Darn. Drake.
-
@Drake Marshall, do votes on you count as votes? I'll leave it on you unless it means that I die, in which case I will vote on an actual player.
-
Elims just don't do that. I can see a roleblocker picking the same target every round, but there would be at least two other eliminators to get the kill through. Drake, what the storms is going on? Can you confirm that the elims do in fact exist?
-
I don't have much time before I leave for work, but I did manage to get that CS assignment done, which is good. Admittedly, my earlier logic was probably not very well thought out as I had 5 hours of sleep, was stressed out about assignment, and worried that I wouldn't have another chance to get a vote in. My initial impressions leaned slightly towards Shqueeves being an elim, and I figured there was more of a chance of elim protection than just getting someone by gut reads on my part, since those have historically been lackluster. Shqueeves brings up a good point of someone using their roleblock earlier and not changing it when Coop's vote did. So, I'll go with Arinian. We'll see if I make it on again before rollover.

I have a huge CS project due today in addition to covering someone's closing shift tonight, so don't be overly surprised if this is the only post I make today. I'll probably get distracted into looking at this anyways, but if I don't show up again, you'll know why. While I'm still not convinced of Mac's innocence, I'll admit I probably focused on one aspect of his post a bit too much last cycle. I'll vote on Shqueeves right now, mainly due to having some suspicion of him before in addition to the vote cancellation we got this cycle. Either Shqueeves is a captain or Shqueeves is an eliminator, and that's a stronger lead than anything else I have right now. Votes (Please Copy and Paste this when you make a vote!): Shqueeves(2): Drought, RippleGylf Devotary(1):Lopen

Don't forget Bort's vote on me, Lopen. Edit: Thanks, Lopen.
-
I got your back, Joe. I probably won't move my vote unless there are last-minute voters, but Straw is also among my higher suspicions at the moment. I probably made the whole avoiding suspicion thing seem like a bigger deal than I actually believed it was, Bort. Can't blame you for voting on me.

Anniversary Game 4/Anonymous Game 1: A Fresh Start
RippleGylf replied to Orlok Tsubodai's topic in Sanderson Elimination
This was a really cool game to watch from the spec doc. For those wondering, I was the ever-so-mysterious lime green. I was super impressed with how close it was at the end, since it looked like it was going to be a complete sweep for a while. ...I feel really bad about how Day 2 went. I should have been a lot more calm and logical in how I responded. That, and I had a lot of other stuff stressing me out at the time. It definitely wasn't how I wanted to go out of the game, but I learned from the experience. Hopefully I can do better in upcoming games.- 1054 replies

See, it's not so much that Mac was trying to avoid suspicion as it is that he's using that as his defense. The logic being, 'I'm not suspicious since I was just trying not to look suspicious.' It just doesn't hold up to me. Updated vote count: Mac (4): Elenion, RippleGylf, Straw, Shqueeves Arinian (2): Drought, Mac Straw (1): Monster Drought (1): Arinian
-
Arinian. Your defense talks a lot about avoiding suspicion, Mac. And while it is natural in these games to try to avoid suspicion out of self-preservation no matter what side you're on, you put a lot of emphasis on it.
-
So, the current vote count stands as such, votes listed chronologically: Arinian (3): Drought, RippleGylf, Mac Straw (1): Monster Drought (1): Arinian Mac (1): Elenion I do understand what Monster's getting at by wanting more discussion, and it very well may just be how Arinian plays. I'd like to see Straw's response to Monster (or anything at all from Straw, really) before I change my vote. Mac is also fairly high in my suspicions. ------------------------------------------------- "Roid does have a point. Eilen may simply behave like this all the time. I mean, Roid does seem to have more experience working with him than I do, to be sure," Sarcoline said absentmindedly, her focus still on the painting in front of her. "Straw hasn't spoken up much, and I'd be curious what he has to say on the matter." Edit: Sparks, Coop! You just had to post while I took forever typing this out. Vote count is now accurate.

