  1. This brings up a good question... does the size of the spike matter? some examples that suggest not: Vin's Earring Spook's Spike The other "stealth spikes" similar to spooks Kandra Spikes Koloss Spikes So if size doesn't matter.... why the oversize spikes for the inquisitors? I can see where the eyespikes would be a useful intimidation, but what about the rest of them? Would it be possible for TLR to make a "stealth inquisitor" using tiny spikes, that are fully embedded (ie pierce the back of the eye and the brain) such that they could then wrap their face (similar to what spook did) and present themselves as blind?
  2. @darniil Wow.... good questions.... +1
  3. For those of you who haven't found it yet, Peter has been posting Mythwalker chapters up in the Warbreaker Deleted scenes section. http://www.brandonsanderson.com/library/catalog/Warbreaker_Deleted-Scenes It currently runs from prologue to chapter 9. Really looking forward to reading more of this. I have enjoyed the concepts of this book, and hope that even if BS does not reincorporate this magic system into the cosmere, he will write more on it. @Peter: What is your timeframe for working on this project? Are you trying to do a couple chapters a week? Is there anything we can do to help?
  4. As for why Marsh..... Marsh was a seeker, add a spike to increase that and you can pierce copperclouds. If you can pierce copperclouds you can find the "rouge" mistborn and mistlings. If you find and capture them then you can steal power from them as opposed to someone who could be missed. <segue> actually, I am a little surprised that TLR had half-bloods killed at birth. I could understand why if the magic system was like Mythwalker, and power is shared along family lines, but its not. It kind of makes more sense to have the halfbloods turned over to the steel ministry... Those with power, sacrificed to add power to the steel ministry. Those without, executed, because they would still have the genetic memory, and could pass it to their offspring. </segue>
  5. @pv3Hpv3p: damnation you. Now you have me thinking of a stormlight MMO. you suck. rating you up
  6. I just finished White Sands, and will start Aether of Night today, are there discussions for those that have read them? @Peter - part of the email BS sent out asks not to share these w/o his permission. Does this apply to family members living in the same house? My teenager is acting like her world is going to end if I don't let her read them.
  7. <logic> Anyone can burn Lerasium. Think about it, it makes you a mistborn. you go from nothing to all 16. The original 10 had NO alomancy, and were granted it by lerasium. </logic>
  8. The "new" elantrians would not have had to learn it totally by trial and error, remember that elantris (the city) was covered in Aons. So they would not have had to figure out the symbols, just the meanings and modifiers.
  9. I don't believe copyright laws apply to my idea. I would not be serving up content from the books (which would be a copyright infringement), just references (chapter, paragraph and page numbers for the books) the reason chapter, paragraph and page # would be for those that are using a different version of the book, page 43 in the hardback might be 47 in the paperback.... for example, you searched for Ghostblood, it would return: Book, Way of Kings, Chapter 03, paragraph 2, page 50 Annotation, The Way of Kings, Chapter 3, url=www.xyz.com Book, Way of Kings, Chapter 03, paragraph 3, page 51 Book, Way of Kings, Chapter 05, paragraph 1, page 72 Book, Way of Kings, Chapter 08, paragraph 6, page 83 Book, Way of Kings, Chapter 12, paragraph 7, page 150 Annotation, The Way of Kings, Chapter 12, url=www.xyz.com Book, Way of Kings, Chapter 15, paragraph 3, page 203 Book, Highprince of War, Chapter X, paragraph Y, page Z Book, Highprince of War, Chapter X, paragraph Y, page Z Book, Highprince of War, Chapter 13, paragraph Y, page Z Annotation, Highprince of War, Chapter 13, url=www.xyz.com Book, Highprince of War, Chapter X, paragraph Y, page Z .... Interview, GoodReads 01/01/2011, url=www.xyz.org <quote> question ....... answer ......... </quote> Interview, TWG 05/01/2011, url=www.xyz.org <quote> BS decided to talk about ghostbloods </quote> You get the idea....
