  1. @Clanky, @Metacognition, @Shqueeves, @asterion137, @BrightnessRadiant, you haven't posted yet, and haven't announced you weren't going to be there for the first couple of days like droughtbringer (as far as I know). Also, no one has voted for the lynch yet. Are we going to skip that on day 1? I'm not sure if that's a good idea, but I don't really have any suspicions to act on either. The only thing that stuck out to me so far was Ecth's vote on brightness for medium at the start of the game when she hadn't even posted yet, but since it's ecth voting for brightness, I'm not seeing too much evil intent in that.
  2. ...I might have missed it in the rules, but what exactly is the win condition of the medium? I saw it mentioned in the other thread that the mediums need to secure peace, so if that's their goal, how exactly is that done, mechanics wise(might that have something to do with STINK's attempt to get a lot of people to take the test)?
  3. But that wouldn't be fun, now would it?
  4. Actually, the eliminators from the other thread are on the village team of this thread, so if they win, the village in this thread wins as well. Better not to assume they will win the game for the village, and instead focus on trying to win this thread.
  5. My main worry is that we accidentally pick an eliminator and end up having to deal with an eliminator guardian which, depending on how public that role is, could be a problem. If this role is announced by the GM's(or if it's clear when the guardian goes on a rampage through the villagers), I have no trouble with a STINK medium.
  6. Even if the forest decides to lynch everyone that takes the test the turn they hop over, it could still make a difference to help out a beleaguered elim team, as it buys them an extra cycle. However, it does cost this thread a villager to do so, which could put a village victory at this end at risk. I think this should be discussed more in a cycle or 3-4, when this can become a topic, as all we can do right now is speculate. I'd also like to suggest to the elim team in the forest that if you're getting lynched off and would like to have support, we can read the forest thread and act on such a request.
  7. Allright. I missed most of the pre-game discussion as I only got home yesterday evening.
  8. Maybe I'm misremembering, but I seem to remember one or two instances of you trying to cause at the very least a moderate amount of Chaos. Anyway, why should I vote for you as medium*? What is your agenda? Will you make the court great again? *Not looking for a roleclaim here, just curious if you can give another reason than the one you've already given. If you can't, that's fine.
  9. Okay, let's get this party started. I'm not going to do as large a breakdown of the roles as I usually do in the beginning, as I haven't had the usual couple of days to think about the various roles and stuff. I've got some quick observations about synergy though: Making Everything Boring: this one synergy with the Zeta and the Teleporter. If you know who the Zeta is, it might be a good idea to use your power to prevent his power from manifesting itself (though I'd be lying if I said I wouldn't find it interesting to see this nightmare world). You can work with the Teleporter to redirect actions to more specific targets. All in all, I recommend you try to find who have these roles (but don't ask in the thread, as I don't think either of these should role-claim). Etheric Scientist: You will probably want to get into contact with the alignment scanner. Now regarding the medium role, might it be a good idea to think about what we'd like our medium to accomplish in the other thread before picking someone? I have no doubt that STINK could create some interesting chaos in the wood thread, but if we want to accomplish something specific, another player might be a better choice. I do realize the medium defaults to neutral so that we shouldn't expect him/her to just dance to the village's tune, but the choice of player will likely have some impact anyway. As I said, I expect STINK to cause some chaos, while Brightness might encourage more of a dialogue (maybe). Also, do we have/want to choose a medium this cycle? I know we can revoke a medium's power, but I'd rather not pick an elim by accident (as that elim can then appoint an elim dragonslayer, which would be... problematic). Actually, @Aonar Faileas, will there be a distinction between the kills in the write-up, and will the guardian appointment be made public? Medium votes: STINK(3): STINK, crimsn, Orlok Brightness(1): Ecthelion
  10. Hey guys, I'm back from holiday. Also, I'll be Tarek. Do I need to put anything else forward to finish signing up? Edit: apologies to the DM's if they thought no one was going to sign up in the last 6 hours and had already started making role divisions.
