  1. Heh. If the cute Expensive Whiskey cooking scene is going to wound you, I may just have a case of writing-inspired manslaughter on my hands. I mean, Scene 16 made Joe cry apparently. ...Whoops.
  2. And #33 is up! And in case anyone hasn't heard about it yet, there's also a Scrounger ask blog now, so if you've got any questions for the characters or the players, hit us up! You don't need a tumblr account to submit!
  3. *looks up to the heavens* Thank you, Harmony for this beautiful day. *looks back to Eveorjoy with a terrifying grin* (Look, someone made me a gif.) So, for those of you who have been listening to these, you might realize I talk about Sydney Scrougners all the time. All the time. At it's most basic: Sydney Scroungers is a story that I write with a group of five other people and it's amazing and I'm obsessed with it and never shut up and devote LOTS of time and effort into convincing everyone that they should read the story. More specifically, it's an RP group, using the FATE Core system, set in the Pacific Rim universe a few years before the movie takes place. The genre's pretty different from PR though. More of a Leverage-meets-Firefly-style group of five criminals and mischief-makers running heists and undercover jobs in the area around the Sydney Shatterdome circa 2021. I play three characters, Sylvie Mansen, an AI programmer on the run from the PPDC after she well, broke into a Jaeger and then almost destroyed it, as well as her two AIs, fiVe and Vee. You'll hear me talking about the other characters in Splintercast too: Miranda, Katie, Seiko, and Eleanor. If that sounds interesting (and you should be interested because it REALLY is fanastic) there's two places you can check it out: on my tumblr, which is probably the most complete place, but might be a little difficult to navigate, or over on Archive of Our Own, which is a bit more reader-friendly. If you end up checking it out, you should DEFINITELY send me a message, and you will also probably become one of my favorite people ever.
  4. The way this scene worked was that we had gotten through most of Session #33 (which is now going through final edits and should be up soon) and then realized that we hadn't talked about what happened with Sherman at all. So, we decided add a scene to the end of #32, this one. So, it was written slightly anachronistically, but hey, that happens sometimes. Gavin did play both Zhu and Sherman, and I chimed in with Vee occasionally to give those two someone to bounce off of. Don't worry too much! Pronouns can be tricky, so I'll try to help out! Quick pronoun crash-course in the spoiler tags: It is slightly epilogue-ish, though I think that title would best go to Session #33, which is all the talks and wrap-up and stuff. And yes. Zhu continues to be amazing. Yeah, Sherman's an interesting person, and I have a feeling he'll probably show up again. This Yegorov plot is far from over. I'm kinda hoping he ends up running into Sylvie whenever he comes back and realizing he's not the only PPDC criminal that Zhu's putting to work, ha!
  5. ...Feather has been having a very busy work week and will attempt to get some more ready to upload by Friday evening? She also conveys her deepest apologies. Heh.
  6. The final scene has now been added to Session #32, so it is finally complete! It would have been scene 13, but I fixed the messed up numbers, so it's now scene 12! Session #33 is a super longone, but I've been keeping up with the editing on it, and it's almost finished so hopefully I'll have that one for you soon!
  7. There was much screeching. Of that you may be assured!
  8. ...Weiry, I don't think other people like the villians the way that I like villians. Oops.
  9. @Delightful: If my crazed wailings made someone love Renarin more, then it was all worth it. @Weiry: I CAN'T HANDLE THESE TWO DORKS. UGH. Kaladin why did you have to be so kind and understanding towards him? Whyyyyyyy? ...and no one is talking about the reaction to Mraize... maybe they didn't hear it... maybe I am safe in my terrible taste in villians...
  10. Wow, I de-lurked Shroom with this one. That's an accomplishment. Glad my embarassment and pain amuses my mortal enemy.
  11. I have no idea what you are talking about, Eric. These are completely sane and calm reactions to a work of fiction. I am not overly invested and or insane. No not at all. Definitely not.
  12. I... wasn't expecting you to stop right before 41. THAT'LL be fun to come back to. I.... need to edit more now, dangit.
