It definitely stacks. It's additive. I can go look up WoBs but I'm 100% sure. Anyway, the whole thing with lerasium and alloys... I think that while pure lerasium may do few things, the alloys can only turn people into Mistings. I see it like the difference between burning metals and burning mists - both are essentialy the same, drawing upon Preservation's power; but burning metals is confined to 16 possible effects since it's filtered through the metals while you could do all that and more things with burning the mists (there's a WoB that Vin could have done different things).

Speak the First Oath: Theorybreakers are those who deal with judging and assessing theories, finding flaws and inconsistencies, providing arguments to the contrary etc but they have to stay polite and civilized about it. Such critical feedback is (pun not intended) critical to the person who made the theory.

While I'm no Honorspren, I can also recommend. There's this guy I usually recomend: Koko. Now, there are three links you can follow: Sawdust, A Quartz Bead and Stick in the Mud. (Sawdust is the earliest work and SITM is ongoing so there is some quality shift) Should you choose Sawdust, you'd find a complete three chapters (around 150 pages in total?) of a story of four high-school friends. I do recommend. It's a little crazy. I can't even properly describe it. Should you choose A Quartz Bead, you will find an over 200 page,quoth the author, "completed fantasy comic about a girl, a house and a talking shadow." Do recommend. Should you choose Stick in the Mud, you will find an on-going (currently over 400 strips) comic about a "bar, drugs and monsters". Do recommend. Two updates a week. (It's mildly NSFW at times. Rarely but I figured I'd say) So, all of them are good, two of them are completed, one is on-going. I recommend all of them. Go read it.

@Pagerunner the first one talks about the magic/science dychotomy. So it does not prove that a non-Nalthian could Awaken given a supply of Breaths, it's more along the lines "any Nalthian could be an Awakener". I could swear I have seen something about some Spiritual gene needed to Awaken but I never found it. EDIT: Actually, that second WoB... It can be understood in different ways. Brandon does talk about "ability to become an Awakener" and that without Breaths on top of it you can't Awaken. Then he adds that they can receive Breaths which would imply that both requirement have to be met. This is one of the interpretations and I do not wish to discuss it. If anyone has a definite WoB on this, please supply. EDIT: @Kurkistan, you're the man But seriously though, you have your own database of WoBs?

Well, I'm basing it on the WoB that magics arise due to the interaction of the Shard(s) and the planet they're Investing in; since we have different Shards with different magic systems sharing the focus and we also have a case of a new Shard coming to an already established Shard-planet-magic interaction on Scadrial and still getting metal. I'll go look for that WoB. I usually have trouble finding it...

The focus is tied to the planet itself. Having created Scadrial, Leras and Ati could have influenced its creation to get a focus they wanted.
