Would that work with the Shard's intent? It's certainly... dark.- 37 replies

That's... possibly a first. We must counsel, my siblings.

Lift could totally pull off a Shardstick. Death by Shardstick. That would be nice.

New character in Edgedancer [Edgedancer Spoilers]

"lol, they fall for that every time" I'm laughing my butt off over here, please excuse me. I would vote queens if the scourging was real. Otherwise, I would vote hive. -
I have never thought about that. What if it wasn't his bane, but her boon?

Edit: This was already discussed here. Didn't see despite searching. My bad! Nothing new here, move along. So - I've been toying around with that ever-since I've noticed that Renarin's spren is male and people don't always end up with the opposite gender. What if the gender of the spren you bond reflects on the gender you are attracted to? Just to clarify: I'm perfectly fine with people being attracted to whatever, as long as two consenting adults are involved.

Has Brandon Chaged the Canon? [Edgedancer Spoilers]
manavortex replied to BlackYeti's topic in Stormlight Archive
We're not told that it is so. We're told that Wyndle believes that it is so. That's a big difference. -
I looked that up, highlighting the important bit: I hereby theorize (theoretize? theoreticize?) that one needs a bonded Spren hear the Shardblades scream (my evidence: Dalinar. He couldn't have dropped his five minutes later when the Stormfather told him to, just for the sake of research, could he?). Relis is hearing it as well - after all, he is holding the blade while the screams ensue. On that axiom there are a few other questions coming up. Are the bound spren screaming on behalf of the dead ones? Are the dead spren screaming through the bound ones? Are the bound spren giving the dead spren life enough to scream? (Again, Relis hears it too.) As to not completely hijack this thread with unconnected speculation - Whether or not Adolin is bonding his blade he cannot say. However, it appears obvious to me that he feels a bond to it: We have a dead spren, bound in a shardblade a young man who anthropomorphises his Shardblade, not knowing that he is right a proto-Radiant who has just recently been broken: a big fat RAFO from Brightness Sanderson (I really need to figure out a fancy title to use for him. The demiurg? The Chronicler Beyond?) instead of a "no, you're wrong". This might be evidence and not proof, but I would put my spheres on Adolin. Thank you for listening.

I think belief comes in as perception, which heavily influences the Spiritual Realm. In Spook's belief Kelsier is a god, and gods can talk to their followers. Thus, the Law of Probability (as seen on the Emperor's Soul) indicates that it is possible. I kinda guess that you can override the law if you put in extra power, short-circuit things for a short time (like our heroes do from time to time by pulling off crazy stunts in emotionally challenging situations), but since Kelsier was pretty limited as a Sliver...- 37 replies

I checked that because it kept nagging at me: Not saying that he is spiked. Maybe there are other ways to gain the talent , or you can just grow the eye back, or... The wording strikes me as odd, given that this is Brandon Sanderson (stealer of women's virtue night's sleep) we're talking about.

@Yata: Given that I signed up here because of the black sphere and you seem to know quite a bit about it, could you point me to your sources/theories so that I can catch up? Concerning "corrupted" investiture Somewhere I picked up that Nightblood might have been created after a Shardblade (I think wild theoretizing in the Stormlight reread's comments). Let's just say that it's the case, who of the sixteen might have stood model for the sword's Intent? Who would Nightblood be Connected to that he might "warp" the Breaths by Ben being infusing him with part of his nature? I daresay it's probably not Endowment.

We have a WoB somewhere that odium is actually scared of harmony. I think that it is because harmony could soak him up, like preservation and ruin soaked each other up.

Why can't you?

... it's probably like finding little gifts from drunk you, back when you are sober you again. Must've been an entirely different state of consciousness. Or he didn't want it easy to read, so it would be harder to steal and abuse? Just to suggest something likely for a change.

The attuning of a rhythm floods you with the corresponding mood to a degree that you can change how you feel (you're anxious, but sing to confidence). That somehow attracts the spren. I'm not sure that it was ever said how they actually bond with them. Humming might help you attuning the right state of mind you need to soulcast..? Was it ever mentioned about Navani drumming on anything? Her fingers, or the like? Making rhythms? I recall faintly, but maybe I just influenced myself.
