  1. Okay. So you profess TLR didn't need his old bands for his Metallic Arts, just a small trace of Atium to hold any extra age so he didn't overdo it one day and zap himself into an infant size Sliver of Preservation. With you so far. Being keyed to Rashek only he could touch the age stored within. Alloy Era...the Sovereign (perhaps not physically Kelsier) has new "bands" (a blunt arrowhead...the Hunter Malwish sect?) crafted. Since he, Kelsier, held Fuzz's Shard's power expanding his mind in the 2/3 of the realmatic "strings" he still had via the device the Ire made to absorb a shards investiture + all the Cosmere knowledge he picked up in those 10 years learning more about Realmatic Theory (Sel perhaps...Mistborn: Secret History 2: Kelsier and Raoden's Excellent Adventure) to make him live and what not by cramming all your spirit webs what one needs to live into a hema-spike and jamming into some freshly dead blokes eye hole. You realize that when we hear Brandon actually describe the process, we'll go "duh...we had it all wrong, Brandon Sanderson is genius. Mind. Blown!" Any ideas how the arrowhead was made? Are there more? Is Kelsier gonna appear in the Epilogue of The Lost Metal? Also, 300 was the number of years given for the geodes to regrow in the Pits of Hathsin (Ruin's Perpendicularity permitting Shadesmar travel once again.) Convenient for the Alloy Era to be 300 years Post-Catacendre. Edit: Changed spelling of The Last Metal to The Lost Metal...(cough...ettmetal...er...Harmonium)
  2. We knew before the Bands of Mourning book that the Southerners are using technological metallic arts. These Excisers seem to be one tool that allows the ferrochemists to charge unkeyed medallions. Over 300 years to fight the Ice Death created by Harmony shoving Scadrial further from the sun/star. The Sovereign arrived 10 years after the Ice Death/Catasandra (spelled badly likely) So they froze overnight and began burning up quite alot of their wood (for all we know the Southerners cities might have been stone and metal construction 300 years ago) and we soon see the scene in Hoid's specially delivered Coppermind to Wax. Perhaps the Southerners cities were comparable to Elendel in the Alloy Era. I wish we had a new globe image of Scadrial as we do of Roshar. We see just the map of Elendel, but I presume strongly life isn't relegated to the planets poles any longer. When Wax and Harmony walked round the world he described more. Any words of Brandon about this? I can't make any sense of Theoryland. I can't wait to read of current era look of the Malwish cities. Discuss.
  3. I'm having trouble replying to my own topic via mobile browser. Re: Jondesu Marsh had been augmented the most of all the inquisitors during Hero of Ages with hemalurgical spiked terrismen/women taken from Terris. When Vin passed her earring spike through Marsh's brain in Yomens room, Marsh strangled Vin and she commented that his wrist grew thick as a thigh with Ferruchemical aided strength. Later Elend calls Marsh another Lord Ruler by having over 20+ additional spikes than a normal inquisitor. Fullborn Marsh.
  4. So, it's agreed that the Alloy Era bracers aren't the Lord Ruler's construction? Makes the most sense to me given his paranoia. How TLR made them still eludes me, perhaps a WOB will reveal this. So who, how were the Alloy Era bracers made? The Fullborn Marsh with Kelsier's help?
  5. Easy way to understand the Southerners is this... Imagine the Earth being shoved somewhat closer to our sun for 1000+ years, and no metallic ash to block the harsh sunlight from beating down on you. Then, suddenly, the Earth is placed where it once was, and much further AWAY from the sun. You would feel quite... Colder.
  6. Great point, he afterall, left descriptions on those 5 plates, the poor man's Atium and such. He did have a Hemalurgical workshop at the end of his reign.
  7. Has anyone considered that there is a 32 metal Fullborn alive in the Alloy Era. Marsh His additional spikes given by Ruin over 300 years ago gave him all 32 attributes. All his spikes are full power except for an eyeball spike that was out-of-body/blood for only a short time. Plus, he pocketed those Atium beads seized from the kandra being sold by the 2nd generation long ago. Those beads being compounded would grant him extra life outside of compounding gold. Thoughts?
  8. Thanks Belzedar for the response. The lord rulers bands presumably didn't have the Nicrosil bit, wasn't identified as an alloy yet. Only 11 metals were known back then. Also, 1020+ years before the lord ruler died, how was a pack man able to craft these truly unique items for himself? Did he use his waning shard power to fashion them? Same situation for Kelsier's bands, did Harmony just poof them into existence for him? This topic hasn't come up very much since the book came out which is mostly why I am asking. I don't want to yank on Brandons work, it's fiction and will unravel at some point with enough pressure. Am I the only one curious about this plot item?
