  1. Apparently Brandon read a portion of chapter 1 of AMoL during his spotlight at SDCC. You can read it here. It's beautiful. I may or may not have cried a little inside. (Tor also posted highlights from the spotlight itself, if you're interested. I'm not going to post a link to it since the content of that has little to do with this particular thread.)
  2. Last night I went with some friends to Dan Well's signing at Powell's. He was kind enough to join us for dinner afterwards. It was an awesome evening. Especially since my car has now been graced by his presence (I gave him a ride back to his hotel). Oh yeah, he also gave me an awesome thank you gift. You have my permission to be insanely jealous.
  3. Finished the Postman and now I'm reading The Hollow City. So far, it's really good.
  4. I haven't received mine yet. It better get here soon, dangit.
  5. I'm excited to see Colm Wilkenson as the priest. It's a nice nod to the original. Besides, Colm is Valjean. Everyone else pales in comparison. Don't hate me for saying that. I love Hugh, but once you've seen Colm perform, there is no other.
  6. I finished Redshirts. It's brilliant! My favorite part are the three Codas at the end (Oh my gosh! The Codas!) Seriously, if you're not a Star Trek fan, read it just for the Codas. Now I'm reading David Brin's The Postman. I love Brin's prose in this book. It's so beautifully written.
  7. Those are very cool!
  8. Greetings James. (don't eat the waffles) You make chess sets? (don't smell the waffles) Do you have pics? I'd love to see them. (don't look at the waffles)
  9. Wow! That was amazing!
  10. On Thursday I saw the Queen Extravaganza and it was amazing! Marc Martel sounded like Freddie, moved like Freddie...it was astounding.
  11. Thanks, Emeralis!

  12. I'm reading Redshirts and it's awesome!
  13. O.I. should stand for overly inquisitive. BTW, that was the best waffle commercial ever!
  14. Brandon agrees with you. He's said in the past that he really doesn't want that to happen to WoT, though, ultimately the decision belongs to Harriet and Team Jordan. As for what prequels I'd like to see, I definitely want to see Tam's story. I'm on the fence about The Outriggers. In either case, if Team Jordan decides that they don't want these books to see the light of day, I'll respect that.
  15. I don't have a link handy but he did confirm that it would be a series during the Q & A at the Seattle signing last November. If you don't want to take my word for it, the link should be in the report for that event. (If someone more technologically inclined than myself would like to produce it.) I believe it's a Suvudu vid. The future AoL books are going to be intermittently published. He couldn't say for certain (at that time) how they'd fit into the writing schedule, just that they would.
  16. That's true. What they actually do is turn spikes into people. Beware the spike people. They are stiff-necked and have a sharp tongue.
  17. The only thing I can think to say is Squee!!!!
  18. In a future cast you guys should talk about tacomancy and baconmancy.
  19. Well said, Spoonface. There really is too much negative space. It's the type of cover that I'd expect from a small press, especially if it was for a new author. But Subterranean prints special and limited editions for a lot of big name authors and the art on these printings usually fantastic. As a fan, I kinda feel jipped. Brandon deserves better. (You know, like the cover art for Emperor's Soul)
  20. The kind folks at Subterranean revealed what Legion is going to look like. If you didn't get their e-mail this morning, you can view it on their site. Subterranean I have to confess, I'm not crazy about it. I've seen better work from them. The design isn't eye catching. However, that said, it is a perfect representation of the story. What are your thoughts?
  21. Good for you! Stick with it. I'll be cheering for you.
  22. So, you're quitting smoking?
  23. I would like to announce that I received my first rejection e-mail from a publisher. I'm so happy!! Also, I'm eating delicious waffles with real maple syrup and no spikes.
  24. I just realized that this hasn't been posted in this thread. At JordanCon Harriet read part of the prologue to A Memory of Light. Tor posted it a couple of weeks ago. It's pretty awesome. AMoL Prologue
