Haha, thanks for the welcome Ookla. I love it too; one of my party tricks is when I quote the whole thing from start to finish, complete with voices . Certainly the best of the Monty Python films (at least for me).
The funny thing is that GoT was the last book I added to that list. My girlfriend had this thing of "spending equal amounts of money" on Christmas this year, and I had a bit left over. GoT turned up on book depository and I figured I may as well see what all the fuss is about. No idea whether I'll like it or not, but the show can be interesting at times. And I'm interested to read GRRM from a prose perspective; I've heard he can be quite dense.
Yeah, I generally allow myself to get wrapped up in a series and take it to its conclusion, so I'll be planning to read the Words of Radiance after Way of Kings, just as I'll be reading all the Ender's Game series and the Saga of the Seven Suns in one hit too. I don't know about you but I find it hard to carry over from one book to another if there's a big gap in between my reading of them both. Thanks for the suggestion. I'll add it to my list.
I did! I was looking at Brandon Sanderson's TV Tropes page (don't know if you frequent that, but it's pretty much Wikipedia for fiction nuts, so take a look if you've got an hour or three free) and I saw that that was something he was doing. I think it's really cool, linking so many disparate stories together. When I ran into Hoid in the Mistborn Triology that earned a little smile from me!