  11. Yeah, as I said before, the issue above is one we probably should discuss at some length ( @OrlokTsubodai, @little wilson, you where among those promoting this discussion in the LG35 thread). I won't be able to participate as much in this discussion as I intended, as I'm leaving on holiday in less than 8 hours, and need to get some sleep before that. I tend to agree with Yitzi here, to some degree at least, that winning is not a secondary objective in SE. Having fun is of course the most important, but if winning wasn't something to be considered, it wouldn't be modeled after a competitive social game. At the same time, it shouldn't be winning at any cost either, but what constitutes crossing that line differs per person, and some kind of baseline of what is no longer acceptable in the pursuit of victory should definitely be thought about. To get to Yitzi's question, the two things I want to get out of SE are the battle of wits and the story. At the end of the day I don't care too much about whether I win or loose, as long as the battle to get to that point has been interesting. The story is both the RP story (which I've been participating in too little these last couple of games), and just the overall story of how the game went (last minute turn-arounds, surprising catches of elims, or villagers that seemed to be elims ending up being villagers after all at unfortunate moments). To get these two points, a certain amount of competitive spirit is needed. However, there should be a balance here, as another major part of SE is that at the end of the game, everyone still gets along with everyone else. We can congratulate someone on playing well without being angry at getting beaten or fooled, and I don't know of any case (in games that I've played) where someone acted against someone for no other reason than that he/she got beaten in a previous game. Previous encounters might make people more wary, but this is in the way of respect ('I know that he is very good at acting village when he is an elim, so I should be more careful with my reads on him'), not anger or spite, and this atmosphere of mutual respect (and friendship) is something that should definitely be preserved.
  12. Right, yes. The complete answer is that anyone can apply a soul-stamp, but the stamp itself needs to be crafted specifically for the person it's going to be applied to.
  13. Hey, it's over before I'm leaving on holiday. That leaves me in a position to personally say that Aman told you all so (and not just about my alignment) . link to dead-doc: https://docs.google.com/document/d/11TJ8xxcnFNBYcoZaYJxIS2yv_p82sgJnkkq8ZjIJSrk/edit Edit: also, @_Stick_, very well played!
  14. Since I doubt that the emperor himself is a forger, anyone would be able to use them.
  15. @Roadwalker, a way to prevent the knacks from breaking while keeping choice is to only have the players describe the fluff of the knack, and not the mechanics. For example, I say I have a knack that lets me hear gossip about me (which would be some sort of PM spy ability), and then you can decide exactly how much this ability can do (for example, I get to see any paragraph from a PM that contains my name, but I don't know who send the PM or who received it). I'd also limit it to one custom knack per person.
  16. I'm updating some of my current reads, and encountered something that is potentially of interest. @asterion137, you mentioned during D2 that you had a post with lots of reads that accidentally got deleted. Was the read on Yitzi as you later presented it also already part of that deleted post, or did you add that one later?
  17. Thanks, i'd overlooked that. I'd be going on holiday the 20th, and this game will probably last longer than 4 cycles, so unfortunately I won't be able to participate.
  18. Storm it, if I wasn't so likely to go on holiday before this game is over, I'd steal this as a character concept. Actually, @Seonid, how long do cycles take?
  19. Hate to kick more suspicion my way, but I think I suggested Straw as alternate lynch target first. Flash stated agreement with me, and Stick threw the first vote. Edit: No wait, stick did mention a possible Straw lynch before me: However, Straw was a possible lynch target, especially since he had been the ringleader's intended target, so I'm not sure if the elims would have had to interfere to set it off. Also, since STINK has claimed to not have been acting on the request of the elims, they might not actually have had much of a preference about whether Straw or STINK died.
