  1. This is false. Sociopaths and Psychopaths have trouble discerning between right and wrong, or find it impossible. The difference between the two is that psychopaths can't form emotional connections to other people. They both still experience emotions. That being said, emotional allomancy would certainly have an effect on them, but it might have different effects than you would intend it to. Rioting, say, a psychopath's happiness might trigger different things than a 'normal' person, such as memories of killing someone. You would have to be very, very careful. Soothing would certainly be safer...
  2. Could you give me a link or title to help me find it? It certainly sounds interesting.
  3. I don't know, stealpushing and ironpulling present some opportunities... Especially with guns in our world. And I, for one, would use bronze quite a bit - I would want to know about any other allomancers. And as far as financial status, being a Mistborn would certainly allow one to gain quite a bit wealth, so I don't think that presents such a problem.
  4. Brought on by Arook asking about putting a Hemalurgic spike in Sazed (Harmony) and the response that you couldn't due to Hemalurgy requiring flowing blood, I came up with an interesting idea. What would happen if a Shard Holder created for themselves a flesh body (with flowing blood) and inserted a portion of their power (I doubt it could hold all of said SH's power) and a bit of their consciousness and used it as an Avatar to walk as a mortal on the surface of a Shardworld. Obviously, it would be a less-than-permanent situation. But it is an interesting thought that provides some extra possibilities for what could happen. It is the only way that I can think of for a Shard Holder to be spiked with Hemalurgy, seeing as they don't have actual bodies - or at least, not that we know from Harmony. Anyways, let me know what you think of this.
  5. Fair enough. I still can't say I agree with you though. While natc is right and Hemalurgy requires flowing blood, I don't know that that means Sazed (as Harmony) couldn't be spiked. We don't necessarily understand all of a Shard Holder's abilities and powers, but we do know that they have legitimately created life before. With this knowledge, couldn't it be possible for a Shard Holder to create a real, flesh body (with flowing blood) to contain a portion of their power as an avatar they could use to walk on the world as a semi-mortal being? It would create the possibility of spiking a Shard Holder. This gives me a knew idea for a theory...
  6. As for Nightblood being from Nalthis, he was, in part, created by Vasher. While Vasher is on another world now, that doesn't mean he could worldhop before. Also, your argument about locality and how he can function on Roshar works in reverse: If He's from Roshar, how can he function on Nalthis? Nightblood being longer than a normal blade is just that he was probably made from a longer than normal blade. He certainly doesn't have the proportions of a shardblade either. I have two arguments against the theory as well. 1. If Nightblood was a shardblade (as in a dead spren returned with a massive amount of breath) he should be able to access the surges and allow his user to use them. However, we never see any evidence of this. And Vasher certainly carried him for long enough to know. 2. If Nightblood were a shardblade, he should be extremely light. However, Nightblood is very heavy, as is mentioned on several occasions.
  7. I would have to agree. Brandon says Nightblood is a shardblade, but he doesn't say that Nightblood is a spren. It just means that he is a sword with a significant amount of investiture.
  8. I think it would be wrong to say that Hoid isn't good. After all, you even quoted him saying that he would weep if he had to destroy Roshar to accomplish his goals and you say that he will help other people as well. Also, In order to be prepared to destroy an entire world to "save" his friends (who are practically gods and whose only threats are other shardholders) he would have to be extremely mentally unhinged. A lot can be said about Hoid from what we know, but mentally unhinged isn't one of them.
  9. I doubt it necessarily has anything to do with the number sixteen. Yes, that is the number of shards Adonalsium shattered into and the number of possible Mistings, etc. However, Honor is splintered into the Spren, and there are only ten types of what I like to call Surgespren, the ones you can bond to be able to use surges. So I don't think sixteen has anything to do with it.
  10. Being an Elantrian doesn't just give Raoden the ability to use AonDor, it also makes him slightly faster (and presumably stronger). It actually says the he moves slightly faster than a normal human when he goes to Teod to save Sarene when he dodges an attack (not nearly as fast as Marsh, but still). Also, Aons are incredibly powerful. I think most people underestimate just how much power they have because in Elantris, they aren't seen a whole lot used in the city after its restored. Not to mention, he can teleport and just used his ranged Aons in attacking. I'd give it Raoden even with Sazed (pre-Harmony) on the other side.
  11. Seeing as Mistborns seem to be very under-represented here, I think I would also like to point out that Allomancy has much more dynamic and immediate results. Which can prove to be far more useful in many situations. On the other hand, copperminds are a big draw for me. I'm just too much of a nerd not to want them.
  12. I think one major advantage to being a feruchemist over an allomancer is that if the alloys are mixed wrong, as mistborn it can cause some serious problems and leave you weakened. Which would be bad because you would probably already be in a tight spot to burn bad alloys. Feruchemists just can't use them, no harm done.
