  12. [rebuttal] your logic is flawed. In TWOK it says that plateaus are bought and sold between highprinces. If you "own" a plateau then you are responsible for the upkeep of any permanent and scouts on that plateau. If a plateau is owned by another highprince you can't use it without their permission. So your argument about why pay for it if your neighbor will benefit from it is flawed. [/rebuttal] another argument I believe to be flawed in this discussion is that the increased cost of soulcasting the bridges is negligible because they are already soulcasting the wood for the bridges, just soulcast the stone instead. You *CAN'T* soulcast a bridge. What you can do is build a bridge and then soulcast that to stone. think about it. The only thing we have seen soulcast from air is buildings. Buildings in simple shapes. Anything more complex was carved then soulcast into (metal, marble) stone. So to soulcast bridges you would have to soulcast wood (or get it by other means), build the bridge, then soulcast it to stone. Which results in a net increase of 1 (or potentially more) soulcastings.

That was done in book 3 (Chapter Thirty-Seven) by the koloss, they would take the spikes from dead koloss and reuse them to make new koloss. Granted their spikes did not to grant Allo/Fero power, but to create new koloss, through imbuing them with more (and twisted) power of preservation.
  15. I disagree, if i remember correctly, Shallan had the thought that she didn't even think to summon her shardblade during that attack. To me this indicates that she has not had the blade long enough (or used it enough)to become used to it. Take what I said above, and add in the following scenes: the scene where she calls the shardblade "the fruit of her sin" the image of her father lying facedown on the floor, dead, surrounded by blood the fact that the fabrial was found in his breast pocket, sheared in (3?) places the scenes with her disabled brother and I emerge with a picture something like this: [Cat's vision of how it happened] Shallan's father is abusing her brother (possibly trying to kill him in a blind rage?) when Shallen walks in, grabs a sword off the wall, or a knife off the table, (or something to that effect) and rushing to her brothers defense. By this time the brother is unconscious, the father turns around as Shallen screams and he is killed (possibly on accident) by Shallen. In addition to killing her father, the fabrial is "sheared" at the same time. The father falls face down and his shardblade appears beside him, Shallan picks it up, bonding it. She hears her brothers coming and drops the blade, causing it to dissipate. Thus the brothers don't know about the blade. [/vision]

[logic] My answer for that would be yes, you could make a spike from them for any naturally occurring power they had. However, you could not use a spike to steal a power they had from a spike, its not theirs power, it is the spikes. If you wanted to do that you'd just steal the spike. [/logic]
  18. That is a good point. We do know that they retain their existing power when they marry (Comments made about how lesser house Dass's female power is much sought after in marriage.) So we can rule out adoption into the new house / unadoption from the old. The only solution I see would be that they do retain their house. Not sure. @peter, can you clarify this either here or in a upcoming annotation?
  19. the above quote can be found at the end of chapter 16 (page 248 in my paperback).
