  1. Maybe? However, I can't see it having much information besides "We Don't Know". . . Yolenians - Created by Adonalsium (? - maybe) Scadrians - Created by Preservation and Ruin SoScads - Moved by Rashek (assuming the evolutionary changes don't make them a new species) Selish - Unknown if they Worldhopped or were created there Ashynites - Unknown if they Worldhopped or were created there Rosharans - Worldhopped from Ashyn, but unknown how they got to Ashyn Nalthians - Unknown if they Worldhopped or were created there Threnodites - Unknown if they Worldhopped or were created there Beaconites - Worldhopped from Threnody Komashians - Unknown if they Worldhopped or were created there Drominadians - Unknown if they Worldhopped or were created there Taldainians - Unknown if they Worldhopped or were created there Lumarians - Unknown if they Worldhopped or were created there Eggheads - Residents of Silverlight - Worldhoppers or descendants of Worldhoppers As far as nationalities and part-humans (Horneaters, etc.) - all of that is on the specific Shardworld's page (as applies).
  2. When you see somebody wearing all grey and think "Uh, oh - Awakener, watch out. . . "
  3. Please see this thread: Ookla was Peter's Forum Name for the Time Waster Guild (Archive Link) Forums, which were the predecessor to these forums. Example WoB: Hope that helps
  4. I am unsure if you are asking about Person A using nightblood to kill a Nicrosil Ferring who is filling their storage, or a Nicrosil Ferring storing while weilding Nightblood to kill Person B. For the former, dead Ferring. It won't matter if they stored, tapped or did nothing; if they get hit, they will poof just like any target Nightblood strikes. If the latter, Nightblood will feed on any Kinetic investiture the wielder is accessing, including investiture being tapped from metalminds; and once that runs out, Nightblood will feed on the wielder themselves until the sword is dropped or the wielder is dead. WoBs: Hope that helps
  5. We know that Scadrial had a thriving Worldhopper Trade going on (before Kelsier's antics), and we know Worldhoppers visited Scadrial prior to Alendi/Rashek. I think it's probable that Worldbringers had a significant enough knowledge of Realmatics to have known about the "metal glows" phenomenon - even if a given individual did not personally visit the Cognitive Realm themselves. I think it is likely that changing Scadrial's Feruchemists wasn't just about the interactions between Allomancy and Feruchemy, it also stifled what little Realmatic Theory was known and understood, and helped remove records of inventions like Gunpowder that TLR wanted surpressed. Guns themselves may have started as an import/knowledge share with other worlds pre-Rashek, as we not only see Khriss with a gun in M:SH (White Sand Spoilers):
  6. Great, thank you. Now - standard Sanderson wordsmithing thought. . . Does he mean "Preservation" as in Leras or "Preservation" as in the power of the Shard of Preservation (which could have been weilded by somebody at the Well if there had been instances before Alendi/Rashek)? Of course, the correct answer is Yes. he meant it in any way that would confuse future understanding or allow misinterpretation. . .
  7. I found this one that mentions previous ascensions: But I wonder if maybe it would be easier for you to find if you searched the Forum for the previous time you quoted that WoB?
  8. Exactly. An Obligator might know the truth, but that is surprising to the general populace. We already know there is a disparity between what they study and what they tell the masses.
  9. Maybe I am over thinking this (or under-thinking as the case may be) but it seems to me that Minisitry Doctrine is unlikely to be factual about the number of Kings to whom TLR granted Allomancy. If they "hid" metals to try a long-con on the populace that there were only 10 Allomantic Metals, it seems likely they would have pulled a 1984 and re-written history so that the number of elevated kings (and the number of Great Houses) matched - because, of course the religion of the Sliver of Infiinity would just happen to have the number TLR's "friends and supporters" match the number of kings match the number of metals . . . and those heretics over there claiming that 16 is a holy number are just incorrect lying liars that need to be extinguished.
