Happy birthday, @Darkness Ascendant! -
Finished Marked in Flesh, the most recent of Anne Bishop's Others series. Now to wait for book 5... I've also started my loooooong-delayed re-read of the entire Skulduggery Pleasant series so that I can finally read book 9 without thinking, "Wait, who's this slontze again??" every chapter because I've forgotten everything that came before. Recently picked up the V for Vendetta graphic novel from the library and will be working on that intermittently between Skulduggery Pleasant and The Row, which I still need to finish and review.

Sort of. We had a few class periods between the time we finished learning the material and the time we actually took the test, but the first time, our professor wasn't very clear about exactly what would be on the test. Although the TA held a review session, it matched up very poorly with the actual test questions. So we took the test the first time on a Monday, and during the next class period, on Wednesday, we got them back graded and were told about the do-over opportunity. The TA said it would be literally the exact same test and that we'd be taking it the following class period, on Friday, so I looked up all the right answers and committed them to memory. I didn't score 100% on the do-over, though, because apparently the professor's correct answers didn't always line up with what Wikipedia told me. (I think he used a lot of older/outdated names for the taxonomic classifications.) -
Someone in one of my classes suggested that the whole creepy clown phenomenon might be a covert publicity stunt for the movie remake of Stephen King's It that is apparently happening soon... I'm more comfortable with that idea than the idea that clown costumes are the new mass shooter uniform.

@Darkness Ascendant WHY WOULD YOU POST SUCH A TERRIFYING PICTURE??

So last week I took a test about wildlife and the animal kingdom in general and didn't do so well on it... 75/100. But our professor gave us the chance to retake it (since apparently several people in our class scored in the 50s) and our final grade would be the average of the two scores, and I got my 2nd attempt back today. 96/100, which brings my average for the exam to 85.5, which I am much happier with than the 75. -

Sorry to hear about y'all's academic difficulties, @Oversleep and @PantsForSquares. School has been the cause of some awful stress in my life too... I'm sure it probably has been for everyone who's ever gone to high school or college. -
Don't do something super dangerous and stupid! (If you know it's super dangerous and stupid, why are you even considering it?) You getting hurt is not something I (or, I'm sure, any of us here on the Shard) want to happen.

Best of luck, @TwiLyghtSansSparkles. The reasoning you laid out in your above post makes good sense, and I hope things pan out like you are planning and hoping. *hugs* -
Those are fantastic, @Sand Master! I especially love "Good Guy Lightsong." XD

Currently rereading my ARC of The Row by JR Johansson so I can write a review before the official release date, Oct 11.

Oh ok. I went to a book signing once in a town in Ohio called either Maryville or Marysville. -

@bleeder Congrats on getting picked for that choir event! The name Maryville seems familiar... Is it in Ohio, by any chance? -

You know you're a Sanderfan when you're listening to the BBC News and they mention Russia, and you mishear it as "Roshar" at first. -
I've been obsessed with this epic electric guitar cover of Beethoven's "Moonlight Sonata" (third movement) today:

Hehehe. I have fond memories of turkey legs from Disney World. I went on a trip to Disney with my high school marching band and ended up wandering around the park with several boys, and when we got hungry for dinner we each bought ourselves a turkey leg. The boys finished with theirs pretty quickly and dumped the remains in the trash, but I kept gnawing on mine for a while. When I was finally satisfied that I was done with it, the boys looked at the turkey leg (what was left of it) and were astonished at how much of the meat I'd managed to clean off. XD I guess I learned from my dad, who loves to grill and doesn't let the meat go to waste. -
I recently discovered Jennifer Armentrout's Dark Elements trilogy and have read books 1 and 2, plus a related novella, and thoroughly enjoyed them. The plot twists keep surprising me.

I agree; book 3 was also fantastic! I'll probably post my review of that one at some point as well. Maybe when the release of book 4 is closer.

I like Zathoth's idea. Using the Bruce excuse balances honesty with not having to spend the holidays with TwiParents as well as avoiding confrontation with them about not visiting. -
I'm just the opposite--I generally like chocolate with nuts except for brownies.
