  1. It is important to remember that you are only losing one copy of these genes-the other X chromosome still has all these genes. Additionally, some of the differences between male and female has to do with the level of expression of these genes. Having only one copy will lower the expression level.
  2. We also have that mysterious line from the Diagram: "One is almost certainly a traitor to the rest." I had thought that referenced sja-anat, but I am now reconsidering this. I have two thoughts around the broken line: 1. There is a traitor among the Heralds. 2. One of the Heralds has been so worn down by torture that they have broken beyond the ability to be fixed. 3. One of the Heralds has been able to sever their Connection to Roshar and flee.
  3. And then crash it into a cliff!
  4. But then how do you explain the fact that different Shards have different abilities at futuresight? Is it possible that the blotting is simply permanent? Maybe since Cultivation can see so far, Honor is blocked from seeing much.
  5. This is an interesting idea. We know that during the era of Urithiru, there were only 3 Bondsmith spren. However, if BAM were unmade prior to the creation of Urithiru, there very well might have been more.
  6. This...is fascinating. I wonder if the Fused were formed by Odium combining a sentient spren and a Singer's Cognitive aspect. This would explain the lack of Bondsmith spren, as there are only 3 available.
  7. We know that in Shin religion, stones are considered holy and not to be walked on. The lone exception is Urithiru. We also know that Shinovar was terraformed to resemble Ashyn pre-collapse. To me, there are two possible reasons stone is considered holy and not to be walked on. One is a result of microkinesis and the apparent ability of stone to hold memories. The second is that this is an outside-induced prohibition to keep the first refugees confined to Shinovar. We also know that the lone exception to this rule is Urithiru, and this makes sense since it is not true stone, but extruded spren essence.
  8. Its 3 from the pure lights, 3 from paired lights, and 1 from the theoretical triple light. Not that I agree with this, but that is where 7 comes from.
  9. And also to rub it in with the Skybreakers that there was a Lashing they couldn't do.
  10. She wants Navani to succeed, but the composition of the dagger seems like a military secret not necessary for Navani's success. Remember, she still wants the Fused and Singers to win the war.
  11. As I said, that was the least likely of the possibilities.
  12. In RoW, we learned that Roshar has 3 pure tones, and each of them have a color. On Nalthis, they worship the Iridescent Tones. This seems likely to be related. I wonder if Endowmentlight is a mother-of-pearl type color. Also, it is interesting that this is a plural. This makes me question if Nalthis had a second Shard at one point (least likely), has remnant mythology from Yolen immediately post-Shattering (unlikely) or knows about the Tones of Roshar and is including them (most likely).
  13. I don't think you would get a new godmetal for Warlight unless Honor and Odium combined or agreed to work together to create Waring. However, Towerlight is interesting. The Sibling is of both Honor and Cultivation, and has manifested itself in the Physical Realm as Urithiru. Many of the fabrics seem to be set in metal. While it is possible these are all regular metals, is there a chance some of it is Towerium?
  14. Whimsy could be a shard if God has a sense of humor.
  15. What is very interesting in this context, as well, is that the vision area Dalinar sees the stormfather's visions in, as well as where he Connected Kaladin, is described as gold. I wonder if Odium adopted gold in order to fool people into thinking he was Honor, but his base color is that dark purple. This is interesting as well in the context of Mistborn
  16. Tl;dr: Melishi swapped the Heralds' Connection to Honor and BAM's Connection to the Singers. Warning: what follows is a combination of fact, guesswork, and speculation hammered into a theory. Lets throw rocks at it and see what we can knock down. What if...Melishi swapped the Connection of the Heralds and BAM? We know the Heralds were sane when they abandoned Taln. Now we have mindless Singers, Deadeye spren, insane Heralds, and a missing BAM. We know that BAM was connected to the Singers at the False Desolation. The Heralds were tied to Honor. The Singers relied on BAM for Voidlight, and the Heralds and spren relied on Honor for Stormlight. We assume that BAM was simply ripped away and the Connection severed. But why would that leave the Singers unable to think or take forms? And why would that require the Heralds and their divine duties? Now let's consider that something more profound happened that day. Perhaps simply severing the Connection would not be enough, or perhaps BAM could not be imprisoned in her current state. The Heralds' divine duty was to imprison the Fused on Braize. If Melishi was able to replace BAM's Connection with the Heralds, it is possible that the Singers' Cognitive aspect was trapped in the Cognitive Realm. On the other hand, Voidlight may have partially corrupted the Heralds' Cognitive aspect, resulting in the madness that leads them to take up the opposite of their attributes. Ishar had placed constraints upon the Nahel bond when the orders were formed, and it is likely that he did this by creating a Connection between the Heralds and the spren. Prior to the Recreance, it seems that if an oath was broken, the spren returned to the Cognitive realm. Since the Recreance, spren seem to be split between realms, where their Cognitive aspect is trapped as a blade (hence the screaming) and their physical aspect is sent to the Cognitive realm as a deadeye. It is not clear to me if the Connection between Heralds and spren was simply broken (which seems unlikely), or if it was transferred to BAM. If it was transferred to BAM, her imprisonment might have significant effects on the Nahel bond. This could explain the Recreance, since Ishar forced constraints upon the Nahel bond in order to avoid a repeat of what happened to Ashyn. If this control was severed, then it could have scared the spren and Radiants into abandoning their Oaths. Additionally, this could have been the reason Urithiru shut down, as Honor's waning tone was obstructed by his Connection to BAM instead of the Heralds. I still feel like there is one component missing here. None of this quite seems like damage to the "soul of Roshar". Ideas, anyone?
  17. I wasn't saying turn aluminum into something else. I was saying to use a Soulcaster to MAKE aluminum.
  18. Can't a Soulcaster create aluminum?
  19. So basically Odium is King George?
  20. Keteks of Words Kings of Waning Truth Kelsier on Wisdom
  21. I seem to remember somewhere it was mentioned that the most powerful Fused had not yet returned to Roshar, so that could be part of it.
  22. Two words: Defense Attorney
  23. I agree with you, but they are also a cognitive concept.
  24. Perhaps Whimsy's magic is very powerful, but there is almost a RNG aspect to it where there is a chance Whimsy decides that it won't work x% of the time. Or perhaps people become transiently Invested by Whimsy at random moments.
  25. To the identity of the Unmade: 1. There are 9 Unmade, and 9 orders of Fused. 2. Raboniel was trying to Unmake the Sibling. 3. Fused are able to access Rosharan Surges, and seem to have been able to do so for a long time. 4. Spren have not bonded with the Singers for millenia. 5. There must be a pathway for the Fused to access the Surges. 6. Surges are a concept, a way of understanding the actions of Investiture. 7. Spren are expressions of concepts. 8. Red is the color of corrupted Investiture. My theory: the Unmade are the corrupted spren of each Surge the Fused have access to. This Corruption allows the Fused to access that Surge. Corrupting the Sibling may have allowed the development of a 10th Order of Fused.
