  1. We know that a suit of Shardplate will mold to it's wearer over time, evidenced by Eshonai's plate fitting over her Warform carapace. (I believe it is stated as well, but I need a quote on that) So the all-important question is, would it be possible to mold a suit of plate to fit over another suit of plate, thereby gaining twice the benefits and becoming NIGH-UNSTOPPABLE?
  2. I think that is essentially how it works. However, the problems with having four or more powers in one medallion is probably not caused by needing too many spikes. Just because you can be controlled by harmony doesn't mean you are controlled. Anyways, note that people can't use more than one medallion at the same time. In the airship, the southern scadrian (name escapes me atm) had to switch between the weight/heat and weight/connection medallions. Something about this method interferes with using more than 2 powers (+ Nicrosil).
  3. I personally have a theory that an excess of identity would, for at least one, very specific use, prevent your physical body from being soulcast. Soulcasting requires that you convince an object to change it's cognitive identity, (i.e., the great and mighty stick) so tapping identity should theoretically prevent someone like Jasnah from turning you into fire.
  4. I was considering this, and I realized that Hoid apparently has access to feruchemy. So I wonder if it's possible that feruchemy is actually Yolish in origin, but it is powered and activated in people by the interaction of Preservation and Ruin. But the other explanation for Hoid's feruchemy could be... (BoM spoilers)
  5. I would like to mention Bloodsealing as well. It is an offshoot of Forgery found on Sel and in the novella "The Emperor's Soul." It involves stamping a skeleton with fresh blood to reanimate it as a minion. It is basically the definition of Necromancy.
  6. I read through this and the OP, and I have to say, great work. This is fairly convincing, but I suspect we won't hear WoB on this for quite a long time. It seems to match with the idea that surgebinders have control of two surges, relating to two focuses, and thus planets are attuned to two essences.
  7. What if Adolnalsium and Calamity are of the same race? They would both come from a place beyond the universe, so Reckoners and Cosmere are still "seperate," except for these godlike beings. What if?
  8. I personally doubt that the Shatterers were highly invested before the Shattering. We know there was magic on Yolen, but not in the same way as post-shattering. I would think that magic would be more like on minor Shardworlds, of which Brandon has said that there is ambient magic in nature, etc. that people can interact with, but not invested magic users like on Major Shardworlds. To add to your wild guesses, perhaps Adolnalsium and Calamity are of the same race of creatures, from a place outside the Cosmere and outside Earth's Universe. This would lead to an even larger connected multiverse, containing the entire Cosmere and the Reckoners universe, and possibly even more. It's a stretch, but it seems like something Brandon would do.
  9. I think it's very plausible that the identity of an object would make it harder to soulcast. It makes me wonder if one could protect themselves from being soulcast like Jasnah did to the muggers in WoR by tapping feruchemical Identity.
  10. Name: Hammerspace Primary power: - Pocket dimension Creates portals into a pocket dimension. Portals open into a space consisting of a flat, grey-white featureless plain with constant overhead illumination from the sky. Portals can be any shape but have a maximum size limit of about 100 square feet of area. They are static once created but can be dismissed at will. Hammerspace can create as many portals as can fit in about 1000 square feet of total area. The range of portal-creation abilities is limited to within around 30 feet and line-of-sight. The pocket dimension is apparently infinite in all directions, and portals created from within the pocket dimension can be connected to any existing portal outside. New portals created from the outside can be placed anywhere in the pocket dimension. The ground is hard but easily cut and chipped with almost any tool. Regardless, it possesses impressive tensile and compressive strength and thus makes a versatile building material. Secondary powers: - Telekinesis Outside the pocket dimension, Hammerspace possesses telekinesis capable of lifting a total mass of about 3 kg. Inside the pocket dimension he can lift very large objects amounting several tons. Telekinetic abilities are nearly limitless when applied to the terrain of the pocket dimension, allowing him to form and manipulate very large objects from the ground itself. Terrain can be made to meld seamlessly with other pieces of terrain when manipulated in this way. -Kinetic Damping Any force with a large enough momentum will trigger an automatic kinetic damping ability that will slow or stop the impact. This protects Hammerspace from large falls, bullets and blunt impact, though a slow knife, poisons or other methods would still be effective. -Enhanced physical abilities Hammerspace possesses minor increased physical abilities, about 10% greater than a regular human. However, these abilities are vastly increased when inside the pocket dimension, granting speed, strength, stamina, durability and reflexes about 200% better than that of a regular human. Weakness: Unknown, but believed to be related to procrastination. Recent activities: Hammerspace has developed a small city inside of the pocket dimension made mostly of the sculpted terrain found there. It is held as a mostly self-sufficient haven for scientists and engineers, and prospers by selling tech and managing long-distance trade through use of portals. Entrances rotate between various large cities in the fractured states on a regular schedule.
  11. Bullets contain the gunpowder that fires them, which is just an efficient form of storage for chemical energy. Assuming Curveball's power applies to all projectile weapons and not just handguns, I see no reason it wouldn't work on the Gauss gun.
  12. I don't know much about fabrials, but I would assume this is the difference between fabrials and metalminds. Fabrials channel investiture, while metalminds store it physically inside themselves. The way half-shards work is they are putting that investiture into the shield itself, to block shardblades. At least I assume. Do we have word on if a shardblade could cut an infused gemstone?