  9. I listen to these books, so the spelling will contain errors. Huge fan of the Cosmere and Brandon's work outside of it. I don't have the ability to quote various texts within the books that my betters have. Please help with a simple question, that may not be so simple to answer completely. Who crafted the Bands of Mourning? Before you answer, I would like to clarify what answer I would like. The Lord Ruler had pierced himself with metal bands, 2 feruchemical/allomantic bracers that went between his Ulna and Radius bones of the arm. Pretty good place to put those, however, chopping his arms off would have killed him alot easier than Vin and Preservation's method, but there's no story without doing it Ruin's way. Nevermind that small tangent, besides, I like the story just how it is. It was said in Ascension that there was only a small trace of Atium in those 2 bracers, so it's worth was tiny to feed Elend's empire. 300 years later in the Alloy Era (no I don't call it AoL because that's an internet company that mailed me CD's and trash all the time) Everything has spiritual context due to being sermonized by the Survivor church. Now they are the fabled Bands of Mourning, but knowing "there's always another secret" I doubt that what Marasi thought to be The Lord Ruler's Bands of Mourning are actually his. So, who crafted all The Bands of Mourning? How were they all crafted? Yes, both sets, the Lord Ruler's and the Alloy Era's.
  10. That was Dalinars guilt speaking. Who was scratching zero's on the wall near Shallan at the Oathgate Fabrial towards the end of the book with a far away look on his face and repeatedly muttering? All the scratches appeared near where the Kholin boys were sleeping. I even looked through all of them to see. Brandon put them in to decieve us, plot twist, easy peasy.
  11. Perhaps Renarin's little curiosity "comfort" box contains the Tool(s) he is using to mark up the various surfaces with Glyphs just after Highstorms while he is compelled to do so.
  12. It is said that the Lord ruler gave something to the Southerners to help in their survival. After the Final Ascension of Harmony, this unknown aid must no longer function for the Southerners thus creating the Ice Death from their perspective. TLR sent them unknown aid to survive. Harmony sent Kelsier to help them survive. Possibly Marsh as well at some point(s) I understand Marsh to be an equal to The Lord Ruler. Tangent: These masks that the Southerners wear may be an old tradition handed down from when the South Pole magnetically collected extra unintended Ferromagnetic Ash and they needed to filter their breath.
  13. Whoa, these are all great postulations on a fictional Rosharan timepiece. Perhaps also there are other dials showing moon positions throughout the solar day and night. Another thing that I am curious of is about Desolations. We have had 99 of them and are currently in the final one. When each desolation is concluded, aren't all Engineering and Stormlight feats of learning decimated and lost throughout the destruction of the literature of the land and most of the entire population? I'm given to understand that at least one human woman and one human man are made to survive each of the desolations. Please correct my errors if any, thanks Heroes of the 17th.
  14. Does anyone have an idea what a Rosharan clock might look like? Example: Shallan looked at the clock to realize it was half past the first moon's bell. Sorry if this topic has already been answered. If so, could you link it below.
  15. Kelsier, Spook, or Marsh aren't going to care a bit for the Southern Scadrial people. We do know that the red-eyed Trell Kandra of Red and Gold do. My money is that the Sovereign is one of these guys and playing a very lengthy generation game that is designed to empty Scadrial of human life and make off with 2 perhaps 3 Shards. Looks over at Odium during Stormlight Eras 1 and 2 intermission. Please save us all Marasi-Harmony for Mistborn Era 3.
  16. Bloody Tan cannot have Hemalurgic powers from spiking people and then spiking himself. I recall quite clearly that the most difficult thing about that "messy" art is the precision of the placement of the spike into the spiritual web. Unless Harmony guided Marsh's hands to place the spike(s) perfectly, then it's botched surely just as the Lord Ruler experimented with Hemalurgy for 1000 years and never made any advances. Bloody Tan is described as having a small frame with gentle hands, so he cannot have the Koloss blood that was earlier mentioned. Bloody Tan cannot have Atium because the Lord Ruler's old bracers are most likely in Marsh's forearms at the time of this posting, about 2 weeks prior to Shadows of Self release. (So excited!!) Bloody Tan was delighted to tell Wax about him seeing the "nails" in (presumably) Marsh's eyes and he describes there are forces "moving us." Harmony, duh. Simplest scheme: Harmony knows about Wax and Lessie's 1-2-3 head shot routine, he sends ol' Iron Eyes (Marsh) to Bloody Tan at some point and explains how it's all done. Or has 1 of the 2 known Kandra to study up and play Bloody Tan making sure that Wax returns to Elendel to work on bigger projects. Either of the 2 ways, Harmony has taken a great interest in Wax n Wayne and Harmony is allowed to help both sides, remember the firearms trunk that was teleported when Wax asked and was told he cannot meddle too much, well, if he can help Wax, he can hurt Lessie for the greater good. I'm brand new here and not sure how to censor a sentence on here, so I leave it up to a moderator to censor this suspected spoiler: "I believe that Harmony cannot hold the powers much longer and he is grooming Wax to take his place at the end of the 4th book The Lost Metal." Please discuss. With 2 Mistborn books coming out so close together, I am ecstatic for intrigue and speculation into Brandon's plan for Scadrial. Especially the Southern Peoples of Scadrial.