  13. Two things about this. One, Sazed was a fairly harmonious person in the first place, so his personality might not change much. Two, Sazed holds two shard with opposite intentions to them. One changes its holder to seek to preserve everything and the other changes its holder to want to destroy everything. Therefor, the effects could very well be cancelled out and Sazed's personality might not change at all due the shards themselves. On the other hand, who knows what holding that kind of power could do to him over time.
  14. I was wondering while writing about Shards creating humans on someone else's topic about who the Shards might have been. I think it is safe to assume that some of them were humans, specifically Ruin and Preservation, as they made humans based on those on their home world pre-shattering. But were all of them human? And I think it is safe to say that there were other races pre-shattering besides humans (specifically the Listeners on Roshar, I have a whole theory relating to that here). So is it possible that one or more of the Shards were a different race?
  15. Also, since it has been established that Shards have created humans based on the ones that inhabited their world before they were Shards. Its possible, seeing as it seems all of the Shards either knew or knew of each other before they were Shards, they are all from the same world. So it is possible that more the just Ruin and Preservation made humans on their Shardworlds, possible that all of them did. It is also likely that they all used the same blueprints, which would explain the similar looks of people from different Sharldworlds.
  16. I'm not sure this is entirely true. I think there has to be some amount of Investiture stored within each person on Scadrial, or at least in those who can use the Metallic Arts. After all, Feruchemists can use Nicrosil to store Investiture. Although, perhaps the Nicrosil would just be a reciprocal, and could then be used to power other abilities. Like the theory that Stormlight could be used to Stealpush. Something to think about. But certainly, a Feruchemist with Investiture stored in their Nicrosil could properly wield Nightblood.
  17. The bracers may also be inherently special, beyond being atium. After all, TLR had a massive amount of power for those moments at the Well. He could have made something that had properties beyond any of the Metallic Arts on their own.
  18. If you have not read Words of Radiance, stop reading here. So, after reading a post about how the Listeners (or Parshendi) could have been the inhabitants of Roshar Pre-Shattering (found here), and thinking about the fact that Shards have been known to make humans (Mistborn - I don't have the exact reference, as I'm at college and don't have my books), I figured that it is likely that either Honor or Cultivation made humans. (I couldn't see Odium doing it) Then I remembered that in Words of Radiance, the Listeners seemed to believe that the spren left them for the humans or the humans stole them (again, I can't don't have the specific reference, but I will put them in ASAP). This makes it seem like they were able to surgebind the way the Knights Radiant can once upon a time. But now, they instead have the Voidspren. In another topic, I mention how the magic systems existed without the influence of the Shards (cite here, last thing Brandon says #5), but have since been modified by the Shard's intent, (found here). So here is my theory: Pre-Shattering, the Listeners lived on Roshar and were able to surgebind, or something similar. Then, after Adonalsium shattered, the shards of Cultivation, Honor, and Odium made ended up on the Greater Roshar System. Here, their influence, (specifically Honor and Odium as we don't have examples of Cultivation yet) changed the spren into the Surgespren (as I refer to Honor's spren), Voidspren, and possible some Cultivation version. Most likely, Cultivation, with some possible influence from Honor, made humans on Roshar. Honor became associated with humanity, Odium chose the Listeners. He drastically changed the spren the Listeners could bond, but Honor's spren still granted very similar powers, making the Listeners think that the spren betrayed them and that they had to turn to the Voidspren. Let me know what you think, and I'll work on getting those references in there.
  19. World hopping would make things easier...
  20. True, but I feel like Odium, a being who hates everything, would create beings whose jobs are to "unmake."
  21. This isn't exactly true. Slivers are people that hold a large amount of investiture, so Susebron is likely to be a splinter. Also, Brandon basically says that all Returned are Splinters, or at least their Divine Breath is. http://www.theoryland.com/intvmain.php?i=680#13 #13
  22. A Shard of Forgetfulness could be interesting. "How do I use my powers again?"
  23. Would Harmony give them a way to get there? Or would they somehow figure out how to use different forms of the Metallic Arts to get there?
  24. I have read quite extensively on this site about a lot of topics on shard theory and magic theory and from what I am coming to understand is that a good (though not perfect and only with secondhand sources to support) way to understand magic systems and the various shards involvement in them is that the magic systems, by and large, were in place before Adonalsium shattered. After the Shard of Adonalsium scattered and settled, they perverted the magic system(s) that were already a part of the world(s) that they settled on. I'm still researching this and looking for sources, so any thoughts and/or sources would be awesome.
  25. I'm fairly new, so I don't know if this has been discussed already, but if a Feruchemist were to receive a BioChromatic Breath, would they be able to store it in Nicrosil? And if so, what would be the purpose or effect of such action? I'm assuming it would be possible because 'storing investiture' is fairly vague. Any thoughts?
