That's funny, because I didn't realize until now that Tom Hiddleston was my pick for both Ruin and adult Kvothe back when I read each series the first time.
For some reason I thought that Dalinar, Sadeas, and Gavilar were all brothers until my recent first re-read. Never mind that Sadeas has a different last name than the other two, I guess.

I think that their strategy shouldn't be to sell it as a Cinematic Universe, but to follow Brandon's example and severely downplay the connections and sell each series based on its own story. They shouldn't be trying to ape the Marvel formula, for the simple reason that there isn't an Avengers-style team up movie five movies down the line. Maybe not even 20 movies down the line.
I think dropping subtle hints (like Hoid's presence) will be enough to clue people in to the overall story.
I'm also avoiding spoilers (well, all news, really) for The Last Jedi, Infinity War, and Game of Thrones, so a couple months of not reading Oathbringer is a walk in the park.
