    How about this. Cloud magic itself doesn't require statues, but the statues can grant increased mastery to Cloudsmiths. The statues also create different kinds of clouds with different effects. Using these clouds causes you to become more attuned to the ideal. So someone using love begins falling in love or somesuch. The aspect of powers becoming more powerful if you use them correctly Stormgate mentioned can be atributed to the statues simply giving more power to those who focus on their ideal.

    Ok then to make cloud magic more 2nd law friendly, it consumes clouds. The clouds are absorbed through being near you when use magic. Also came up with the means of getting cloud magic. It is acquired through absorbing huge amounts of clouds.

    Some ideas: -all or most animals are our world animals with bird-like traits(wings, beaks, feathers, etc.) -The clouds have zero gravity and can be turned into solids or liquids either through temperature changes or using cloud magic -Cloud magic also allows one to decrease his weight and move clouds(only in gas state)

    Those things could then control chasmfiend, walk up to an army kill them and put their arms on it's head and back and ta-daa you got a long range chasmfiend. Also another thing. Radiant kandra with shardplate bones.