  10. As far as I can tell, this is the closest we come in WoB Form: True, but also note (M:SH P6-Epilogue): So, yes nobody before Alendi was mentioned in-text. However, we also know that Shard's "intelluctus" (to use a Dresden Files term) is much like it is in that series. . . you only "know" something if you think about knowing it (you need to internally ask the question; e. g. Sazed knew how Rashek used the power because in taking up the power he thought about what went wrong last time; but we never see Saze, Kell or Vin "think" about the period before Alendi or how many times the Well had filled). While it is in no way supported by Canon evidence, my personal belief is that the Well had to have filled, and been accessed, at least three times: Because the Shattering was a long time ago, and it's implied that Scadrial was created shortly after the Shattering The Well would have needed at least the first 1024 yr span to fill and trigger Alendi/Rashek's story But, the first filling of the Well would likely have happened without Ruin's corruption of the prophesy Which is how Ruin realized he needed to alter the prophesy to manipulate his own release Afterall, 1024 years before Rashek, Terris Religion would have only been one of many from one Culture and Nation amongst many Rashek's and Alendi's Story Vin's Story
  11. I can agree with that - though my response that you quoted was not about Full Feruchemists - it was about "why feruchemy, an art that is balanced between Ruin and Preservation (you Ruin yourself to Preserve an attribute, afterall), wasn't "given/created" by Preservation alone." So, if Feruchemy is the natural pathway of investiture for a World created by Ruin and Preservation together, and that pathway is genetic (due to the same) then Ferrings would be the naturally occuring Manifestation of Investiture. My current theory (headcanon), pending more information, is that the Hero 1024 years before Alendi used the power of the Well to "upgrade" Terris from Ferrings to Full Feruchemists (which still has holes, even though we know Rashek made himself Mistborn that way does not mean another hero could have done the same with Feruchemy or to other people, but may have been possible by tweaking Teris sDNA rather than a direct Investing of power). The natural Terris insularity would reinforce that trait and prevent it from spreading across the northern continent. And we all know what happens next.
  12. Technically speaking, the first Secret History was always a planned part of the Cosmere - but at the time of the first trilogy Brandon was unsure if he would be able to write that story. Ditto Secret History 2, there is planned content, he just does not know if/when he will be able to write the story. WoBs: Hope that helps
  13. Please note that this post is two years old, which means it was theorized based on preview material - so the reference you add may just have been added in a later draft and was unavailable at the time this was written.
  14. It is implied that Highspren (some/most/all?) consider themselves to be the Radiant and their Mortal to be a squire (which may explain how they withhold Division from Skybreakers until the Third Oath). That said, except for very few lines from Szeth's Spren (we still don't know their name), Aux is really the first bonded Highspren we have seen on-screen, so this could just be his specific point of view. With a distant third option based on the Adolin Reverse Bond theory: Either way, we don't really know how this is working or why. . . yet.
  15. It is fine if you or they make that decision, just please make sure that you are warning them that Secret History has Spoilers for Bands of Mourning, so that they can make an informed decision.
  16. Rather than move the Shardcast link, they appear to have added a hover delay so it does not trigger automatically.
  17. As far as we know, the "Expanse" names are Rosharan terms for Cognitive Realms that border Roshar's Shadesmar. As such, there are likely only going to be terms for the ones already on the map until/unless we get the Silverlight terms (or unless Sanderson reveals that "Expanse" is the Silverlight term). That said, I think it's far more likely that Broken Sky refers to Ashyn and/or Braize (since being in the same system they by-nature have to be one of the border areas).
