  1. Yeah, Kal and Shallan would not be a great pairing. Shallan is always fluctuating and is really not emotionally or mentally stable, at least at the moment, and she needs someone who she can rely on. Adolin is perfect for her in that respect. He will be there for her, he'll come running. She doesn't need someone who broods, who intermittently falls into deep periods of depression (which isn't his fault, but certainly wouldn't do well in a relationship), who can just go flying off as he pleases. And Kaladin's not exactly in a place where he can fully devote himself to someone, either, or be any good in a relationship.
  2. A lesbian is a woman who is attracted to other women, as opposed to men. We're positing that she's gay, essentially.
  3. I quite like Jasnah! She's brilliant, sharp, independent, and powerful beyond measure. She knows her limits but still pushes them, because otherwise, how do you grow as a person? Also my headcanon is that she's a lesbian but that's not important I suppose.
  4. Me as well! Not in any of those cities specifically but quite near one. It's rather dismal here, actually.
  5. I'm not disappointed in you one bit! Just glad to have you back.
  6. I just can't bring myself to ship this. The bond between spren and Radiant seems far removed from romantic. It's comparable to shipping Lift and Wyndle. I don't see Syladin happening, sorry.
  7. ...brilliant...
  8. @Quiver! Hello! I'm quite glad you're not dead in a ditch! You know me, I'm just incognito for the time being due to the annual Peter festivities.
  9. As Del said, certainly give it time. The only real advice I can give you is what not to do, so. Don't try to sever connection from him, that doesn't help anything. Don't try to find someone else to focus on, because rebounding is never a good coping mechanism. Try your best not to be bitter about the other girl, and just focus on the fact that you can still be friends with him, and try to appreciate that all you can.
  10. So Renarin, then, is the Roshar equivalent of a Twinborn. Sweet.
  11. We know a lot more than we did before Oathbringer came out, that's for sure.
  12. Ah, I see what you mean. That could very well be it. The Oathpact, as per word of the Stormfather, is more "bent" than "broken", so as long as it still holds up, Honor could have supported that idea. That makes sense, that's a great observation!
  13. Can you please rephrase this? I'm not totally clear on what you mean here, and how this applies.
  14. So, folks. In Oathbringer we learned a decent amount about the Oathpact. As a refresher: it was an agreement between Honor and ten people, who would become His Heralds (who originally volunteered to keep the evil at bay, something I didn't fully expect). Jezrien, Nale, Chanarach, Vedel, Pailiah, Shalash, Battar, Kalak, Talenel, and Ishar willingly subjected themselves to torture on Braize by voidspren for centuries at a time, until one of them "broke" and another Desolation began. After the Desolations, if a Herald died, they were sent back to Damnation, and even if they didn't they were expected to willingly go back, for the good of humanity. It was all good, and Honorable, until after Aharietiam, now known as the "Final Desolation" (which proved to be a misnomer), when the 9 surviving Heralds apparently all came to the unanimous decision that they just couldn't do it anymore. They left Taln to suffer for eternity, as he had never given in before, and parted ways. (It's always stricken me as odd that they all came to that same conclusion at the same time. Sure, they were all immortally exhausted, but it seems suspicious.) Now, that may strike many people as being particularly cold-hearted and Odious in origin, but I have another theory: After being broken so thoroughly for so long, the force or being that somehow got all the remaining Heralds to come to the same decision was not of Odium or of some other "evil" Shard or power. The reason the Oathpact was broken (or, more accurately, "bent") was because of Cultivation. In the final chapters of Oathbringer, when Ash and Taln are trying to get out of Thaylen City, Taln tells Ash that it was a good thing that they broke the Oathpact, as it's been 4,500 years since the previous Desolation and humanity has had time to prepare, and there might just be a chance of victory this time. This reminds me of Cultivation taking away Dalinar's memories of Evi, "pruning" him in order to promote growth. Perhaps Cultivation put an idea in the heads of the 9 Heralds that it was time to stop, so that humans could have a chance of finally winning. After all, she does have a particularly potent ability to see the future. Thoughts?
  15. That first one was one of my threads, I feel like a bad thread-parent for not keeping up with it Anyhow, Song of Secrets would be a killer title, and I do believe it'll center around Eshonai/Venli, the singers, and the Willshapers, leaving Book 5 (Stones Unhallowed?) to focus on Szeth, the Shin, and the Skybreakers.
  16. Apparently Eshonai is still on track for Book 4. I wonder what it'll be titled? There isn't much in-world listener literature that we know of, other than the Songs. Song of Secrets, perhaps?
  17. In the original Double Eye chart from ~2003, (enclosed in the spoiler box below) KHOR (Time) was a Surge (assuming they were called surges in that phase of development). Probably not important or relevant but something I thought interesting re: time and surges.
  18. This is excellent! Very thorough and well-made! I have some thoughts. We can't forget about the Survival shard (which I personally think is Patji, though Patji may be something new.) Purity, if you look at the Threnody map featured in Arcanum Unbounded, is the name of a real large planet/thing in the outer Threnody System, so I think that's what that means. Wisdom, however, is a decent bet. I quite like the idea of Mercy or Fulfilment, also Order, perhaps Order and Chaos are binary shards, but that could just be interpretations of Ruin and Preservation. Serendipity is good, as is Empathy. Empathy would be a good match against Odium, I think. And Unity, though a mystery, is always a possibility. Very well done, I'd love to see more on this.
  19. Ah, wonderful! Thanks Joe!
  20. No, the Herdaz are based on Latinx and Hispanic people, I really doubt it has anything to do with earthly religions like Islam.
  21. Perhaps a way to save or favorite WoBs in a personal list or something, in order to be able to find your favorite ones easier or have the ones you want for faster reference?
  22. I really highly doubt that Patji is Autonomy/Bavadin. My money is on Patji being its own Shard, perhaps the Survival shard.
  23. Perhaps Unity is a Cosmeric force like Passion or Connection or Identity, and Odium is saying that he and the others of the 16 killed Unity in Shattering Adonalsium. There might be some weight to the Dalinar-Adonalsium-connection theory, in part because of Hoid's mention of Adonalsium to Dalinar in Book One. Also, if Dalinar is Unity and Kel is Hope, who else do we have?
  24. He loved small weapons. Our Sadeas was what some might call a dagger connoisseur. In fact, he really did have an eye for knives.
  25. Some theories on this! The first is my "safe" theory: Odium, when he says "No! We killed you!" simply means that he and his forces ("we"), using Dalinar's memories, the awful man Dalinar was when he had the Thrill, and Taravangian's machinations to degrade and cast doubt and fear onto Dalinar, tried to effectively disable and kill ("killed") the good man Dalinar that we have known for the past two books ("you"). This could also be interpreted as, since Dalinar is using Honor's power and His Perpendicularity, Odium is affirming that he and his forces ("we") killed ("killed") Honor ("you"), almost as if in denial of what's going on. Now for the crackpot theory. Odium and Cultivation, in the past ("we") conspired, like the gods of Olympus throwing the gold net over Zeus but more deadly, to kill ("killed") Honor ("you").
