  1. This explains why chapter 7 was omitted. It is probably the first flashback chapter. Need those hooks..
  2. By making an oathpact with the spren that was then broken during the recrease. It has a very nice symmetry with the heralds breaking the oathpact too.
  3. I don't think the spren need to share the ideals. Noladan laments that not all spren are as picky as honorspren. This tells us some spren perhaps do not choose the best people to wield power. I see it more as Noladan created the ideals somehow to bottleneck the power. If the spren bonds to an unworthy person they won't progress while those who are worthy have a path towards greater power.
  4. Is there a second Lift interlude? Brandon should quit writing SA books and all the YA stuff and just focus on Lift adventures. She would have been perfect for Dangerous Women.
  5. On one of his better days of course. This just makes too much sense. Too bad we're not getting a Taravangian book
  6. I like it. It's been bugging me for awhile that "The broken one" just doesn't make sense for Odium. Honor would obviously fit as broken, however with Tavanast dead it can't really reign. Jezrien picking up the largest piece would fit very nicely.
  7. Thats not evidence that they're both honorspren, rather evidence that names are not intrinsic to the spren. If there were different types of honorspren you wouldn't need to argue over who is an honorspren, both can be honorspren. But if you have separate types of spren who both wish to be known as honorspen and prevent the other group(s) from using the title than you do have an argument, because not everyone can be honorspren. It's like Roman Catholics and Eastern Orthodox arguing over who is the true church.
  8. Except Cryptics are described as the lighteyes of Shadesmar. Dogs don't rule, cats do. Therefore Shallan's spren is a kitten. Feles Regirent
  9. I'm thinking actual hooks, ala Kalak's thoughts regarding the time the Heralds are tortured between desolations.
  10. Except knights with magic swords were hardly special. It would be like one of us naming our car.
  11. I always assumed swords like 'Oathbringer' got their names later and do not necessarily have anything to do with the sword's nature. Look at Dalinar's vision of the radiants giving up their shards. It's not like they stood their telling the people who grabbed them the names of the shards.
  12. None of the other bonding spren we've seen seem to be honorspren, nor are they all cryptics. I think it is safe to assume it is one spren type for each order. ie honorspren will always bond windrunners.
  13. I can certainly get behind Odium corrupting the religion. But why would Syl think seeing the future was an element of voidbinding?
  14. What if the betrayal was humans beginning to kill the spren that inhabit great shells?
  15. Syl getting a piece of Kal's soul would support a spren talking. It also depends on whether the "shard of my soul" is still referring to the almighty.
  16. I think that epigraph might be a spren speaking. "Ten orders. We were loved, once. Why have you forsaken us, Almighty! Shard of my soul, where have you gone?"
  17. In that quote he also says that only side characters have been gay so far. Is Jasnah a side character? I would say no. I don't agree that something necessarily bad/traumatic happened to her to color her view of men. She was genuinely surprised at Shallan's reaction to a betrothal. If her own views came about because of a personal incident she would be careless to assume another person would have the same views as her.
  18. Because Awesomeblades didn't sound dignified enough
  19. That would make a lot of sense actually.
  20. Shardic intents like 'honor' are nothing more than ideas to begin with. That their self aware splinters are viewed as living ideas should not be surprising. So whats the difference between splinters (ie Syl, Windle) and the host of non-aware spren we have seen?
  21. curse you unreliable ars arcanum writers
  22. We know you can use Shadesmar to travel between planets (just don't visit Sel as the Brandon constantly reminds us), walking through walls seems easy by comparison. Although an observer may not actually see you walk through the wall but rather your body jump from one side to the other as it updates to a new position as influenced by the cognitive.
  23. Is this a retcon? Or were we just wrong about what "body focus" meant that whole time?
  24. Big Papa T?? up until that it was pure awesomeness
