I'm working on one now, but won't be able to put it on ao3 until the 19th at the earliest.

Aaaaand I found it so ignore this

I'm not sure what the 17th shard's policy is on NSFW stuff. This is technically NSFW, so I hope I indicated that well enough. I remember seeing a specific post on tumblr, under the sinsmere thing, about, um, potentially sexual uses of the magic systems. I can't find it again, and could really use it for a fic I'm writing. Anyone happen to know where I could find this post? It's a long shot, but I figured I'd check. Again, sorry if I was incorrect in posting this.

It seems like it's been a pretty long time since those three books came out. Is there a set date that the three spoiler boards will be integrated into the main mistborn one?
-
I don't know, I think the first trilogy could make good movies. They would have to not include some things though, because the books are really long.
-
I keep visiting bookstores where Mistborn is categorized as young adult (teenage) fiction. I wouldn't entirely mind this, but only the first three books are categorized as YA by these bookstores. I'm currently in on where the first three books are in YA, and the others are under science fiction/fantasy. What's up with that?

I personally think Rashek didn't bother stunting the growth of the Southerners. They may have researched all sorts of advanced technology, but never invented planes or the like because there was no need. As far as they knew, only the south was inhabitable. Why explore the dangerously hot central area of the planet if there's nothing there? Plus, even if they had invented planes, it's not like they could have destabilized Rashek's regime. Short of divine intervention on Vin's part, there was literally no way for him to be defeated. Even if the Southerners showed up in planes, he condo have easily destroyed them.

I don't know about that. The Elantrians were doing some VERY advanced stuff even in final empire times. Some world-changing stuff. I'm trying to avoid dropping secret history spoilers, but world changing.

Stealing attributes like strength does weird thing to humans. It basically causes madness in them. Only kandra, which aren't sentient without the stolen attributes, can have those spikes without going mad.
-
Even if they were dropped off with nothing (which seems unlikely since Rashek wanted them to survive as a contingency), the southerners would have been able to rebuild society. Based on the fact that it took 314 years for the north to reach Earth 1910s equivalent tech, we can assume pre-Final Empire Scadrial was at about an Earth 1600 level. Even if the southerner's technological development was severely slowed, being more than 300 years "behind" earth and surviving as a society seems extremely unlikely to me . Worst case, Southern Scadrial is operating at an Earth 22nd century level of technology.

Found the Harmonium Symbol
-
That's what I'm constantly thinking. Even if all their issues caused the southerners to not be as advanced as they could have been, they should at least be several centuries ahead of Earth.
-
Anyone else feel like the masks of the Southerners are more than they seem? Considering that the Southerners didn't have the thousand years of technological repression of the final empire, they should at least have technology equal to 24th century earth. Perhaps the masks are HUD devices of some sort?

The symbol for harmonium was on a badge at a release party for shadows of self. I don't have the link, if someone else does? Also regarding the existence of the Lerasium symbol, Rashek and the people he gave Lerasium to knew of its existence. It's not impossible he had a symbol for it created.

Kelsier got a bit weird with his noble hate toward the end. I'd say more, but secret history spoilers. Spoiler-free, he has the opportunity to get rid of the noble class and the old noble families forever, br doesn't take it.

Determination is a storable feruchemical attribute. However, it is also an emotion. Rioters can increase emotions in a person. So could a rioter increase a ferring's determination and allow them to store much more of it?

I've waited for a thread like this forever. The clear answer is Senator Inis Julien. Because I'd do the same thing. Because I'd do the same thing.

But yeah Josin and Mi'chelle are named for Brandon's friends. Same with Demoux.
-
To me at least, the books aren't very "wild west". Only the prologues are ever actually set in the Roughs (the Wild West equivalent). Wax tries to act like an old west gunslinger at times, but a lot of the focus is on how he can't really do that anymore. The books really are more analogous to pre-WWI city life. I myself hate westerns, but adore the era 2 books.

Yeah, stars are really far away. If an allomamcer couldn't see every single thing on their planet, they wouldn't have a chance of seeing stars.

Everyone has little titles next to their names based on how many posts they've made. I couldn't find a list of all of them, or when they go up to the next level. Does that exist somewhere?

I purchased a physical copy of the MAG from Amazon. Any way I could get ahold of house of ashes?
-
Yeah, technology moving forward is really cool. That's something rarely seen in fantasy. What I think is better, though, is how the alloy books are more self contained. Often in fantasy the entire world is explored, and the characters are fighting for the sake of the entire world. That's always fun, but I'd sometimes like to see books set in fantasy worlds where the fate of the world isn't at stake. Instead we get to see how more normal people live, not huge world-changing heroes. Also I feel like the first Mistborn series dragged on at time (Well of Ascension). That issue isn't as present in the Alloy books.

Besides it being the next book, do we know anything about it? Is it coming out next year? When would we get more info?

Preservation's return and other questions
DeadFencer replied to Shards of Silver's topic in Mistborn
The power flows through the world in the form of the mists. It doesn't flow perfectly, however, and tends to get stuck in a certain place. That place is the Well of Awcension.