  13. Personally, I support the idea that shard plate is made of lesser Spren, like windspren. As for half-shards, I think the reason they can withstand a hit from a shardblade is that they are essentially fabrials pumped full of absurd amounts of stormlight, and therefore investiture. Not as much as a shardblade, but a whole lot more than a Broam. It's the same principle as why metalminds are resistant to allomantic pushes- highly invested objects can't be easily influenced by magic systems. Half-shards have a lot less investiture than shardplate, because they aren't made of actual Spren, but it is enough to withstand a hit from a shardblade.
  14. If you park yourself in front of the only door with a cadmium-bubble up, they have no way to get inside without passing through your bubble. Granted, it's more useful for the guard than the thing being guarded. I'm just trying to show that cadmium is good for something.
  15. How so? With a bubble I can wait through the entire night parked in front of a door in a few minutes. If anyone tries to shoot me the bubble should deflect it and I will notice, and if anyone tries to engage in hand-to-hand combat thy have to enter the bubble. Granted it might be better with some Pewter or Gold Feruchemy, but it's not bad alone.
  16. Pewter for any manual labor, ever. Cadmium as a night guard, or any other job that requires a lot of waiting. You could speed through it in an instant. I wonder if it would be illegal to hire a rioter to riot hunger in passerby near your restaurant... It seems like there is a lot of potential for shady business practices with Zinc and Brass. One thing I really hope happens as the tech level becomes more advanced in the books is power plants powered by steel and iron mistings. Rather than have a giant coal plant that burns tons of coal a day, you could hire a couple of coinshots to push on a turbine and supply them with a tiny vial of steel shavings. Clean, cost effective energy, especially if they can ever get mechanical Allomancy properly sorted out.
  17. The letter says that "Ati (Ruin's holder) was once a kind and generous man," at least before he held Ruin, so Shardic Intents weren't entirely guided by the desires of their original holders. However, we also have WoB that not all shards are paired into exactly opposite intents like Ruin and preservation. I think it must be some mixture of Adolnasium's personality traits as well as those of humans in general, the intents of the holders, and/or some kind of "Cosmic balance." It's hard to make a judgement without more infoI almost feel that we are reading too deeply into this, and that Shardic Intents might not follow any kind of structure or reason at all. Time will tell.
  18. It could probably store your "sense" of heat, which would prevent you from feeling cold or heat, but it wouldn't prevent the negative effects of extreme temperatures like brass does. Similarly, you could probably store your sense of hunger or pain, but again it would only store the sense. You could still die of starvation or receive a fatal wound.
  19. On the other hand, draining your opponents Metaminds with chromium could be devastating. I doubt Miles would be much of a threat without his infinite healing. I assume Duralumin and Bendalloy would allow you to quickly tap your entire metalmind at once, much more than would normally be possible. They might also enhance the effect like compounding does, with the unfortunate side effect of draining your entire metalmind.
  20. Corrext me if I'm wrong, but the extra ruin isn't the atium, it's the difference in power from when preservation sacrificed some of his power and his mind to trap ruin at the WoA.The pits of Hathsin have a shard pool beneath them, I believe, but instead of the power gathering into a pool, it is concentrated into beads of atium.
  21. I am fairly certain that Excisors are Unkeyed Nicrosilminds (or medallions) that grant aluminum and Nicrosil Feruchemy. This combination would allow other types of Metalborn to crate medallions. The only problem is that of filling the Excisors with Nicrosil and Aluminum investure in the first place, and refilling them. This could be accomplished by compounding. The Excisors might also be spikes containing F.Aluminum and Nicrosil, which would solve the need for investure input.
  22. Never played the MAG, but a note on feruchemical Nicrosil- I'm pretty sure tapping Nicrosil would increase your allomantic power, but would never grant you powers you didn't have the ability to store in the first place. So a steel/Nicrosil twinborn could probably put a coin into orbit while tapping, but they could only tap for greater steel effects, not make themselves a full Mistborn or anything. The only reason the bands themselves grant godlike powers is because they have all the metals already stored. You may have already known this, but I wasn't entirely sure based on the post.
  23. Thanks for the answers guys, Tia makes a lot more sense now. BoM spoilers
  24. Sorry if these have already been asked, but I'm not going to sift through 53 pages of questions. Is there a limit on how much of an attribute can be stored in a metalmind? I notice that, for instance, Sazed has Coppermind bracers but only a steel ring. Do we have any info on how much can be stored in a hunk of metal? Can a metalmind ever be "full"? I would imagine this would be measured in something like [100% Attribute]-Hours per gram. For example, storing 50% weight for two hours gives you 1 Weight-hour. I want to know how much of that can be stored in a gram of metal. My other question has to do with compounding. When you compound, do you burn attributes in a metalmind to immediately get the effect, or can you re-store the compounded attribute back into another metalmind? Does Miles sit in his room and compound to fill his goldminds, or does he actively burn goldminds while fighting to heal rapidly?
  25. I don't know how to embed videos, but "Take Flight" by Lindsey Stirling reminds me of Kaldin, especially him discovering his powers and later fighting Szeth in the final battle of WoR. "Roundtable Rival" by the same for Wax dispensin' some good ol' Roughs justice.