  20. So, am I the only one who has read Wilson's analysis of me? I'd kinda expected to get lynched here, and am, in a way, a bit disappointed that I haven't been. The only real hole in her theory I've seen uptil now is that I haven't exactly been capitalizing on the suspicion I was supposedly creating, and that I still don't see why Elim!Rand would have avoided bussing Yitzi when it was clear he was going down anyway. I'll take another pass through her comments to see if I can find any other holes, but it looked fairly well put together the first time I looked through it (note: well put together doesn't mean that it's true, as it isn't. it just makes it harder to defend against). Edit: That statement needs explanation. I wouldn't have minded getting lynched last cycle because it seemed to be a pretty lost cycle anyway. The Straw lynch would give some information, though by that point I had started to consider that he could very well be village, which would mean less information was gained, and with the likes of little Wilson breathing down my neck, I'm probably going to get lynched at one point anyway, so last cycle would have been a point where that would have done minimal damage.
  21. @little wilson, If I knew that Yitzi was an elim, why wouldn't I jump on the vote on him? Worst case, I get included in the group of 'potential bussers'. Instead I went with what my analysis was telling me instead of following the majority, which was exactly what I announced I was going to do, and what I've been trying to do all this time. As you said, Yitzi had a big enough lead that it didn't really matter either way. That would have still leave about 12 hours for things to change in, and the game wasn't yet moving at the increased pace, so I don't see why I would assume that all possible arguments would be made within the next 5 hours. Not sure if that was a little persuasion that Aman seemed to be applying, but your mileage may vary. For the rest, I might be able to make a good case against the rest of your accusations if I'm completely awake, but I'm not going to try right now as you do make some good points. I know you're wrong, but I'm not going to try to defend myself when I'm half-asleep, as that will not end well. If people do want to lynch me for this, please make sure that there is an unambiguous lead one me by tomorrow so I can take actions to maximize the amount of information that is gained from this cycle. BR knows what I'm talking about. Edit: Another thing, if my goal had been to cast suspicious at the people involved, why would I then go ahead and try to clear them? BR and Seonid where scrapped from that list because they had earlier votes on Yitzi, and I went through crimsn's and Stick's posts and ended up having tentative village reads. Lopen concluded that Stick was probably evil, irrc, and Aman wasn't sure, so it's not like it would have been impossible for elim!me to spin an analysis of stick as evil.
  22. Okay, let's pick the quote apart sentence by sentence then. Asterion, this is going to be some Major level nit-picking. I don't expect you to respond to anything that I don't directly ask you about (though feel free to do so anyway if you want). First, village!Asterion might not actually have worded that as siding with the Neutrals, as obviously he would be taking the side of the village with all his actions. This could just be a figure of speech about him being perceived as siding with the neutrals, which is more or less what he was being accused of, so it's not that odd for him to word it that way. He also assumes that whatever help to the Neutrals their deal with the elims includes, it has already been given. This is a logical assumption, as it is easy to figure out how the attack would help Orlok(thief's child joins the triangle), while it makes less sense for it to have been some sort of payment byt the neutrals to the elims. This sentence becomes stranger the longer I look at it, but not in a way that is directly Alignment indicative. Him being lynched D3 is somehow directly related to my alignment? This might actually make sense if the elims had at the time decided they wanted to kill me N2, and so he thought this would be getting him in trouble anyway, but this is again a bit of a stretch. Hmmmm, the longer I think about it, the more it seems like he was somehow expecting a definitive proof of my alignment to roll around before the start of D3, and that that would get him in trouble. Or that voting on Yitzi wouldn't get him out of trouble, meaning that he either expected that lynch to go nowhere, or that he wasn't expecting yitizi to be an elim. Basically explains why he decides to vote Yitzi now. Nothing odd about this as far as I can see.
  23. Sorry, I should have been more clear with that question. I meant it more like: do you have any opinions on who you think we should lynch right now. Right now you haven't given too much (though since you've been super active the previous cycles, maybe I shouldn't be poking you to be more active). I hate it when you say this, it makes me feel like I'm missing something hugely obvious . Well, give me a minute to figure it out.
  24. That's why I'd like to know. If it was, I'd be less conflicted about having village reads on both you and crimsn right now. And just because I didn't ask you a question doesn't mean you don't have to go and give the thread some insight in your opinions. Feel free to give some reads on people anyway. @Straw, was it just STINK, or are there others you are suspicious of as well?
