The Splintercast Reads Words of Radiance, Episode 28: Book Wrap-up
FeatherWriter commented on Chaos's article in Shardcast
You know, I just made a minor edit to the Coppermind and on a whim checked the recent edits only to see "No one tell feather" in the liner notes. WEIRY UR GIVIN AWAY ALL MY SECRETS. That said, I should probably take a picture of that signed book so you can have a proper citation for it, shouldn't I?- 21 comments

Okay, I know this doesn't even sound like me, but if we're talking about cute interactions with Hoid, we should definitely put Renarin in there. "Those who ‘deserve’ my mockery are those who can benefit from it, Brightlord Dalinar. That one is less fragile than you think him”?? "Nothing ridiculous"?? Renarin and Hoid cutes are the best cutes.

Mid-Range Game 1: The Stormfather and The Nightwatcher
FeatherWriter replied to Rubix's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Yeah, I would agree that if the three faction game were to be viable, the 17S would probably be a good thing to remove. I like the idea of spies, but the fact that they could win on their own as a faction made things very tricky. I remember thinking from the very beginning that if I were 17S, that's where my loyalty would be. And so even when Sharders started coming forward as loyal to the merchants, I was tempted to try to take them out. I figured the best way for a faction to win would have been to cleanse themselves of all Sharders before moving on. Edit: I think that the killing a loyal faction member is a good curse in order to kill a different member, but the problem was the double loyalty 17S thing. In this case the divided loyalty, as Claincy said, made it just a double kill.- 384 replies

Curses, I knew I should have prayed to join the 17S instead of the Darkeyes... And turns out the one time I don't use my ardent power to protect myself is the night I die, sigh. Held out to the very end though!- 384 replies

Shroom is a groos kerj who needs to learn how to shuddum and I ahte his stupid kerjish fcae. That's my statement on the matter. Any smut written which involves me would be both A.) extrodinarily creepy and B.) destroyed with fire immediately. Please do not write smut about me and anyone. DO NOT DO THE THING. And dearest kismesis, for your information, I did yell at you, Shroom. Quite a lot, actually. It's not my fault that you're too far away to hear it in Australia. -
Hmm, I can try to keep it in mind, but it's odd that they weren't loud enough. I used Audacity's amplify feature to bump up the volume as much as I could without the sound cutting out... hmm. I'm glad everyone's been enjoying these though!

*cackles* I've told a few people. But yes, this one I've been saving until the very end. Also, I still like that my first reaction to the Nightblood thing was to run to Eric and be like "I really hope Vasher's not dead!" only to have him laugh at me and say "Oh, you didn't see Vasher in WoR?" And then he explained the Zahel thing and I felt like a dumb.- 22 comments

Mid-Range Game 1: The Stormfather and The Nightwatcher
FeatherWriter replied to Rubix's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Lyla watched the proceedings quietly, unsure of what to do. Most of her allies were dead and she was feeling horribly outnumbered now in this increasingly hostile city. She didn't know what to do. She just wanted to stay alive. It was an inspiring speech and she had a feeling this group was going to need to work together if they wanted to survive. "This Sarmas was a spy at some of our meetings. but he's since been scared away. I believe he's one of these otherworldly agents. If we're looking for a target to protect the city from, he seems like a good pick to me." Clanal, that speech was excellent, and I wish I had caught more of the references in it. I see some Henry V and Pacific Rim in there...- 384 replies

*appears behind Shroom and slices through him at the stalk* You know, when Kogi said she was too afraid of my cult to come in here and speak misinformation at them, I didn't think she would enlist the help of my sworn enemy to carry it for her. Rest assured dear followers, both of the perpetrators have been swiftly dealt with. Aka, I yelled at Shroom and Kogi has been punched in the shoulder. -

I would like to tell you all a lovely story entitled "Feather is a dork who forgot about all of the things she meant to ask Brandon and therefore didn't." I think I managed to get some friends to ask later on in the signings, and they said that someone took care of him, but I don't think we got many details. I did get some interesting info at the signing though, which will be revealed in the 1 hour sum up.- 22 comments

Oh, Chapter 89. My dear sweet darling... the moment when I realized what all you had gone through in this book and I was so emotionally strung out already that it just snapped what little self control I had. I really needed to hug Renarin while reading this. And there's a reason that I tend to go for the throat on people who don't appreciate what Renarin went through this book like light above he is so strong and your faves could never and aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaurg RENARIN NEEDS TO BE APPRECIATED AT ALL COSTS. *starts crying again* ...I told myself I wasn't allowed to listen to these again, dangit. Here we are. I have since re-taken it up again, thanks to the wonders of Kogiopsis. That explanation is in the comment on the last Splintercast though. Remember these are a few months old.- 22 comments

