  1. You wouldn't happen to be the same Herowannabe from the Fantasy Flight Games forums, would you?

    1. Herowannabe

      Herowannabe

      I am indeed. :)

Pretty much any "herowannabe" on the internet you stumble across is going to be me. Except for twitter. Apparently there is some kid in hong kong who got the username before I signed up on twitter. <_<

  2. I'm in exactly the same boat as Jondesu. Don't know who leaked my alignment but I'd like to wait until the cycle plays out more before doing anything.
  3. So, kind of like this game: http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/52712-long-game-17-heronfall/
  4. Everyone who has their vote on Drought, can I interpret as not supporting Bondsmith win, and everyone who has their vote on Sart, can I interpret as supporting Bondsmith win?
  5. I'll be the Elderly gentleman always sitting on the porch. No one actually knows his name.
  6. I would recommend against a Bondsmith win. First of all, we don't know if the Bondsmith is still alive now, let alone will be in a few cycles. Second of all, going for that win condition would require bringing both sides, SoH and GB, down to the same number of members as the Diagrammists. When Drought gets lynched (because I don't see anything else happening at this point), that will be 3 people for every side. Not only is it incredibly easy for one rogue cook to upset the balance, but with, say, 3 or 4 people dying per night, the job of the Diagrammists would be made so much easier. They want us to whittle our own numbers down, and that seems like a bad idea in my book.
  7. The words of the orphan girl bounced around in Davis’ head. Was he really a coward? Was he afraid to stand up for what he truly believed? No, but they didn’t know his secret… Or was it because of his secret that he was who he was? Could it be that… Then it all happened at once. Arinian burst into the marketplace, shouting to all the world that he had discovered the identity of not one, but four followers of the man called Taravangian. The others immediately started shouting at him, some even calling for his death. Then all was silenced when a woman stood up and her voice boomed throughout the stalls. “We are the Diagrammists. And it’s time to change the game around completely.” And all heck broke loose. So, out of character, let’s take a look at everything. Proposed Diagrammists: A Joe in the Bush, Doctor12, DroughtBringer, Harambe Confessed Diagrammists: A Joe in the Bush, DroughtBringer, Harambe (?) The first thing of note which happened was Arinian’s declaration. Kynedath, who probably did not read the rules concerning Radiants so is probably not one, was confused by the declaration. Sart, on the other hand, wanted to kill Arinian to verify the claim. This shows that Sart is almost 100% a Son of Honor, as no Ghostblood would have advocated killing their own Radiant. After Arinian, Kynedath, and Sart discussed the rules, Joe happened. Joe openly confesses to being a Diagrammist and immediately proposes an alliance with the Sons of Honor. Now, my original thoughts were: the only reason he would do this would be if Arinian’s information were mostly fake and he clearly (and heavyhandedly) wanted everyone to believe the information was correct. A few posts later, he says he’s in full support of Bondsmith victory. Kynedath expresses a proper dose of skepticism but thinks that Joe is also likely to be telling the truth. He closes by saying, “I don't know what to do, but I would suggest not getting reeled in by the eliminator team.” He supports this a few posts later by voting on Joe and restating that it’s better to kill the eliminators than be fooled by them. I trust him. Later shifts his vote to Drought, following Arinian. Silverblade comes on to say that he got the C2 Chain of Command PM from Joe, who personally confesses to be a Ghostblood and provides a second witness for Arinian’s list. Then, for some reason, Silverblade says she now supports Bondsmith since there are hard eliminator numbers. (?) Sart. Well, this one is interesting. He claims to be a Ghostblood, which is quite unlikely (see above), and then proceeds to vote on Joe in case they’re doing a “crazy gambit” This is really interesting, because of all the revealed “suspects”, he chooses Joe to vote on, a fellow Ghostblood. If it really turned out to be a “crazy gambit”, why would he want a member of his own faction to take the fall testing that? Note that I’m not trying to get us to lynch Sart, because that’s the “Diagrammist” plan, but I’m just saying I believe he is not who he seems. Harambe gives a disjointed and uncapitalized post where I think he confessed to being a Diagrammist…? Full text: “well... that was unexpected.....rust and ruin ....joe .....i mean.....realy?....baaah , it's fine, it's fine, no biggie ....it is still winnable.... ummm sart i guess” Joe backs up this Sart vote. Later on, he emphasizes that he is actually going for the Bondsmith win and says that going after Ghostblood and Son of Honor cooks should be the priority. Arinian: I won’t say much about him because the whole thing has been discussed more above. He did vote on Drought because he is the surgeon and Joe is roleless, at least according to his dancing. Now back to Sart. He follows Arinian and changes his vote from Joe to Drought, then tells the Sons of Honor that it’s a bad idea to ally with the Diagrammists and declares, like Kynedath, “Regardless of what happens, the Diagrammists must die.” Drought pops in to add this wisdom: “Wow...this shall be interesting.” Magestar puts a vote on Joe: “The Diagrammists need to die.” Arinian tells him to switch his vote to Drought as he is the surgeon, which Mage does. Then Drought posts something more substantial, wanting the two factions to contemplate what will happen at the end of the game when the Diagrammists are all killed. (This is also his confession.) A classic outed eliminator tactic, but legitimate nonetheless. Remember Silverblade, who wanted to suppport the Bondsmith win? She just comes in and adds a vote to the Drought bandwagon with no reasoning. C’mon.
