  1. So If we're fixing things through the normal vote process, what kind of rules would we have to submit to make that happen? If we want to move to being a more regular elimination game, I think lynches and faction attacks should be instant kills (so no surviving with 2 lives). Also, either the brotherhood's conversion ability needs to be capped, or we need 1-2 more factions to turn it into a full faction game. There's a couple of other things as well, but these seem like relatively immediate concerns. Doe anyone have anything else to add?

  3. Regarding Len's death, it could also have been multiple sources of attacks, rather than one sweeping attack. Anyway, I don't think your win-con was all that achievable to begin with, Drake, as I checked with Sheep, and any rules in the future that are designed to make someone win on the spot will not be allowed.
  4. Sorry for the double-post, but this includes a quick non-boringness vote on myself, Kel. --- ‘Historians would call it ‘the Great Rabbit War’. It started with an innocent idea. Fluffy cute creatures that bred rapidly and could eat just about anything. The problems started when people realised that these rabbits ate literally anything, and far more than their small size would suggest. Those of a mathematical bend quickly calculated that the rabbit population would cause famine and in short order suggested getting rid of them by the most expedient route possible.’ Kel stopped narrating and looked over to his audience. The fluffy creature seemed more interested in munching down on a big stack of pancakes, however. “You know, this is a story about the very fate of your people. The least you could do is pay some attention.” Kel’s admonishing tone made the creature look up for a second, but then it returned to its meal. Kel let out a sigh. “Anyway, where was I? Oh, right.” ‘Despite the clear reasons for wanting to get rid of the rabbits, there were those who wanted to protect them. Charmed by their fluffy cuteness they declared they would violently oppose any who would try to take their rabbits away. And so the two sides made their alliances, prepared their arms and drew their lines in the sand. Armies where trained, stratagems prepared and brutal battle's where fought. All the while, the agents of chaos schemed to push the war to ever more brutal heights, while the WorldSmiths plied their dark trade to try and preserve what they could. The Brotherhood was powerless to…’ “Hey people, I’ve found a way to make the rabbits eat less, while retaining all their fluffy cute-ness. If you could just give me a hand, we’ll have all this sorted out before dawn tomorrow”. The voice came from the square below where a number of people where arguing about rabbits. He could hear some general murmurs of agreement drifting upwards. “Wait.. what? No!” Kel jumped up in shock and anger and shouted down to the square below. “This is not how it’s meant to go! There is no story in this! You’re not supposed to solve this like wise, well-tempered deities!” In frustration Kel chucked his manuscript from the roof and stalked off. Kel came back to the roof about a minute later to pick up his rabbit, whom he'd almost forgotten there.
  5. I suspected my point about secret-keepering it was quite unnecessary, but I wanted to make it just in case. I don't think you or Len are trying to set up a dictatorship here, but it might have felt tempting to use such a power to put in a major fix if you believed it necessary.
  6. It sounds reasonable to me, but I'd suggest it as a rule for tonight, even if you have a way to bypass the normal process. Forcing it with secretkeeper is just going to leave people very unhappy (unless you get a majority of people saying 'let's do this' before turnover).
  7. Alright, @Arinian, if this is what actually happened I'd just like to point that this is not a cool move. Anyway, I'm now going to be a hypocrite, given what I've just put up, and ask everyone in the thread to take a deep breath and relax, as there's a lot of indignation going about over what are, in the end, trivial matters.
  8. Just out of curiosity, how do you think a simple moot would be abuseable? Or is that something you'd rather not share, in case we do decide to hold a moot like that and you'd prefer not to give anyone ideas.
  9. Yeah, I really don't think Drake's and Elenion's action here can in any way be described as a dictatorship in wording. The only way it would be was if they found a way to fore suggestion #2 to be picked. I find it also hard to blame them for their dastardly plan to win the game in other situations, since they seem to be explicitly out to prevent it from happening. (and FYI, despite my best attempts to change this, I'm still faction-less, and not part of Drake and Elenion's group). What would the opinion be on a slightly modified version of the silver bullet, without rule #2 to remove any risk of a dictatorship? 1. Complete game wipe. Elim team randomly created, and the game becomes a true vanilla game. 2. Complete game wipe. The rules of this game are set to those of a random, previously-run LG. 3. Complete game wipe. Each player submits one rule, and the game begins again from C1 with no new rules being introduced. 4. The game unfreezes and resumes as before. 5. The game is over. All players win. 6. All players vote on whether to keep or remove each individual rule in this game, then the game restarts with the new rules. Even if you don't have time to discuss the thing in full, I'd like to hear a yes or no.
  10. I think that win can be pulled off if more breeding pairs equals more bunnies produced, but it'll be a really close call for the person trying it. Anyway, this will only affect those getting the platipy and will reduce the load on everyone else if it goes into effect. That having been said, I'm not a particularly big fan of the bunny rule for the above reasons; it just really cramps everyone's action economy.
  11. If it wasn't you, would you be willing to share who you think it was? Actually, never mind, I'm just going to take your word for it (Arinian, arinian, arinian), as I doubt you'd betray someone in the same faction. Overall though, I'd really like to not see rules along the lines of 'this player wins' again. Maybe I'm alone in this, but that just seems like really bad form to me.
