  1. I was talking about Amaram, not Moash :-D Moash I really don’t like, for some reason.
  2. I have spoken about it quite a lot, but it's been a while. I have always read him as a deeply religious man who believed his end goal of returning his gods was the morally correct thing to do, but struggled with his conscience after commiting various heinous acts to that end. I find that interpretation of him fascinating, but it more and more seems like Brandon went more with him just being a selfish prick, which is not as interesting or sympathetic in my opinion. And even if he turns out to be 100% percent non-disputably selfish I'd still like him, just because I have spent waaay to much time defending him to not grow attached to him. I also just find villains/morally ambigous characters generally interesting.
  3. This is kind of how court works in real life. Lawyers look for and use loopholes and technicalities all the time. It is not necessarily about justice, but following the written law. If something isn't explicitly forbidden, it is okay, pretty much. The quote from Syl you posted earlier kind of disputes that. Granted, Syl might very well be biased, and doesn't seem to like highspren very much. But what if Dalinar tells him to obey the laws of the land...
  4. This might have been discussed before (storms, whoever made it might be on here), but I wanted to mention the cool Sporcle quiz with the 150 most mentioned Stormlight characters. You have 20 minutes to write them all down, and it is pretty fun. I got 77% when I did it today (my copperminds are rusty). In case anyone wants to try it, here you go: The Stormlight Archive Top 150 Characters Quiz - By schmendrickpotte (sporcle.com)
  5. I like the idea of a connection between Odium and Vorinism, nice catch! I'd add that Vorinism and the belief in Heralds but suspicion of Radiants also benefits Odium. As does the continued adherence to the Heralds, who, as we know, are mad and not to be trusted.
  6. I am really bad at ranking stuff, but Kelsier is my unbeatable number one favorite. Then I'd go with Nale, Vin, Elend, Amaram, Dalinar, Szeth, Pattern, Vivenna, Mraize, Taln and Hrathen in no particular order.
  7. I'm fine with it being moved anywhere, if the mods see fit to do so.
  8. I doubt Gavinor will be a villain. I do however think that he will have a role to play in the back half, and he might even be on the throne of Alethkar at the series end (I think Jasnah will either die or go worldhopping). Hopefully we get to see him and Kaladin do stuff together, and I’d love to see how he remembers his father. Having him take out Moash would be amazing as well.
  9. Inspired by seeing the ”How Hoid could kill if he wanted to”-thread. Do we think Hoid could accidentally kill someone? For example, if Hoid and some random guy named Bob climbed a mountain and Hoid slipped and accidentally pushed Bob down the mountainside, would whatever magic that prevents Hoid from harming others stop Bobs fall, or even stop Bob from being pushed in the first place, or would he die? I personally assume that Bob would die, since, knowing the Cosmere, Intent probably has something to do with Hoids ”I cant hurt people”-status, but I wonder if anyone sees it differently.
  10. I could see it happen in the future. The two major things I see as issues right now are: 1. As stated by @Mage above, it would be similar to other stuff Brandon has done already in other stories (Mage, you might want to spoiler tag it :-) 2. We just got a brand new Odium in Taravangian, and I doubt Brandon will replace the holder of Odium twice in quick fashion. It would risk undermining the whole twist of Mr. T whacking Rayse. If Moash gets hold of Odium, it won’t happen until the back half, I’d guess.
  11. I don’t really remember, but I do believe I thought he might die at one point during the fight. But then, Brandon has not really been killing off a lot of main characters in Stormlight yet, so him dying there would feel wierd for that reason.
  12. The LotR movie trilogy are the best movies ever made in my opinion. The Hobbit is not as awesome, but I enjoy them. I have read both LotR and Hobbit and some of Tolkiens other Middle-Earth works (Children of Hurin is the best by a long shot) but I’m not particularly well-versed in the lore. That said, I like the trailer. It gives the looks and vibes of Jacksons Middle-Earth, which is what a tv-adaption should be going for I think. I’m excited by exploring various storylines and characters, and the comments from the showrunners sound promising. My one issue is that it looks a bit too CGI-y, but that will hopefully not be too big an issue in the show. Also this. I don’t get how some people can be so incredibly upset over one minute from what will be a hours worth of story.
  13. It is an action video game that basically has the premise of "Minecraft meets Hunger Games with guns". Popular on Youtube, the reason for many of the wierd dances people do on the internet, and the source of more crossovers than the DCEU and Smash Bros combined.
  14. I'm really looking forward to the daily Fortnite tutorial uploads from Chaos on the Youtube-channel.
  15. I doubt the Dalinar-part of the Kholin family is going to die out, and Adolin and Shallan having a kid seems more likely than Renarin having one. So yes, eventually, but it will probably not be plot relevant until book 6 at its earliest.
  16. It is an interesting thought, but I doubt it. I can't really see many other similarities between Paul and Moash than the blindness. And furthermore, I doubt book 5 will have space for a "Moash-being-apostle"-arc. I think he is too far gone now to be more than a puppet for Odium, or, maybe in the long run, a more self-driven villain.
  17. On a related note, does Szeth still hear the screams? I don't think they have been mentioned since he was resurrected by Nale in WoR. This is great. Should be on Ashertmarns Coppermind page.
  18. Dalinar is tricky. I haven't seen him in much, but I'm thinking Kevin Durand. The guy is almost two metres, and is around the right age. For Ash, I'm thinking Nathalie Emmanuel, though Lupita would be excellent as well. Winston Duke for Taln. He is a really good actor, and is physically huge which is important for Taln. Omid Abtahi or Riz Ahmed would be great as Kalak.
  19. What Honorless said. Axies seems to be wandering about causing (or rather ending up in) trouble with local authorities. Given that he is an Aimian, scholars will probably know of him. Who knows, he might have published a book or two as well (I doubt that the Vorin ”men can’t write”-rules would apply to him).
  20. I doubt that Nale will switch sides because of Venli and Leshwi. Predicting how he will react is quite impossible given how broken his mind is, but from a storytelling-prespective, Brandon seems to want Nale as an antagonist and he hasn’t really done anything on Team Odium yet. So unless having him be on the dark side is just a way for Brandon to keep him away from Urithiru for a while, I’d say that he is unlikely to leave Odium until he has done something inportant in his service.
  21. Chaos is gonna be disappointed by the results of this poll... Personally, The Dustmother is a pretty intriguing nickname, so I am voting for Chem.
  22. Someone upvoted this recently, which reminded me of it (had completely forgot this thread). And, after RoW, I am kind of proud that I randomly guessed this one year ahead. Taravangian = Odium? - Stormlight Archive - 17th Shard, the Official Brandon Sanderson Fansite
  23. Sorry for missing this guys, haven't really been around the Shard that much in the last few weeks. @Hoiditthroughthegrapevine I would totally have naled it though... next time :-D
  24. We know from previous books featuring Thaidakar (I am avoiding his real name in case some people haven't read the other books featuring him) that he likes to have people worshipping him. And then I started thinking about this quote from Mraize, during his last communication with Shallan in RoW: This does, at least to me, remind of how many religious people speak of interacting with God: in terms of not being worthy. Now, I realize this isn't much to go by, and Mraizes choice of words do not have to mean that he is worshipping Thaidakar. But, I still feel that it is an interesting thought.
  25. Fair enough, although the Kaladin stuff was pretty strongly hinted at, and Navani was the natural fit for a spren focused on the science of Urithiru. No one predicted Moash killing Teft, Restares being Kalak, Rayse dying by Taravangian with Nightblood, or the main plot being the occupation of Urithiru though, which were all way more shocking to me.