  18. Wow, thank you. What a difference. No accidental menus displayed so far today. . . (don't jinx it)
  19. I think you are both sayign the same thing, generally (even if some details differ).
  20. Not sure where you were trying to go this. Kelsier heard the thoughts of all the people in Urteau and the crew, not just the mad or spiked. He did the same to Spook’s mind after his spike was removed. And of course, he heard Vin’s thoughts after her earring was removed. I said "not quite" because of the bolded section of your post to which I was referring. Preservation hears thoughs with or without a Spike. Ruin communicates to cracked souls and/or people with spikes. And Harmony said he communicated with Pathians wearing spikes (but it's the talking that needs the spike). Yes, in SoS he stated it in a way to imply what you said, but he also later fessed up that he can hear anytime he wants to do so (SoS Ch 7): It's a Sanderson traditional verbal sidestep. He did not say "I can only hear you when you have the earring in. . . " Not just a personality in-tune with the Shard's intent - you also can not have more connection to a different Shard. Kelsier got to see how he had far more Connection to Ruin, even though he was Connected to Preservation (saving the Skaa, etc.) - so, after cheating with the Ire's tool to take up Preservation, he still could not use it correctly or completely, because once the false connection was gone, he still had too much Connection to Ruin to be a true Vessel. Kell also notes how Sazed's trials after the loss of Tyndwel increased his Connection to Ruin so that, by the end (M:SH P6C8) Possibly - I always took it to be closer to how Harmony communicated with Wax in BoM. Sazed is injured and dying, and already has a Connection to Preservation. In my head-canon Fuzz can whisper this because he is getting close to the threshold and there was enough Connection to bridge the gap (much like Kelsier and Spook after he removed the spike, now that I think of it). The Latter is part of the explanation for the former. I beleive that Leras set up the prophesies so that the majority of the possibilities he foresaw ended in teh same result - a Human able to take up Preservation and being able to Destroy in order to Protect Scadrial. We just happened to read the story of the one that happened )but not necessarily the only one that could have worked). It's a Batman Gambit because many of the permutation relied upon Ati acting like Ruin (rather than acting like Ati before being consumed by his shard's intent). He didn;t just plan on Ruin not catching the details, he planned for Ruin's changes (sign of 16, etc.), his manipulations, and his tendancy to gloat when he thought all danger was passed and he had won. Possible, I guess - but Vin's reaction to what happens is less than a minute after his beheading - not much further forward than a normal use of Atium. Not to mention his huge Connection to Vin amplifying how he could interpret her possible responses. I find it more likely that he saw only a few possibilities and all or most ended with her sacrifice to stop Ruin. Only if they were trying to access Futuresight at the same time. . . Glad you enjoyed the story and I hope it improved your opinion of Era 1. Will you move on to the Lost Metal next, or save that for after other Cosmere? Note: The Lost Metal has (arguably) the most Cosmere references so far, as well as spoilers for Stormlight Archive 2-4. That said, you would not be the first person I have known to read it before Stormlight Archive.
  21. Welcome to the Shard Does this mean you have not yet finished the story then? Hope you enjoy it - it's a wild ride.
  22. Welcome to the Shard. Here are some tips and tricks of which you may not yet be aware (as each forum is slightly different): Not sure why you schose to make the font so large. if it was a cut and paste, please note that upone pasting, you should have a pop-up show at the bottom of the editor window to convert to plain text - but you can also edit the post, highlight the text and change the size that way. Interesting theory, similar to many that have been discussed, but slightly different as well. Malatium was not produced at the Pits of Hathsin - that was Era 1 Atium (Atium/Electrum alloy). Malatium is an alloy of Atium and Gold (it is still unclear if it was produced by Shezler (Eleventh Metal Short Story) by removing the silver from Era 1 Atium or if it was just adding more gold to the Era 1 Atium Alloy). There is one WoB where a fan refers to the metal from the Pits as Nalatium - but that was a Fan-derived term (not used by Brandon, his team or the stories). WoB - see footnote: Leras changed Preservation's Perpendicularity to accrete in Geodes so that the resulting Atium was contaminated with Electrum so that Electrum mistings would be Atium Mistings and so that E1Atium and Malatium would replace Cadmium and Bendalloy on the Allomantic table to Preserve the Sign of 16. Interesting idea. It might also explain (partially) why the Kandra First Generation Worldbringers were so adamant that they were "children of Preservation." Hope that helps.
  23. Glad you enjoyed it. Kind-of. Yes, as Ruin was in Era 1. Please note (WoB): So, the wrong Vessel holding Ruin could "interpret" the Shard's Intent slightly differently. And that could be a baaaad thing (but, hopefully, Sazed is already biased to see Ati's approach and also channel it in a slightly safer direction). Elantris Spoilers:
  24. Thank you all for your hard work , dedication and receptiveness. Paleo as well, of course (please pass that along).
  25. I've been mentioning this since the new site rolled out, and (ostensibly) they have been waiting for somebody other than me to mention that it is a problem. Upgrade page 1 Upgrade Page 6 (the bad) A few posts back and forth trying to help them understand why the problem is a problem Chaos's response Satsuoni's test Alder24's report But, I agree that months later this is still a problem that bothers me daily. I guess most users are on mobile where it's not a factor?
