  1. I acquired 13 mosquito bites last night... and I'm not even certain that I've found all of them yet. But on the plus side, I enjoyed roasting hot dogs and marshmallows, making smores, and seeing an American Kestrel going to her nest box repeatedly.
  2. @Extesian a reference to The Scarlet Letter?
  3. I almost died laughing at this one:
  4. My vote is Darkness Ascendant
  5. @Idealistic Mistborn That all-or-nothing method of grading sounds supremely unhelpful to me. There's a whole spectrum of "wrong" even in math. If it's a problem with several steps, I'd say you're much more right if you only messed up the final step than if you followed completely the wrong process, even if the final answer was wrong either way. Just being marked wrong doesn't aid learning at all.
  6. When people insist on trying to tell you a long set of directions to somewhere when it would be ten times easier to just use Google Maps if they would give you the storming street address!
  7. @Darkness Ascendant Love your photos! I wish I could upvote them all individually.
  8. @StrikerEZ oh dear. What have I done? XD
  9. I have birb pictures from Saturday =D Red-winged Blackbird: Bullock's Oriole: Killdeer: White Pelican:
  10. @Slowswift The featured author was Eric James Stone. Brandon wasn't the only author in attendance, not by a long shot. Julie Frost was there (although I didn't know her then), as were several others that I recognized by sight, if not by name, from SLCC or LTUE.
  11. @Silverblade5 You wouldn't happen to be talking about a flux capacitor, by any chance, would you?
  12. @Slowswift I met Brandon at someone else's book signing once at the Orem Barnes and Noble.
  13. I have one! Last time I flew from the Salt Lake City airport, I stopped in at Simply Books, a bookstore that Brandon frequently visits to sign their books when he flies (and then he announces it on Twitter/Facebook). I asked the bookseller if any authors had been in recently, and he responded, "You mean like Brandon Sanderson? He was in here a few minutes ago." And I was like, Wait, are you serious? Turns out I'd barely missed Brandon, but I bought a signed paperback of Bands of Mourning.
  14. Even though y'all have decided on a name already, I just have to throw this suggestion out there: The WoB-rary. Or The Sanderson Archives (NOT A LIBRARY!)
  15. Just wanted to share this photo of a super cool skink I saw in Ohio last Monday: I have more pictures, mostly from Saturday, but I gotta go to bed for now.
  16. Maybe this will bring a bit of cheer to someone who needs it...
  17. I'm so sorry, Jon. I hope you know I'm thinking about you every day, hoping and praying that you and your doctors find a way to get you feeling better. *hugs*
  18. Hate to rain on your parade, but there is already a thread for this, "Songs for the Cosmere." Here's the link: http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/477-songs-for-the-cosmere/
  19. @Kaymyth Storms, yes! Every time the Facebook app gets an "update" its functionality decreases!
  20. @Queen Elsa Steelheart I'm so sorry that happened to you! I have asthma, but it's mild, so I think I understand a little bit what that felt like to be unable to breathe. *hugs*
  21. Have you read the previous parts of this fanfic that Twi has posted? I think they're all in this thread somewhere.
  22. I have some more photos from my birding trip to northern Ohio. Didn't want to put them in the first post because it was already image-heavy enough. XD Red-breasted Nuthatch: House Wren: American Woodcock, one of the weirdest and coolest birds I've ever had the pleasure to see: Green Heron: Raccoon: Gray Catbird: Red Admiral butterfly: White-throated Sparrow:
  23. @TwiLyghtSansSparkles
  24. Happy birthday, Del!! By command of Captain Picard, you are required to have fun!
