  1. If it was based on the mother's form, I think it would be form at conception instead of birth, since the mother bonding with a spren probably wouldn't change the form of the child. It also appears that Parshendi give birth in mateform, seeing as Eshonai mentioned that she spent a year in it when she wanted a child. This can also help us estimate the gestation period of a Parshendi fetus, if anyone is concerned about that.
  2. I think that the lightning doesn't count because it doesn't appear to be investiture-based. Voidbinding, I'd guess, is investiture from Odium, while the inherent abilities of stormform appear to come from the power of the spren itself. And yes, I'm pretty sure that Eshonai is alive, because every Sanderson death has meaning (other than the peons, and nobody cares about them).

  4. So when you Snap (for allomancy), you break on the spiritual level and so are now invested?
  5. What is this spiritweb you speak of? Sorry, I'm woefully uneducated about the Cosmere.

ForeSeur! Looking for some Lerasium beads? Sorry, I already Atium. Why did Clubs get in trouble with his wife? He was Smoking in the house. Didn't like my jokes? I guess I really Ruined them.
  8. I think that the Diagram is of Cultivation, and here's my evidence: The Knights Radiant are of Honor An ideal of the KR is "Journey before Destination" Taravangian chases his destination before considering the cost, the opposite of this ideal This leaves us with that Taravangian is either following Cultivation or Odium Odium, despite his love of death, wouldn't give Taravangian secrets that could be used to stop a Desolation, given that Desolations reek of Odium involvement, at least to me, so I conclude that Taravangian's Diagram is Cultivation's way to fight Odium's Desolations
  9. Granted. But your armpits are now so odorous that you might not be able to find a production crew. I wish for a classy car that will never break down.
  10. I honestly have no idea! Other ideas I could see happening are dullform, because it was mentioned as the form that they get if they don't get a special form (in one of the excerpts of the song) or mateform, since both of the parents were most likely in mateform when the new parshendi was conceived.

  12. Weird. And I thought Sanderson's magic was complicated on the physics level!
  13. I have no idea what sDNA is, but the argument itself appears sound.
  14. Part of it is that I'm very active in my church and so have over 5 hours of church meetings on Sunday. What remaining time I had was mostly spent in PMs, since everyone and their dog seems to have suddenly taken an interest in my role. But yes, I'm trying to be less aggressive in order to make the game more fun for the other participants. @STINK You were right about MR15 and being way too into this game. Business time. Since the Len-is-an-Elim club seems to be active (as usual), it's about time I put another vote on Emerald, for the "glorious cause" of saving my own skin.
  15. Ashkelon cleaned the blood off of the wooden spear. He hadn't wanted to stab Straw. It wasn't in the Plan. But when Straw had come to his door asking for donations to the poor (oh, the thought of them made Ashkelon's blood run cold!), Ashkelon had been enraged, a feeling which he was all too accustomed to. He could still hear the voice in his head: Tips? You expected me to give you a tip for the poor? For all I knew, you were a stinking thief! Tips and Thieves! Tips and Thieves! And so he had stuck a spear through his chest. And now, news that some assailant had killed Straw and saved Ashkelon the murder rap? He wished to meet the assassin and shake his/her hand. And if she turned out to be female, Ashkelon kept a wedding ring in his back pocket, just in case.
  16. LOTR is my fandom! (as I'm sure you can tell)
  17. Ecth has fallen to the lure of the ring cookies. The day may come when the resolve of Len will waver, but it is not this day!
  18. From my basic understanding of genetics, here's what I get. In real life, dark eyes are dominant to light eyes Any darkeyes who married lighteyes would have dark-eyed kids unless the darkeyes had a light-eyed parent somewhere in their ancestors The light-eyes gene could only have survived in large numbers because of artificial selection: lighteyes might only want to marry other lighteyes If we assume #3, then the population would have formed two different sub-societies of genes, one dark and one light That leads to the problem: the same mechanism of selection that would keep the light-eyed gene alive would impair the formation of intermediate phenotypes (in short, very few crossbreeds would be made between lighteyes and darkeyes because they hate one another) The way I see it, either the lighteyed gene would have died out or it would have to have existed in a reproductively-isolated part of the population (in our case, isolated by culture), and so in-between eyes would have been hard to come by. However, I'm sure there's some geneticist on the forums who would be a better source than I.