  8. @Amanuensis "Over the course of my long life, I have learned to not put all my cards on the table at once. I've found that those who are too helpful, or get too close to the truth..." Davis ran a finger across his neck.
  9. @Amanuensis "Thoughts on the crowd? Do you mean to say you want me to analyze everyone, at this point in the game? Your mind must be addled. Here, have some coffee. It'll get your head feeling clearer in no time." Davis drained his cup, and as he did, a piece of metal clinked against his teeth. He reached in and pulled it out. "Hey, was anyone looking for this? I almost swallowed it! That would have been really bad..."
  10. @Amanuensis Aaaand here we return to the immortal discussion as to whether or not D1 lynches are a good idea. Let's discuss the issue in depth over coffee, shall we? - My standpoint is this: on the one hand, without lynching people, we don't come any closer to rooting out the Diagrammists. (Now, in this game, we do have the Cook kills, but they are randomly sent out by individuals who have even less evidence to work with than the village combined, even on D1.) On the other hand, we indeed do not have very much evidence to work with, The thing is, the main way the village gathers evidence when scan roles are not involved is: 1) By analyzing who votes on whom, and 2) By analyzing everyone's standpoint in the discussion. If clues are not gathered this way on D1, then D2 becomes just another D1. In short, I believe that all problems with a D1 lynch are not because it is D1, but because it is the first day we do a lynch. The other thing that scares me about not having a D1 lynch is someone can hop on at the end and lynch someone with only one vote. This kind of goes back to what I said earlier about Cook kills: it's better to have a kill when the entire village discusses the best target than just one person choosing what they believe to be the best target. It's like the SE equivalent of the problem with dictatorships. - So, that being said, I should probably pick someone to vote on, haha. Like Kipper (I think) said, pokevotes are rather unproductive. I feel like we should lynch someone who early-on supported the Bondsmith win, since that's something a Diagrammist is likely to do. Silverblade supported the Bondsmith win and advocated for a quick decision about what win condition we should shoot for. Seems a little sus to me.
  11. I'm a private and I received a PM from my captain saying he did not receive a PM from his commander, so the commander is probably talking to another captain. This leads me to believe that if my captain is to be trusted, there is more than one captain under a commander. I'm also partial to hot chocolate, but I figure I can get people to talk more when they're on caffeine. Edit: 666 posts
  12. Especially because if the Bondsmith dies, which is not unlikely given that this is SE, all careful preparation would be ruined. Edit: @little wilson Link to the player list?
  13. I'm feeling in an RP mood, so sure, @Conquestor. I do need a character, though... How about Davis, a benevolent and honest but mysterious old man, who no one knows the last name of. He is so honest, he would even return someone's lost lerasium to them if he found it. Probably.
  14. What is the name of the font used for the title?
  15. I'm back, so I'll join this one. Last time I tried to RP, I got lynched D1 for literally no sensible reason, so I'll just be playing myself for the most part.
  16. No Nightblood anytime soon - Edit: I wasn't even waiting for the post, I just logged on at the EXACT same time it popped up
  17. Happy Birthday, Brandon!
  18. I thought I was the only one who noticed Vader walking weird. Guess not Other than that, he was quite well done and definitely much more terrifying than his previous incarnations: always accompanied by flame and red imagery, harms people without any thought, etc. I also had the same issue about not knowing everyone's names. I remembered Jin/Jyn/Djinn/Ginn/etc, Andor, and Guerrera, but not The Imperial Pilot Guy, The Blind Dude, The Machine Gun Guy, The Imperial In The White Cloak, and I don't remember if there was anyone else. That 3P0 and R2 scene seemed really out of place and would have been better to have been left out. To be honest, so would that part near the beginning where Andor kills the guy with the bad arm (I think); the beginning was convoluted enough as it was. The character arcs made sense (at least to me) in the context of trust. I liked how everyone died at the end, and I think that the separate and meaningful deaths were much better than everyone just dying to the Death Star at once. I'm also super glad that they didn't kiss at the end. The score was fantastic. Not Williams, but it did a fantastic job of setting the tone. CG Tarkin was obviously CG, but I didn't mind it too much. Overall, it was great but not amazing.
