  1. I think what makes Sadeas's death so powerful is that almost everyone that read it was cheering on Adolin all the way. However, afterwards, you take step back and are horrified. It really was a gruesome death and it was a giant shift in tone for Adolin's character. I wonder what kind of consequences this will have for Adolin psychologically, not to mention politically, in Oathbringer.
  2. I'm not sure if it's physically possible for a Shard to fully invest itself into something. That being said, if a Shard were to hypothetically so that, I think the Vessel would just Descend (a term I just invented meaning the opposite of Ascension) and become a Sliver.
  3. I would be totally on board with this!
  4. I don't know what you guys are talking about. The progress bar still says 52%.
  5. Has anyone seen all the spambots in General Brandon Discussion? Is anyone dealing with that?
  6. Fascinating! This bubblegum is so mind-numbingly average that it becomes the most interesting gum in the cosmere! Thus it creates a paradox. I've been needing one of those to power my refrigerator.I will trade a similarly paradoxical flower. It is exquisitely perfect in every way, but is also being mass-produced and is therefore commonplace.
  7. My family still hasn't had a chance to go grocery shopping after Passover and we only have the bare essentials at our house. It's very annoying. There's nothing to snack on!
  8. Mistborn has a few heavy themes. Abandonment and trust are a couple of them. Vin has abandonment issues from when Reen left her and has a lot of trouble connecting with anyone after the fact because of Reen's insistence that "anyone will betray you". Vin's whole character arc in TFE is her learning to trust the crew. The interesting thing is that this isn't a steady progression; it has setbacks, namely, Kelsier's death. She sees Kelsier allowing himself to die as him abandoning her and her trust in him was completely shattered. In the end, however, she begins to trust people again, mostly because of Elend. The last line of the book is her in Elend's arms and realizing that all she ever wanted in life was to be accepted and loved. Another interesting theme is that of faith and religion in general. Sazed's whole arc is one of my favorites. He tells Kelsier in TFE that faith isn't just for good days. Contradictions and doubts are what give faith validity. It's also interesting to note that Sazed doesn't exactly practice what he preaches. In HoA, he stops having faith (at least mostly) because of Tindwyl's death. There are a ton more themes and fascinating things to talk about in Mistborn, but I'm a bit lazy right now, so I'll leave it up to the rest of you to talk about it.
  9. As long as you can promise me that the albino chickens won't lay siege to my house to get their feather back, I'll take it. You can never trust those chickens. I will trade a tissue used by a rich man. They're worth so much more than ones used by poor men. I'm not sure why.
  10. If Felt is a kandra, maybe he didn't work for Straff. Maybe he was planted as a spy by another noble house. Or maybe he's defected from the First Contract and joined the Seventeenth Shard. There are a lot of explanations.I'm just saying it still makes sense for him to be a kandra.
  11. I was visiting family and friends in Canada, as well as doing some sightseeing. And when I say "some" I mean that every single day we would be dragged all over the province to see everything. It was a ton of fun, but also exhausting.I'm...not sure how to upload pics here. How would I go about doing that?
  12. Whew! I just got back home after almost two weeks of hardcore vacationing. I think I need a vacation to recover from this vacation.
  13. Hrathen all the way! I just love sympathetic villains. Also, I liked how he was a very logical man going through an emotional (or spiritual) crisis. It made him change and think in ways he never did before.
  14. For all intensive porpoises.
  15. I'm in an airport waiting for a plane. I've been here for about five hours and I'll be here for another two at least... Good thing I brought a giant pile of freshly-bought books to read! In unrelated news, I've just read Coraline for the first time in a single sitting. Has anyone else read it?
  16. I just got a 50 dollar gift card for a book store! I'm in heaven!! Also, I know I haven't posted so much on here, but what do I sound like to you?
  17. When you invade Hoid's dreams.
  18. Accidental downvote! Could someone fix it please? Stupid phone.
  19. In a couple hours I'm getting on a flight to Canada to visit family and friends. So excited!
  20. When you have a pile of books to take with you in an 11 hour flight and you realize that they're all Sanderson books.
  21. Not really. I've been practicing for a couple days and it really is very simple. I was just wondering if there was anything anyone would want to point out about it...or something....Now I feel kind of stupid.
  22. I've started learning to play the Irish tin whistle. Does anyone else here play it? Any tips?
  23. Spoilered for length and political-ness. Anyway, sorry I caught the rant bug from Kaymyth. I just kinda needed to vent about this.
