What if there was another entity like Adonalsium? They might react to each other similar to the way Ruin and Preservation do. I say similar because Ruin and Preservation didn't shatter when they touched, but that may be because they were both from the same origin, and Adonalsium and the other entity were from compleatly different origins so they shattered when they - how do I say this - "fought" each other.

If any of them were opposing Adonalsium, from what i know the most likely one would be Rayse

Windrunner/Mistborn Allomancer with an Honorblade that gives the powers of a Lightweaver. Honorblades do not scream when touched by a Radient because they are not a dead spren and they never were a spren, so it would work

Welcome to the Shard, Olm. I'm of the camp that Odium is not influencing his boon or his curse, but instead changing the Diagram in the same way Ruin changes writing. That would be a much easier way to manipulate Taravangian than changing the effect of another Shard's influence on a person.

Actually I'm pretty sure that the Liar of Partinel is going to be a prequal to Dragonsteel as the Hobbit was to Lord of the Rings. Not really affecting the actual story line, just providing some background knowledge about how it all began.

No, it would not be a "Double Class" Shard, but it would be more like a Half-Shard(Adonalsium Shard type). Nobody can make a new Shardblade, but they can make something similar called a Half-Shard(Shard-shield type). I suspect that it would be something similar to that

The author of the 2nd Letter said "current incarnation" when talking to Hoid. I think that it was written while he was still posing as the King's Wit, considering the content of the quote above. Does current incarnation mean that he had other incarnations? Maybe he Returned? More than once? And is Hoid his name or his master's name?

Yeah, you may be on to something there, but there is also the fact that there may also be a Divine Breath(s) among the 1,000, which means that it could be equivalent to much more than 1,000 normal breaths

What is this "social life" everyone is talking about? Do I even need one if I have the 17th Shard? Probably not.

The one Hoid mentioned there is actually Cultivation, one of the 16 Shards. Also, Hoid is still much older than Vivenna, because she was born long after Hallendrin was built, which was long after the beginning of Nalthis, which was long after the Shattering of Adonalsium, and Hoid was there before the Shattering of Adonalsium. (this is a huge understatement, by the way)

That's what I had already figured out, along with some other theories. I have done extensive research on this subject, but still crave for more knowledge, as most of us 17th sharders do.

Yes, it does make sense. I hadn't considered that, but it fits most of the facts we know fairly well. Storms, it almost fits too well. But why is the Seventeenth Shard after him then? (Assuming that Hoid was the one that wrote the letters, which is still up for debate.) The main problem I can think of off the top of my head is that Brandon has confirmed that Hoid is not a Sliver.

What powers do Shards have? Are some more powerful than others, or are they all created equally powerful? Their powers are all different, and some are better at some things than others. Honor admitted that Cultivation was better at seeing the future than him, so does that mean that other shards would be more powerful, but worse at other things? And what are those other things? Why are the magic systems all different, and not the same? After all, they all came from the same thing: Adonalsium. Do the shards all have the individual skills that Adonalsium had? Actually, it is probably that they do have different powers, but they each have different parts of Adonalsium's powers.

Post anything about Hoid here. Theories, questions, interesting facts, where he has been, what he was doing, anything at all as long it is relevant to Hoid.

It also should be noted that Nightblood can cause people who have greed or evil intent to pick him up and kill each other and then themselves

Yeah, but I couldn't figure out how to. I have read the first three Mistborn books, WoK, WoR, and Warbreaker. I'm halfway through The Alloy of Law. Edit: I have read Elantris too now

I want to know anything, anything at all about that man's back story. All I have managed to find out is that where he came from is supposed to be revealed in Dragonsteel, that he was there at the Shattering of Adonalsium, and he was originally human but changed enough that when asked, Brandon just said: "it's complicated." Also, in Warbreaker, he said that he had learned at least one way of storytelling from a man who was insane.

A Shardblade is one part of a Splintered Shard and Nightblood is Invested with 1,000 parts of a full Shard, and it also feeds off of any other kind of Investure while being used. Not to mention that it is possible that Nightblood holds one or more Divine Breaths among the 1,000, and he is semi-sentient.