  12. yeah, Arinian, arinian, arinian. More thoughts up in a second. Edit: So yeah, if Arinian wants the game to end for him, I'm quite willing to oblige him. I'm not going to do that by voting rule #3 though. Regarding the rules; #6 would work as a kind of activity filter. I'll make a tally at some alter point to see if we actually need one like that though. Rule #1 is a good excemption for married people, so it would be reasonable to vote that one in. #4 is a useful one for actually starting to make people do stuff, so I'm in favour of that one. It means that the village wants to identify the factions and lynch them, while the factions want to prevent that. There are slightly more non-village faction members than usual, but since the win-condition of the Brotherhood and worldsmiths is in-compatible, this probably won't be an issue. #5 would be interesting if we had more families, and more actions occuring. As it is, it's not really a priority rule. #7 would add some more interactivity to the bunnies, though, it would pay to know whether having more than one breeding pair of bunnies speeds up bunnie production rate. #2 Is... interesting. It seems to be made to encourage the members of that faction to think well about the rules they put in, as they can't push any of their own rules trough. Their emnity with respect to the agents of chaos makes sense from a fluff perspective, I suppose.
  13. Have you listened to the episodes of writing excuses in which they talk about the process of getting published? A lot of that would be relevant, especially because if you're writing in English, you'll probably want to submit your work to a British or American publisher (or Australian or New Zealand...ish? if that's closer by). The thing you mention about language is quite interesting from my perspective. I've basically stopped reading fantasy in my native language (apart from those actually written in my language) because I think many English words have a far better 'ring' or 'kick' to it than the equivalent dutch words where the fantasy and science fiction genres are considered, which just makes an English story a better and easier read.
  14. Given the current state of the game, the bunnies will have eaten all items by the end of next cycle, unless pancakes also count. In other words, the bunnies rule is just a more fluffy version of 'remove every item from the game'. The wordsmiths will be making more items, but since they make them at a rate of 1 per cycle, and the bunnies eat items at a rate of 1 per cycle...
  15. Yeah, rule #2 is kinda... cheesy. Rule #5 sounds like a somewhat interesting mechanic, but as stated, it makes things a lot easier for the brotherhood, and I don't think they need that. Proposed rule #1 will help with dealing with rules like #2 in the future, so it would be a nice one to put in. Rule #3 Is a useful one as it actually gives the game an end-condition. Finally, rule #4 adds a simple serial-killer role. It gives us something else to do with the lynch if the Worldsmith's continue to not act like an eliminator faction. Edit: So if it was up to me, I'd pick rules #1, #3 and #4. Also, maybe for tomorrow's set of additional rules, another faction to cut down on the number of factionless remaining might be an interesting proposal.
  16. Yeah, the only problem is that they don't take your items, they kill you and turn you into an item. I'm quite surprised they haven't targeted anyone yet. Edit: If Jon's something, it's agent of chaos. a worldbringer doesn't really get much out of starting a lynch, I think.
  17. Either that, or he's going after his Vendetta. I'd honestly wait out another cycle of adding rules before starting to do serious lynches, as I reckon we'll have some actual reasons to lynch starting next cycle, rather than just 'I need to be the last man standing'.
  18. I'd word a rule regarding win-conditions and game ending something along the lines of 'The game ends when someone obtains their primary win-condition'. remember that for the factionless the primary win condition is being the last man/woman/non-binary/sentient object standing(with Vendetta being secondary to that). I've already submitted a different rule that will hopefully see us begin employing the lynch for its usual purpose, so if someone is without ideas for rules, you could submit the above one.
  19. “…As the Codex said 'Peace precedes conflict precedes peace'. Our current state of turmoil is only a temporary disruption in universal tranuility! And so, my brothers and sisters, I call for an end to the senseless conflict. I call for a farewell to arms and the need for armor, and I call for unification among the divines! ” Kel gave a short applause as the Brother of peace finally stopped declaiming his faith in the square below. It had been a decent speech, given how new their faith was. Still, the poor preacher could have done with more listeners. Or any listeners at all for that matter. The square below was empty of people. Kel reckoned he was the only one around to hear the speech, and he doubted the Brother had been aware of his presence before he made himself known. “Well, good man” Kel started then took another look at the figure in the square below. It was a bit hard to see from this distance, but the figure in the robes could be a woman as well. “Or woman.” He hastily corrected himself. “That was a fine speech, a fine speech indeed. But don’t you think you could have used a slightly larger audience?” Before the Brother or Sister of peace could answer that question, he continued on. “Let this old story-teller give you a piece of advice; People are a lot more likely to listen to what you have to say if they can actually hear you, so go out there and spread your message among the masses, rather than sitting here on the porch of your Ivory temple.” Kel turned around before the person below could respond and headed for the other edge of the roof. He’d rather not have to deal with a conversion attempt. Sure, he’d basically written the entirety of the codex of peace and left it for some inspired visionary to find, but that didn’t mean he actually wanted to join their ranks. There were far more stories to be gained from conflict than from peace, after all. --- Anyway, I'm not particularly boring today either, despite the fact that I haven't posted too much, so kel.
  20. @AliasSheep, how exactly will the rule suggested above be implemented? Could a faction with a kill put on and then cancel kills on everyone to do a mass-conversion?
  21. @Orlok Tsubodai, I do also share your concern about the family rule. I do think we need a rule like that, but preferably one without any ambiguous wording. I've made a quick informal vote tally for the various rules based on people's statements. Don't take this thing as anything other than a rough estimate. Do remember that you need to submit your vote via PM to the GM for it to count. I've placed my own vote on RP for pancakes, as it looks like at least one of the faction rules will pull through, and rule #2 is another fairly high priority rule in my opinion, as it both encourages RP and helps with the action economy. Tally Rule #2(RP for pancakes)(3): Sami, Darkness, Randuir Rule #4(brotherhood of peace)(6): Lemon, Jondesu, Roadwalker, HH, King Cole, Winter rule #5(Dragon faction)(1): Drake