  10. From: http://www.brandonsanderson.com/library/48/Elantris-Alternate-Ending-Material and again from the same source:
  11. and a follow up, after Elantris is restored, the Seons still have not been "fixed" to the best of my knowledge.
  12. Since this is related, wanted to link it in. and also on "evil seons" and seon / skaze being "related" to Shards.
  13. Thanks for the correction, I'll rate you up if I can it would not "negate the possibility of Aona...." in my opinion. The aons (as a system of magic) would already exist. The splinters of Aona would then find form in something already familiar to them.
  14. <Theory> The Seons continued to work correctly until the person they were tied to became Elantrian. We believe the post-reod Elantris was a faulty spell, basically a twisted intent. if the Reod-Elantrian's had destroyed the city they would have completed their transition into Elantrians, with less power than the pre-reod-elantrians. the Aeons continued to function correctly because they are splinters of Aona, and as long as the Aon inside them was not faulty (it could be wrong (ie: ineffective), but not faulty. They stopped working correctly when the person the were bonded to became post-Reod-elantrian because the person they were bonded to was a conduit for the faulty-spell to affect them. Pre-Reod spells could have 2 outcomes during the Reod, wrong, which means they did nothing, and faulty, which means they were a twisted spell, similar to the healing analogy referenced in elantris. </theory>
  15. On the Odium issue, it might not have been intentional. Odium SHATTERED Skai. We have no clue what the effect would be on people when a shard they are associated with is shattered. Think of how much trouble 1 altered Aon had on the Elantrians. Now imagine what could have happened if you were an Elantrian when Skai was Shattered. possibly a backlash of power?
  16. BTW if anyone wants to see some cool shuttle pics you can goto http://www.catalyst21.net/photo.aspx The photos are from the launch of STS-134. The website (and presentation of the photos) suck, I thew is up (almost literally) in about 15 minutes., and never went back and updated it. On day maybe I'll have time....
  17. Yes, but is there a easy way for us to search the books? I have seen in the forums repeatedly that someone will post a theory, but that supporting documentation will have to wait till they have time to find it. as for your giant robot.... robots are expensive.... I have a < 2 foot diameter robot that stands 8 inches tall.... I have over $1200 in components.... let me know when you win the lottery and we'll discuss a giant robot. On the other hand, if you want a small robot, then lets get started!
  18. Hail fellow members of the gentry! I am Catalyst21, longtime reader of BS, found him through Patrick Rothfruss. Avid SF/fantasy/mystery/horror reader. I am 31 years old, former computer engineer for the space shuttle, currently a computer programmer. Father of 3 beautiful girls, ages 6-16. Hobbies include computers, robotics, home automation, sound systems (professional, as in sound engineer).... pretty much anything technology related. I am located in central Florida. On a side note: I have been considering for awhile creating a website that has all BS's works, notations and Interviews on it (in a backend, not publicly accessible) with a public facing look-up. Say for example you search GhostBloods, it would tell you which of the above works talk about it, what page and chapter it is in (for the books), and if a notation or interview references it, then a link to the respective source. And as more information is added (and verified), add tags into the books, such as [Dula], [Elantrian] and [Galladon] where he appears in the purelake section of WoK. Also add a cross-reference table to associate terms such as Dula and Galladon. Basically a Google for all things BS. What do ya'll think? Catalyst21
  19. Also can you go back and make it public after the release of the actual book? I'm sure a lot of it would be re-discussed after the books release. Thank you
  20. I don't believe Sazed can hold any more shards. Think about this, Sazed, the only known holder of multiple shards (Ruin and Preservation), took possession of both of them at the same time. Odium, who has killed other shards (Aona and Skai), shattered the shards instead of taking control of them himself. If there is to be one holder of all the shards, it is my impression that they would have to take all of them at the same time, based on the above.
  21. I am interested