The Splintercast Reads Words of Radiance, Episode 26: Chapters 85-87
FeatherWriter commented on Chaos's article in Shardcast
I'm saddened to hear that this is somewhat driving people away from shipping, since shipping is so much of how I appreciate a work. No risk, no reward I guess. Yeah, you could get torn up by a pairing but it's so amazing while you're working with it and the friends you make during it all, and in the event that your pairing does or doesn't become canon, well, it's worth the celebration or heartbreak on the other side. And for those who have been tracking me saying "I had some friends who helped me through it..." Well, Kogi was one of those friends and she wrote me lovely fic even though Shallarin isn't her ship because she knew I was upset and now I'm getting sappy because my friends are so wonderful and nice to me and she's sitting right beside me so I think I'm probably going to hug her. Yep. Definitely doing that right now. (If you'd like to see/read my reaction to that fic, it's over here and it's both very personal to me and very close to my heart: http://renarinkholin.tumblr.com/post/82794324050/kogiopsis-so-i-wrote-a-thing-for-feather )- 12 comments

Did someone say Agents of SHIELD characters on Roshar? Hello friends, I am here. I mean... I haven't extensively plotted that or anything. I've also got another one of these with the rest of the MCU people floating about, but Quiver specifically mentioned AoS, so. Someone needs to stop me from making Stormlight AUs pls. -

Oh look at me NOT CHECKING SPLINTERCAST WHILE THE BEST ONES ARE BEING UPLOADED. *blames Eric for not notifying me* You guys are so nice to me... Yeah, it was a very trying scene to get through and it ended up messing me up pretty badly. Worse than even I was realizing at this point. Thankfully I have friends who helped me through it and all of you being so nice to me about it. *lays down and cries about Shallarin some* It still hurts...- 18 comments

Mid-Range Game 1: The Stormfather and The Nightwatcher
FeatherWriter replied to Rubix's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Huddled in her now nearly empty room, Lyla shivered. She'd barely had time to go retrieve her hidden satchel before that horrible storm had overtaken the city. A storm that had blown from the wrong direction. Nothing in this city made sense anymore, and she wondered how much longer she was going to last. Factions floundering, some new force with strange powers wreaking havoc amongst us... Almighty's tenth name, what is happening here? Slowly, with the city waking back up once more in the aftermath of that strangeness, she pushed herself to her feet. The backwards winds had caused quite a bit of damage, but seeing as half the city was torn apart anyway, she wasn't sure whether the storm truly made things worse or not. She'd dragged the body of the assassin outside before taking shelter. She'd be surprised if it was still there after that storm. Slinging her satchel over her shoulders, she gritted her teeth. Her copy of Pai's originals and her latest journal were the only documents she had left, and that was only because she'd been carrying them with her. All her sketchbooks and reports on the events of the city had been taken, and her spanreeds as well. The cost of replacing even the supplies alone was more than she could comprehend. But the loss of information... Only one thing to do. Get it all back. Satchel secure, notebooks protected, cloak on, and hood up, Lyla stepped out into the city once more, determined to make things right at any cost. Looks like we're managing to hit the 17S, but our work's not quite done yet. The dead seem to be confirming two more. What's the plan everyone?- 384 replies

Mid-Range Game 1: The Stormfather and The Nightwatcher
FeatherWriter replied to Rubix's topic in Sanderson Elimination
As you can see, my powers of perception are top notch. So good at paying attention to who's alive and who isn't. The bestest. Curses, it would have been nice to have another person we thought we could trust. I'll just have to RP him dying apparently because retcons are for squares and I refuse to retcon. Alvron, if you're reading this from beyond the grave, it was an excellent RP exchange. *salutes* Before the man could respond to her all-but-spat words, he stiffened suddenly, knife slipping free from his fingers. Lyla's eyes widened, and she hastily shoved him off of her. Pushin herself away from him, she watched as the assasin slumped to the floor and stilled. She watched for a few moments, but he did not rise. Finally, she carefully crawled back over to him, pressing her finger to his neck. No pulse. Thoroughly unsettled, she glanced around, wishing she knew what was going on. What had killed him? Had he been attacked? Internal wounds from the fall? Poison? She couldn't have possibly gotten lucky enough that he'd suffered something like a heart attack, could she have? Shivering, she pulled her legs up against her chest and simply sat in her empty, ransacked room, wishing she knew what was going on in this city.- 384 replies

Mid-Range Game 1: The Stormfather and The Nightwatcher
FeatherWriter replied to Rubix's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Lyla was still trying to catch her breath as another shadow pulled itself through her window and walked across the floor to her. He was breathing heavily and seemed slightly battered from his trip out the window, but not enough to slow him down. No, no, no! Not now, not right now! Desperately she scrabbled for her sword, only to receive a kick to her already wounded wrist. She cried out in pain as the blade clattered away, more tears welling up in her eyes. The assassin leaned down, perfectly calm, and drew his knife. Using the last of her strength to take hold of his wrist, she glared up at him. She highly doubted she was actually strong enough right now to impede him, but he stopped, apparently unconcerned with her feeble attempts to fight back. "It's you," she growled, coughing slightly. "Not the stonethrower. You're the one who did this. You were waiting for me. Aesudan's pet, I would assume? You'd really kill an innocent scholar in cold blood? What in the tenth name of the Almighty have you done with my work?" So Alv, looks like the dead think we're both trustworthy. I'm sure Lyla and Rolav will make great allies. They're super friendly with one another, right? I don't know about the other two factions, but 17S got vocal in our doc last round. If the dead tell me we're being played, I'm inclined to believe them.- 384 replies