  13. Yeppppppp. Everything I say is apparently hilarious in hindsight.
  14. You didn't even listen to them. I am so offended. (Not really, haha. We really did need to get these up!.)
  15. Hey, I'm all the way edited through Ch. 41. (The Feather-infamous Ch. 41.) And I'm probably going to do more tonight, so he'll be even MORE behind. However, I will also continually poke him on Skype and make him do things. (He says he'll upload the next 3 later tonight, btw.)
  16. *coughs* For those keeping up with Splintercast, you might have heard me talk about "my" Eshonai, versus the canon Eshonai. And why I get upset when people use the wrong pronouns and misgender canon Eshonai. Because both of them are super awesome. (This would be "my" Eshonai over here. She is wonderful. Everyone say hi.) For those looking for a good blanket term for these kinds of identities, GRSM is a pretty good one. (Gender, Romantic, and Sexual Minorities.) Many people within these communities use the word "queer" as a catch-all term as well, but you want to be careful with that one because it has often been used as a slur, and you want to make sure that the people you're talking to are okay with you using it.
  17. Hey, this one's on him! He's got the next seven chapters to post! I have been being good and editing!
  18. Right, we get the sense that Stormlight certainly varies between individuals. Lopen started to regrow his arm when exposed to Stormlight, but Kaladin couldn't heal his scars. It's very, very much a personal perception issue, and as Esh said, levels of dysphoria vary from person to person, and even within people from day to day.
  19. (Also I totally mispronounced Seiko's last name DANGIT. It's spelled Watanabe, but it's pronounced "wa-TAN-a-bey" not "wa-ta-NAH-bey" the way I said it.)
  20. The topic is not off-limits so long as it is both relevant -- which yes, this is a discussion of transgender people in the cosmere -- and so long as the discussion stays civil and composed, which thus far, it has. I mean, we have transgender members of the fandom. Are we going to forbid them to talk about their lives and their experiences? Forbidding topics like this would be a very dangerous precident to set, if we say that only "normal" topics are allowed, then we immediately say that our transgender members are not normal, and are "too strange" to be talked about. We don't want to do that to them. In fact, we want them to feel welcome! I think topics like this, where people are being understanding, there's a chance for learning. People are being exposed to new points of view and things that they haven't thought about before, and as they are learning more about this kind of topic, the forums become a more understanding and inclusive place! I'd say we want more topics like this, because this one's been doing pretty well thus far. I'm wondering who told you these topics are off limits. You're pretty new around here, aren't you?
  21. See, I caught that he said "investiture" but I didn't realize I was supposed to figure it out. My reaction to foreshadowy things is "Wow that's probably foreshadowing, I'm sure there will be a reveal later, so I'm not gonna think about it right now because figuring it out would take time and would be work." So I say things like "there are a lot of mysteries here" and I thought we were going to have a big reveal in the book. I'm not any good at these things that I'm supposed to piece together on my own without a big reveal. See: it took me 3 readthroughs to realize Shallan had a shardblade. orz
  22. Hehehe, I've been squeeing over how adorable baby Renarin is for pretty much this whole week! And Silver's colors are goooooorgeous too. I love the almost watercolor quality she gives them all. I know Megan posted video of Brandon's reaction to the book, and it's pretty awesome. I'm not sure if you found the chicken picture, Delightful, but that one was drawn by Ellie (about whom I continue to be unable to shut up.) Here, have a chicken. Also Argent, thank for reminding everyone that Renarin rushes out into danger multiple times during the books to try to save his family members because that is a thing that everyone should always remember and no one should ever forget because Renarin is brave and wonderful and courageous and... *is smothered before she can continue rambling*
  23. Shuuuuuuush I'm not good at picking up hints! WE HAVE ESTABLISHED THIS. I barely remembered that he was the swordmaster, and that was a direct relationship with Renarin, so I REALLY should have remembered it. Oops. I didn't realize it was Vasher with lifesense. I think I thought he had spren-sense, actually...
  24. Yeeeep. Renarin joins Bridge 4. It's probably my absolute favorite chapter.
  25. The finished product of WMC? was amaaaazing! I swear, Maki, you're the most amazing person ever!
