[Deleted Scene] Emperor's Soul Google Play ebook
WeiryWriter replied to Swimmingly's topic in Elantris and Emperor's Soul
Ah, the original prologue! I've been wanting to read that... Hey Peter, will this be added to the ebook you guys send out if people buy the physical copy and send you a picture of it with them? -
I would say the "magic fish" do have some special abilities. They are in symbiotic relationships with spren after all.

Lerasium alloys have various Physical and Enhancement effects and atium has various Mental and Temporal effects according to the Allomantic chart.

...I understood that... But I only have the vowels memorized... How? -
Taldain is not in the Greater Roshar system. The three shardworlds are Roshar, Braize, and Ashyn (The Silence Divine world).

I'm bonded to spren then... I can work with that. All the surgebinding! -
Anyone else wish WoR flashbacks weren't Shallans?
WeiryWriter replied to Benjibooboo's topic in Stormlight Archive
I for one am super excited about Shallan's flashbacks. She was one of my favorite characters in my first reading of WoK. -
We Need to Check Tor Next Tuesday 02/04/2014
WeiryWriter replied to kobain's topic in Stormlight Archive
No idea what it is, but it will probably be released at 12 eastern, like the excerpts were. -
Brandon was asked about this a while back and he said that there is no canonical way of being able to burn more than one metal, short of being mistborn or hemalurgy.

Thank you!

So I'm going to post the transcription here because reasons. Oh wait what's this? Something new on the Interview Database? And I think the two PAFO's are still unresolved, perhaps Peter can take mercy on us at help us out? This, I’m unsure of what exactly is being talked about because I have not been reading the forum: What happens when a Pulser is burning Cadmium and in a speed bubble? She'd be burning her Cadmium 20x faster than usual--so far as her bubble and those in it were concerned--and her slow bubble would extend far outside the area made "normal" by the effects of the speed bubble, so where does all that extra energy go? Is Resealing a subset of Forging, or a separate system like Bloodsealing is?

Actually I like this the best. Edit: @Feather Okay, from the looks of the IPA thing you did for his name it looked like ren-a-rin, but then again I can't exactly read it. I like the idea of a pronunciation page. Personally though I think we should prioritize the in-world pronunciation over the out-world one. Because Brandon says we can pronounce things however we want there are going to be numerous out-world versions but there is only one correct in-world one. (that got confusing fast...) Anyway, I think the in-world pronunciation should go in the infobox, with a link to the pronunciation page.

1) The Earth's axis doesn't always point to the same point in space. It undergoes a 20,000 year or so precessional cycle (that's what the Mayan calender is based on). If I remember correctly the pole shifts from Polaris to Vega (I'm not sure on the second one). 2) Roshar doesn't have an axial tilt and its season's are based on storm activity.

Pronunciation stuff would be cool to have on the wiki but as Peter points out we have to be very careful in making sure it is correct. I personally don't know IPA so I probably won't be of much help. (I know what things should sound like, but don't know how to transcribe it really). Also is Renarin pronounced "Ren-a-rin" or "Re-nar-in" or some other way? @cem, I'm not really a fan of how that would look. Do we definitely want to put this at the beginning of articles, or could we put it in the Trivia section, with the caveat?

It's from the Allomantic Chart.
-
The problem with that is Brandon says some things wrong. Kelsier/Vin are pronounced differently in-world than what Brandon says, as is Elantris.
-
The Endpaper charts are correct, those were done done by Isaac who now works for Brandon. The interior art is all canonical, in-world stuff and is commissioned by Brandon (as in he pays for it) so he has control over the end result. I don't remember reading anything about surges being in the wrong place, and I'd doubt that it is the case. The covers, he has some influence, but not much. No author does. So the fact that it is not a canon-matching depiction is something I've just had to accept. As for the divine attributes being mixed up in the back of the book. I doesn't really bother me? People make mistakes, especially when proofing a book that size. Brandon caught it eventually and told us at a signing and it will hopefully be fixed in future books. So no harm, no foul?

link added to the OP. I might do a more in-depth post later but right now I just want to say the "intro" is kind of long, and is too focused on his history. If that makes sense? Personally I think the intro sections should be fairly brief.

Oh most definitely... Peter's obviously Hoid who traverses the Cognitive Realm and meddles in everyone's plans theories. -
Not exactly, atium alloys have "expanded Mental and Temporal effects" whereas lerasium alloys have "expanded Physical and Enhancement effects.
-
Probably because it looks cool. I doubt it is actually on the cloak in-book, after-all the cover really isn't "canon", such as the cloak being completely the wrong color.
-
I can, it's actually not that hard with practice. Feather can as well.

The US one. Dalinar is the figure in the foreground, Eshonai the one in the distance.

Actually the Ars Arcanum does not say the Reverse Lashing involves Pressure. It describes it as a specialized version of the Basic Lashing, which also uses just Gravitation. It is the Full Lashing only that is described as involving Pressure.
