From my reading, men and women of the same house have different powers, boys inherit the fathers power, girls the mothers.

I could get behind this as well

Fundamental Misunderstanding - Preservation & Ruin
Catalyst21 replied to Triumvirate's topic in Mistborn
I believe this is incorrect. I believe that it said preservation wanted to put in a little more and ruin was ok with it because eventually it would let ruin overcome preservation. Could be wrong though. -

ok, so I never got involved in Pat's book's like I have with Brandon's. I've never trolled forums, looking for clues, and espousing ideas. Other than religiously reading Pat's blog (and highly recommending his books to anyone who will listen) I have had no interaction with his works other than his books, which I have read numerous times. This post officially changes that. For Kvothes mother, I fully agree that she is Natalia Lackless, and there are some other clues that point to that that haven't been brought up here, but that's not what I want to talk about. I want to talk about the king that Kvothe kills. I want to postulate that the king Kvothe kills is....... Ambrose. Think about it, when Kvothe first meets Ambrose, Ambrose is about 24 positions away from the throne. By the end of book 2 he is about 14 positions away. I think that the king Kvothe kills with such fury that it shattered the flagstones such that they can't be repaired is Ambrose. Thoughts? Comments?

I don't expect him to wrap it up in one more book, and have never expected it to be done in 3 books. Lets look at the name of the books: The Kingkiller Chronicles, Day 1, Name of the wind The Kingkiller Chronicles, Day 2, Wise Mans Fear The Kingkiller Chronicles, Day 3, Doors of Stone In day 1 Kvothe says it will take 3 days to tell his story. I can see that happening. I still believe that Pat can wrap that up by the end of Day 3. But that only brings the story up to the "present" time. There will still be the rest of the story, which I figure (read: hope) will be another trilogy. The first trilogy is the backstory. Just my opinion...

What technology is the site and the forum based on, DNN?

Shouldn't be that bad, (and I like {ref} better, thanks) just create a control that inherits from quote, define your overloads and wha-la! as for the metadata, you can handle it the by putting it in the title bar, same as quote. even the url shouldn't be that bad, because you already have the ability to have a reference to a post.

a couple things to add to this conversation. 1. Shallen was able to do her drawing trick before she met the "truthspren" (I also believe there is more to it then just drawing, she just doesn't understand it yet. She does say something to the effect that she feels like she is collecting a piece of thier soul) {back on track} 2. With Kaladin I got the implication that he was affected by the highstorms even as a child.... I will edit in the exact quote later if needed, but it was something to the effect of: The was sitting on the roof during the period of weepings, He always hated the weepings, he felt drained. Which to me implied he was drawing power from the storms even before Syl 3. zas678 that is a fallacy, you are trying to apply the ideal of the wrong order of radiant's there are 41 ideals. the first is common to all 10 orders. the last 4 are unique to each order. (I will also try and find the quote for this, it is when Kaladin and (the bridge 4 guy that knows about radients) are talking either in the chasm (high probability) or between the barracks when kal sticks the bag to the barrel (lower probability)) The first (common) ideal is (something like): "Life before death, journey before destination." Windrunners 2nd ideal is (something like): "I will protect those that can't protect themselves" as we learn more about the ideals we will learn what attracts the Nahel Bonging spren, and what they are (honorspren, truthspren...)

I'll see if I can find a quote tonight.

see if you can get him to personalize your cards with relevant cosmere clues. Kinda tie the cosmere into MTG.
-
Is there a possibility of getting a 2nd kind of quote? lets call it directquote. Just something so we can differentiate when we are replying to something vs when we are quoting something. maybe something like: {directquote title='Way of Kings' location='p457' url=''} {/directquote} or {directquote title='Interview with Brandon' location='Barnes and Nobel - Atlanta, Ga' url='www.interviewhostedhere.com'} {/directquote} depending on what technology the forum uses, I would be willing to assist programming this.