Mid-Range Game 1: The Stormfather and The Nightwatcher
FeatherWriter replied to Rubix's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Lyla made an attempt to push herself up, but fell back to the floor with a gasping breath. Her entire body trembled, but not out of fear this time. Rather, when she looked up again, there were tears in her eyes, and she shook with choked back sobs. It wasn't the pain, though her wrist and ribs burned from the rough treatment. No, these were tears of frustrated helplessnes. Of futility. Of losing everything. "Damnation take you," she managed to gasp out, before losing a battle with a fit of coughs. When she managed to find her words again, her voice was hoarse. "Those journals were my life's work, you cremling. You have no idea how invaluable those documents were. I won't stop until I find them. I won't. Aesudan can send all the thugs and assassins she wants after me. She doesn't frighten me. The world will know what's happening here, even if I have to write the account of it with my blood!"- 384 replies

Mid-Range Game 1: The Stormfather and The Nightwatcher
FeatherWriter replied to Rubix's topic in Sanderson Elimination
(Small note of consistency, Lyla was sneaking into the room quietly, hoping she could get the drop on whoever was waiting within. She's not really one to go barging into places if there might people there.) Before the strange assailant could escape again, Lyla grabbed him by the shirt, yanking him back into the room. In one smooth motion, she pushed him up against the wall next to the window, bringing her sword up to his throat. Her midriff stung from where his rock had hit her, but at least he hadn't sent her toppling to the ground the way he had with the other man. As she pressed the flat of the blade up under his chin, she glared at him, mustering every bit of righteous anger she had. "You have five heartbeats to tell me who you are, why you're in my room, and most importantly where you've taken all of my things. Speak quickly, or I might just decide to cut a nice hole to help you get some more air to your lungs. Where. Is. My. Work."- 384 replies

Mid-Range Game 1: The Stormfather and The Nightwatcher
FeatherWriter replied to Rubix's topic in Sanderson Elimination
He didn't have long too long to wait. Lyla let out a wearied sigh as she entered her building, resting against the doorframe in the hallway for a moment. Things were starting to look very bad in this city, but she wasn't dead yet. After her meeting, she'd managed to sneak back into the People's Hall and do a few context sketches in her notebook containing Pai's documents. Truly, the folio was becoming a rather valuable piece, the more information and accuracy she was able to add to it. Of course, it's value is meaningless if no one is ever able to read it. Again, she thought of fleeing the city, but shook her head. I'm getting so much information. I cannot leave yet. The spanreeds with have to suffice for now. She promised herself she would survive these riots and see her originals safely to Kholinar. She refused to let these riots stop her. As she rested however, she noticed something fluttering in the corner. Hesitantly, she walked over to it and picked it up. A piece of paper with writing on it. More specifically, her writing on it. It was her spanreed conversation from this morning. For a moment, she stared in confusion. How had it gotten out here? It should have been safely tucked away with her things back in her locked ro... Lyla felt a cold chill as she snapped alert, freehand moving to her sword. She cast a wary glance upstairs, wishing she were able to see her room's doorway from where she stood. Then again, if she'd had a clear line of sight, they might have been able to see her as well. Whoever they were. If there was someone up there in the first place. It was possible she was jumping at shadows again, but if someone had been going through her things, caution was key. As silently as she could, she backed out of the building, not turning away from the staircase until her feet hit the broken cobbles outside. She'd hide her satchel first before going up, just in case. She could stash the notebooks she was carrying with her someone nearby and retrieve them after she'd assessed that there was no danger. Almighty send that there's no danger, at least. Only a few minutes later, she returned to the building, one satchel lighter, and fairly sure that her notebooks would be secure where she'd hidden them. Perhaps someone someday might find the folio with her work on Pai's denunciation if she wasn't able to return for them. She suppressed a shudder at that thought. Drawing her sword, she crept up the stairs as silently as possible, careful not to let the floorboards squeak. When she turned reached the corner to her hallway, she pressed her back against the wall and peered around it. Sure enough, her door was ajar, the chain on her lock broken. Damnation. This can't be happening right now! How much of my work have I lost? Feeling a protective anger rise within her, mixing with her fear, she made her way to the door and slowly pushed it open wide enough to slip inside. sword in hand and ready to face whatever was waiting within.- 384 replies