Honestly, Arinian is my main suspicion at the moment. Since I haven't played for a while, I don't know if this is how Arinian typically plays, but his posts are among the most suspicious, from my point of view. I thought there could be a scenario where both Monster and Mac were spies, but Monster seems village enough to me at the moment, from his responses.
-
... I can understand that, I think. Monster, for the time being.
-
*facepalms* I was on for rollover, and yet I somehow completely missed Monster's last minute vote. Looking back at his post, the logic does make some sort of sense, but with two minutes left in the cycle, how was I supposed to defend myself? Even if I was paying attention instead of watching YouTube in another tab, there just wasn't enough time for me to formulate a response, not to mention time for you to react to it. Then this cycle, the motivation behind it suddenly switched to 'protect Randuir,' which is a nice sentiment, but only really came up after the fact. I don't blame you for voting on me, since there was some reasoning for that, but there are a number of things wrong with how that situation played out. Monster. ----------------------------- Sarcoline returned to her corner, visibly peeved. Pulled away from her painting, to play a craps game with her life on the line? She shot a glare at Roid, though she knew his choice was in the panic of the moment. Why did he feel the need for another player, anyway? Sighing, she looked back at her work. It was nowhere near finished, though she doubted it ever would be. If the sudden craps game was any indication, she didn't have long to live. She could probably work that into the artistic meaning of it, somehow. 'The Story of My Death,' she could call it. Maybe. It seemed a bit cliche, but she wasn't coming up with anything better.

And on the note of staying alive... (to the tune of 'Come Alive' from The Greatest Showman) You stumble through the days Keep your head down low The spies are in the way Like an axehound in a maze You don't know who lies But you guess anyway 'Cause you're just a dead man walking Thinking that's your only option But you can push the lynch and survive until the next day Sun is up and the kill is blinding Take their word and redefine it Leave behind your narrow mind You want to win the game Stay alive, stay alive Go and fight your fight Let 'em burn so bright Flames go up To the sky It's not cut and dried You are terrified When the world becomes a murder spree And there's more than you could ever see Though you're watching with your eyes wide open Still you prod and pinch and poke again For the village that you're living in 'Cause you're watching with your eyes wide open So, stay alive! It is a bit more generic SE than specific to this game, but all the commentary on staying alive prompted me to come up with this.

*shrugs* Fair enough. Can't really critique your methods, especially with this being the first cycle.
-
Sarcoline, having been made aware by Gormund of the eventful game of craps she had somehow missed, shifted her gaze from Mac to Zaffer. Everything about him seemed a bit... drab. That is, aside from the finely woven scarf wrapped around his neck. It was in pristine condition, notwithstanding the splotch of mud adorning it. "Nice scarf," the artist commented, "Where did you get it?" -------------------- Thanks, Elenion. MacThorstenson's comment makes much more sense now. As for Drought... why exactly are you avoiding knowledge of the rules? Just for funsies?

No worries, Drake! GMing is a daunting task, especially for your first time. As far as votes go... I'm gonna poke MacThorstenson, just for the time being. Did Joe bring up craps odds before the cycle started? Since Joe hasn't posted anything since the beginning of the cycle? -------------------------------------------- Sarcoline Lepinceau glanced around. Of course there would be spies. Why wouldn't there be spies? Nothing to do now but watch carefully, and wait for someone to slip up. Her hands idly combed through the mess of long brown hair on top of her head. She had recently heard one of the officers refer to her as 'that flesh-colored paintbrush over there,' which was a bit peeving, to say the least. It didn't help that she brought all of her watercolor materials with her. Sighing, she sat down and began to paint. She knew her chances of survival were slim, but hopefully she'd be able to finish her piece before being killed off by infiltrators, or worse, by her fellow soldiers. EDIT: To be entirely honest, I couldn't stop laughing when I saw that description in the player list. Good job Drake, for figuring out how I name my SE characters. Well done. XD EDIT: Spelled MacThorstenson wrong... XP

So... not next weekend, it seems. Sparks. Is the weekend after next any better?
-
So, this comes up every time we meet, but we really should get together to play Mistborn House War. This Saturday's too close for people to make plans, but maybe next Saturday during the day or next Friday night? Any preferences?

WoK spoilers? (Don't know if I need to or not, but...) And welcome to the Shard! You can type outside of the quote boxes by clicking below them in the post editor. Edit: ... and I got ninja'd.

I'm happy to see the tradition of giving cookies to new members is still strong. Glad you're here, @cleoslemonade

I will be there! And I'm bringing a fellow Sanderfan with me, if that's ok. She's not on the Shard, but she's about as into Sanderson books as I am.
