity and pushing off from the ground and make your gait into a low bound. Therefore, increased gravity acceleration would be necessary to stop that. This is technically correct. However, increasing gravity is an explanation only if you're assuming they're maintaining the same gait. If they are using a modified gait which decreases upwards force and increases horizontal force, they could move without a bounding gait. They would probably look more speed skaters, with a steep forward lean.
  8. It's changing your effective mass, not how gravity is affecting you. Also excellent point. It is still impossible to go to zero since you still have the weight of your metalminds. Although, this does make me wonder. You can't store jewelry and the like, but can you store the mass of piercings or metals you've swallowed? If so, then it could be theoretically possible.
  9. It's not deadly. Brandon describes it as a plague of sniffles. It's just scary because it's never happened before.
  10. He isn't a worldhopper so he hasn't been to another world, and I think there was something which says that he hasn't left either.
  11. Shardblades can cut aluminum, though I'm suspicious that there might be something else going on there. In general, I don't think breaking a sprenblade (the type of shardblade you all seem to be referring to) would really do much. Living sprenblades would likely just return to the cognitive realm then return as a completed blade once more, with the spren just undergoing some degree of discomfort in the process. They can manifest as separate objects, so I'm assuming it doesn't kill them. Dead sprenblades, I'm a little less sure about, but I feel like it might have the effect of returning the investiture forming the blade to the cognitive realm. Other shardblades? Honorblades, I think would just break. The other type of shardblade we've encountered mainly outside of SA would too, but I can't imagine a force strong enough to do so outside of shards.
  12. My point was entirely about them using it to delay exhaustion. I made that comment in response to someone saying they would be too tired to have sex normally, meaning that they could burn pewter to not be tired, then sleep like normal.
  13. This isn't a theory. Brandon has confirmed it in a WoB. They don't get sick normally because of all the he ambient investiture on Roshar.
  14. Burning pewter solves that problem though.
  15. Large quantities of investiture change people over time. It's the nature of investiture as it alters the vessel it is in in order to better contain it.
  16. I believe it is mentioned that something was going around the Purelake in the interlude. Either way, it's not that important, just the sniffles. It's not dangerous to them, just surprising since Rosharans don't normally get sick.

    RACE!

Regular or twinborn steel/steel steelrunners also have a max speed, before friction would start hurting them. On the other hand, an Edgedancer who doesn't feel friction would have a much higher max speed, plus would be physically augmented with stormlight in order to resist any strain on the body as well. So in the long run, I don't see how an Edgedancer couldn't reach a higher speed than a steelrunner.
  18. I don't think there's a direct WoB for this, but it's more an expansion from what we've been told. Odium's power can be felt in the entire system, so it feels more like he's bound to the system than a single world, and is more choosing to remain on Braize.
  19. There's going to be a surgebinder/allomancer duel, not that self-contained. Fair point, but I think he's said he does mean to make more of a complete book or series, not just a behind the scenes which encompasses a lot. Here's the main quote I'm going off of. I guess the quote does show he does intend Dragonsteel to be a big marketer. (Spoiler for size)
  20. Depends how angled the wall is.
  21. Someone of the series will be kept to be more self-contained. I believe SA is one of those. However, it appears that Mistborn is going to be fairly open to a degree. Going further, Brandon has said that he plans Dragonsteel to be so open and full of cross-references, he's envisioning not even selling the book, since he feels it wouldn't be fair to people just pulling books from a store shelf, or making people have to read a library to understand what is happening in it.
  22. It's the molecular structure of the metals which create the pathway, not the constituents. Hmm. I wonder if an advance enough society could create a material which essentially mimics the atomic and molecular structures close enough such that they could be used in place of metals for allomancy.

    Hoid book

I believe he always did intend to have Mistborn, Dragonsteel and Stormlight Archives act as the anchors to the Cosmere saga. Also, the idea for the space opera has been around since near the beginning; he originally pitched Mistborn as three trilogies covering three periods, the pure fantasy, 20th century and space age.

    Hoid book

Hoid is functionally immortal. He has been around since the Shattering. His books will be Dragonsteel and Mistborn Era 4, the space opera.
  25. That's hasn't been revealed as far as I'm aware. My feeling is that the asterisk is along the lines of why he isn't displaying his full Herald potential despite having his Honorblade. So what Brandon is saying is that he has his Honorblade, but he doesn't have the power he used to have when he had it.
