Marea shrugged. “He made the two First Mothers and the two First Fathers. Then he raised them. And when they were adults and wanted their own children he taught them to make Blessings. There are a little over a hundred of us now.”

“This map,”Kelsier said, motioning to the map.

“Because he is,” Marea answered. “Well, there’s a few greats there, but we usually skip those. The First Parents call him Father, of course.”

Marea settled herself down in the small compartment, considering her options. What face would she wear in Elendel...

He nodded. “I know,” he said softly. “I’m not asking you to. This is a gift, Marie. Just take care of the plants, alright?” He smiled ruefully. “I’ve done my best, but it turn out gardening really isn’t one of my talents.“

Marea nodded. “Head to the station then?”

Marea nodded. “Elendel then. Next train leaves in,” she checked the schedule in her pocket. “One hour. Want to head straight there, or is there something you need done before?”

“And I’m Marea. But I told you that already. Where are we heading?”

Marea rolled her eyes. “Lord Kelsier, of course. You’re the one I was sent to meet.”

Marea smiled and headed over. “Hello,” she said cheerfully. “I’m Marea. Grandfather sent me to meet you. Do you know what your task is yet? Are you ready to leave?”

Marea held up the dark brown, braided wig. “You’ll have to sit still while I pin it. It may be a bit uncomfortable, but try not to fidget with it too much.”

Marea began prepping the wig, waiting for Rylla to return.

Marea laughed. “But more noticeable. And we want to avoid being noticed. ”Go change now. I’ll pin the wig after. Be careful not to smudge the make up.”

Marea shook her head. “They use Mistcoats. Dusters with the bottom cut into strips. I’ve only seen two people use Mistcloaks. Grandfather takes his out for the drama sometimes, and Uncle Spook uses his on occasion. Even they don’t use them much though.”

Kelsier smiled, pulling out a map. Unlike most maps, which showed only the basin and some surrounding areas, this one showed the entire globe. “There are islands,” Kelsier explained, pointing, “far out in the ocean. They’re volcanic, and some are pretty active. It’s one of the only places on Scadrial that feels like home. ”And it’s the only place where anteverdant plants still grow.”
