My current position is thus nobody knows and seeing how the story is going so far, it may be nobody will ever know. If they haven't find clues, after weeks of investigation, then it may be there are none to find and without incentive, Adolin will never speak up.

Alternatively, Re-Shephir may have seen Adolin do it (and that's why she copied the death). Since Shallan is doing a mind meld with the Unmade, it's possible that Shallan will start to have memories of Adolin killing Sadeas.

I think Adolin will eventually be found out (by at least one person). Either he'll crack and tell Shallan/Dalinar, or Shallan will actually find clues leading to Adolin.

  2. So I just found out that readings done during conventions are fair game here, and I've had an idea floating around since attending the Q&A at GenCon 2017.

The interlude he read had a ship heading into a storm to a place that was previously unsailable because of the storm. My theory is that this is where the Everstorm (or something inside of the Everstorm) was literally trapped. This ties into the Prologue of Oathbringer when Gavilar mentions that humans took something from the Parshmen.

    Quote

"Our enslaved parshmen were once like you. Then we somehow robbed them of their ability to undergo the transformation. We did it by capturing a spren. An ancient, crucial spren."

Anyone else have any theories on this? I'm not sure if it'll be a one off Interlude, or we'll get more information about the trip in multiple interludes. Two weeks till I find out!

Amaram was among the first group, but Dalinar hadn't seen him since, after the first murder, I believe. Sadeas' camp was one of the first, wasn't it?

I remember that Amaram came with one of the groups from the Warcamps, I just thought it was after Sadeas's death. I'll have to keep an eye out for the specific timing when I reread this part in two weeks.

  4. According to @jofwu's timeline*, Kaladin and Shallan survive the Highstorm on Day 4 of Week 8 of Moth 10 of year 1173 (aka 1173.10.8.4). The last event I have on my copy of the timeline is 1174.1.4.1 (arrival of Mr. T).

    Also from the timeline:

    Quote

Rosharan dates: 5 days per week, 10 weeks per month, 10 months per year.

So with that, it seems to be more than 27 days, but probably not much more.

*I'm working off a copy of it, so he may have updated to the exact dates. And my work seems to block and unblock google docs every other day, so I can't check today. Here's his post about his timeline though:

I'm not saying there's not reason.  I'm saying the leap to say every new thing in the book is an offworld reference is a little much is all. *shrugs*

Welcome to the environment Sanderson has created. He's got us trained to jump at shadows and try to go down anything that even looks like a rabbit hole.

And I love it, because I'm almost never right.

  6. Something has always bothered me about Dalinar and the Nightwatcher: when did Dalinar visit the Nightwatcher? The way it is spoken of is that there's a specific place that you have to go, and it's not a short trip. When would Dalinar have had the time to do that, and in such a way that no one seems to know about it (or at least, no one ever brings it up).

EDIT: Actually, isn't there talk of Dalinar having to do penance / a fine to the Vorin church for having visited the Nightwatcher? Or was that just a general thing that was mentioned?

@Stormsurfer Incase you are serious I believe it is pronounced

sssss like the ending of hiss (sound people make for snakes)

Zed without the D (like the pronunciation of the letter Z zed)

Th as in death (not eth, just th)

Basically the S is silent, and it's pronounced like Zeth (i.e. Seth, but with a Z). This is from listening to the Audible Audio Book.

Her brother Toh could have been a world hopper too.

Not sure exactly how to do spoilers, but this is for Warbreaker.

    Spoiler

From what I remember of Warbreaker, it's even possible that Toh is Vasher. Being a Returned allows him to alter his appearance. In fact, the Returned are the source of the Royal locks (i.e. a Returned and a normal human had a child).

Granted, I don't think it's true. But if Evi is Vivenna, then maybe.

What Kaladin is doing is basically EXACTLY what the heralds do for humanity after a deflation: teach them how to forge tools and use medicine.

Yeah, that was my thought as well. Gave me a fleeting idea that maybe it's the Parshmen that lose their civilization each desolation and are the ones that need to be taught up from the beginning.

“Well,” he said, “I have selfish reasons. I’m kind of hoping for some moral support.”

“Don’t hit the message too hard. If you want someone to believe what you’re telling them, come to your point gradually, so they’re with you the entire time.”

    What?

Are you, too, in need of an explanation for the moral quip Shallan made? Because I sure am

I'm guessing Shallan took the phrase "Moral support" and broke it into two different words. The moral of the story can be the message of the story, and so Shallan started explaining how to do a better job with the moral of the story....

It doesn't really make sense, and it definitely isn't funny...

I think that makes perfect sense, although it did take me a minute to come to the same conclusion. It was still bad, and not really funny, but it made sense.

Finally, if the visions Gavilar received are the same as Dalinar's, then Gavilar really was a nutty crazy nutjob of a crazy person. Correct me if I'm wrong, but his bottom line (I can't bring myself to call it logic) is essentially this: My people fight too much, so I will throw the ENTIRE world into war to save them!

I got the impression more that Gavilar just wanted power and a kingdom that endured. He wanted the powers of the Radiants to be returned to humans and doesn't care who or how many have to die to do that.

    Quote

We live without honor, for your gods once brought ours. Without them, we have no power.

I read this as "...for your gods once brought our gods. Without them [our gods], we have no power."

And on an unrelated note: I think Gavilar and Dalinar see the same visions, but they are interpreted differently. It should be noted that the Visions are not just the recordings of Honor talking, they also include an improve phase where a real conversation can be had with the other people. Gavilar may have gone down different conversational paths than Dalinar and thus received different information.

    Quote

    Unite them.

The old Words must be spoken again.

EDIT: @hypatia confirms same visions via WoB two posts up: http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/60631-oathbringer-prologue-now-on-torcom/?page=3#comment-599400
